- This is so sad. Thank you Summerleaze for showing her you cared. I had no idea that many lurchers could be mistreated like that. RIP beautiful Piper x

- All over Facebook, with lots and lots of heartfelt messages. The vets did a brilliant job in trying to save her and at least she was in their loving care when she passed. They named her Piper.. So RIP sweet beautiful Piper. Xxxxx

Summerleaze Veterinary Hospital Thursday 15th June 2.55pm - It is with the heaviest of hearts that I am having to write this post about the stray dog we called Piper <3
Despite the best efforts of all the staff in the practice, she has unfortunately passed away whilst under anaesthesia to have her leg amputated :-(
She deteriorated overnight, and the infection in her leg had become overwhelming despite the intravenous antibiotics.
We knew that it was a high risk procedure to perform in such a sick dog, but we could not allow her to continue without this intervention.
During the procedure her little heart stopped. The whole practice team of vets and nurses tried their absolute best to resuscitate her but were unable to get her heart beating again.
We have not managed to locate her owners, despite the huge efforts of many of you.
She was not our pet; she belonged to someone else, but we loved her as our own.
Piper <3 has crossed rainbow bridge but will always be remembered at Summerleaze.
Thankyou so much to all of you that have liked / shared / commented on the post.
Thank you Summerleaze Vets for trying so hard and with such compassion.
RIP lovely girl. Who could not love you?Last edited: 2016-06-15 18:05:30 by Baydogs - 2016-06-15 17:51 Mollychops
- Be interesting to see if an owner comes forwards I somehow doubt it . She is in good hands now , and deserves so much more
