- Well done Lorna! :)
What makes a dog run off, I suspect she was hunting and lost walker, maybe trying to catch up was she disorientated , or on a hunt as she was picked up by Lorna at 8pm 19th (running scared) and lost sometime maybe the evening on the 18th so a whole day lost and within 5 mins of home LORNA was she found running towards home or the other way, just wondering ?
Helps to get a picture of Lost Dogs , thanks x - 2016-06-20 11:25 Rachel
- Happy to confirm that the found dog was indeed Pepper and she is now safely home! It's also her owner's birthday so a very happy ending! Thanks to all involved who helped.

I just received this via Facebook after sharing the Lost post .... Hi, i must have the dog you posted about! I found her running frantic just off the a39 near withycombe/rod turning yesterday around 8pm.. She is safe and sound, been fed and watered and is currently in our kitchen. I live in Carhampton, on the blue anchor turning, my mobile number is 07717493622 however signal is poor so do try home phone 01643 821014. Regards, Lorna. - 2016-06-19 21:46 Poochpal - Regional Co-ordinator - South West - Police Liaison Team
- Has the entire headland of the field been walked in case she is caught on the fence or hedge surrounding the crop? Often when trapped or caught up although may initially yelp or bark they then lie silent as they are then vulnerable. She may not make a sound even when people she recognises are close by.
As everything has grow so fast recently you would need to search carefully through the undergrowth, especially in the hedges where there are runs regularly used by wildlife. - 2016-06-19 21:29 Rachel
- Thanks for messages. The actual owners are on holiday in Spain and her sister was looking after dog. (That;'s why we haven't got the chip number). She did go on a walk - a walk regularly done and near her home. She ran into a wheat field and just didn't come back out. She is a farm dog and it is is rural area. Lady has been back to field with the other dog but no sign and other dog not made any sign her pal is trapped / whining / in vicinity. I've been putting up posters and emailing local FB sites etc. I've sent the dogs lost advice to the owners in spain and I believe police and wardens are aware. Thanks - it is very worrying she's still not headed home - the field is only 2 mins from her house. I've no idea if she's a rabbiter etc. She does have a collar on and the worry is she's hung up somewhere but would have imagined would have wriggled free by now. Owner's sister has been around the fence of field and nearby copse.

- Please take the other dog back ASAP on lead.
The lost cocker may still be in the area where lost.
That is your best bet at this point.
When you call the please do it in a low voice for two reasons.
First you don't want the dog to think you are cross and another they have brilliant hearing.
Good luck - 2016-06-19 09:42 Jayne - Founder Doglost.
