Kez where are you? What is it with you cornish dogs, that you all seem to be so elusive. Come on boy, show yourself, and let's get you into the BLUE ZONE.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

More searching yesterday but to no avail......with no definite sightings we are coming to two possible conclusions - either Kez has been picked up and taken up country (as we say down here! Hasn't taken me long to sound like a local!!) and if this is the case, he's chipped, so every chance he'll turn up. The other conclusion is that very sadly Kez hasn't made it and we haven't found him in time, wherever he may be stuck. I sincerely hope this isn't the case. We've worked so hard, and searched all over, it's heartbreaking.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I also check Kez's page every day. This is such an awful situation thinking that he may be stuck somewhere trying to hang on. I wish I was near enough to physically help with the search, everyone involved must be mentally and physically exhausted. I pray that you find Kez soon XXLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Nothing new to report really......another possible sighting which, as I write, Marilyn, Kez's mum, is checking out........ paws crossed it could be Kez. If it isn't Kez, we're back to square one, and still searching for the elusive hole where he may be. Thank you for all the supportive messages, makes such a difference when I log on! Just had a call from Marilyn.....it got too dark to see, so shell go back and check again tomorrow. This dog is hanging out in easy reach of a quiet campsite, and appears when the bacon's on the grill for breakfast, or at supper time!Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

We're still searching......two potential sightings, so Marilyn and Chris headed off in opposite directions to check....but neither were Kez. It would have meant too that he had managed to get out of wherever he's stuck.....and we're convinced he's down some sort of hole, unable to get out (not necessarily a mine shaft, perhaps leading to one). Love and positive thoughts to Kez and his owners, Marilyn and Chris. This is so difficult - as it is for everyone who's dog is missing from home. xxx Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

A quick update to say we've paused today......although those lovely cornish mine rescue guys lifted our spirits last night with their willingness to come out and help, we were so disappointed we didn't find Kez, and today feel flat and exhausted (and time to do some of my own work too). We have people near and far working on trying to locate Kez, and sending him healing and positive thoughts. We'll be out again tomorrow, and I'll update again soon. So please continue to send love to Kez, and will him to hang on, we're doing our very best to bring him home. I'm off to bed to recoup.... xxxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Thank you for all the messages of support, it's really helped. Sadly, despite the amazing help from Cornish Mine Rescue, a voluntary group who turned out tonight to go down some shafts and also check the adits for us, still no sign of Kez. Thank you, guys, you were fantastic! The difficulty we have is that in the area where we were tonight there are in the region of 400 shafts, and it is an impossibility to comprehensively search them all. We have enlisted the help of a professional map dowser, and are hoping that we can further refine our search with her help, and that Kez can hang on until we find him. I also did a live radio interview with Radio Cornwall at 6.20 this evening which will have further raised Kez's profile, and also DogLost. Marilyn and Chris, Kez's owners, are very grateful for all the support, near and far.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Oh god this is awful. How worrying for Kez's family. I truly wish I was nearer so I could help but praying for Kez's safe return. No, the shafts don't usually join up. This is an area of tin mining, and the shafts generally go straight down, occasionally with a tunnel off to one side. They vary in depth - some can be about 120 feet, others much shallower. They can be capped near the top, which means that a dog could fall in and easily survive the fall but be unable to get out. Some shafts are securely fenced, others are not. Usually where there are mine shafts there are rabbits in abundance, hence the problem.....some are dry, some are full of water, it's hard to give a definitive description! xxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

dillondog, do all these mine shafts join up, like underground tunnels, or are they individual ? This is so awfull for you and the owners. You definitely need more helpers to come forward. Try local horsey people they cover a lot of ground, may even be worth asking local hunt as they ride these areas. Riding schools etc. Also Culdrose air sea rescue may see something during their travels. Pot-holing people too and hikers and climbers. You could make some business card sized details with photo on (you can do about 16 to a page of A4) people can keep them in pockets. Also holiday makers may have found and taken back to their home town, try other rescues out of cornwall. Will be thinking of you wishing you well. Kez is a beautiful dog. I spoke to Marilyn, Kez's Mum, this morning and here is her update: from There is a really strong possibility Kez is stuck or trapped somewhere and unable to get out. There have been no reliable sightings, and as there are literally numerous mine shafts in this area, he has possibly fallen in one. Time is marching on, and Kez has now been missing for over 5 weeks. If he is stuck, he's getting weaker......PLEASE.....if you live in Penwith, especially near Relubbas/St Erth/Goldsithney/Halamanning etc, please check any shafts on your property, and any empty disused sheds and outbuildings. Kez must be there somewhere, and we want to find him and bring him home. So come on, all you local people, please lets make a concerted effort to find Kez. xxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

High everyone. Kez is tagged and chipped. If he stays safe there is no reason why we should not get him back. Hundreds of posters are needed, all over the place, where there are people. If he has been taken in, we must make him too hot to handle so that he is given back. Posters need to be placed in polly sleeves and fixed with something equal in strength to parcel or carpet tape, with the hole at the bottom. By doing this you will not have to replace posters due to rain and can concentrate on sightings. Posters will bring him back, plus do keep checking on police, dog pounds and rescue centres, as he can be re-homed after just seven days xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

This is dreadful. So sorry Kez is missing in the area of a mine shaft. Posters need to be displayed urgently near to the area he was last seen. Hand out posters to dogwalkers in order to get loads of people searching. Make everyone aware of his disappearance. Further suggestions for postering are listed below. We need to find him quickly. Notice boards, lamp posts, entrances to parks, dog bins and on cars. Take posters to vets, pet shops, postmen (for sorting offices), milkmen, dustmen, street cleaners, taxi drivers, schools, pubs, youth clubs, newsagents, post offices, takeaways, dog training clubs, supermarkets and car parks. Deliver to houses and businesses. Police stations, Dog Wardens, the RSPCA and all rescue centres need checking frequently and preferably visited in person by owner or someone who knows Kez well. I do hope he is found soon. Stay safe Kez xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
