Oh no! I've just come back from searching. I feel particularly bad because yesterday I told the owner, while he was looking through the bracken, that my dog would have found Sam if he was nearby.
Very sad about poor Sam.

Sam, an elderly but spritely and slim, wiry haired border collie cross /lurcher has been reported missing since 8.15am on Monday 27th june. He is mainly black, with a white chest and a white right front leg, was wearing a black leather collar with a bone shaped tag, and is microchipped. Worryingly, he was wearing a basket muzzle to prevent him eating undesirable stuff, but this will also prevent him eating or drinking anything at all. Friendly dog

Met the owner and (and someone from the vets he uses) last night on the common. Forgot to ask precisely where Sam was last seen. I presume he was lost somewhere near Black Pond.
Other information is that I understand Sam was lost around about 8am on Monday.
