Lynx pose no threat to humans ,pets or livestock they used to be native to Britain till they was wiped out .On species of Lynx feeds only on Deer and the species survives on Rabbits & Hare. The purpose of reintroducing the Lynx is a natural way of controlling the expanding Deer population . In my small area 20 Deer in 3 months have been involved in car accidents .

Owl, I think this escaped Lynx has more to fear from man than we have to fear from him....unless cornered by someone foolish.
For those interested, there is a controversial plan to reintroduce Lynx back into the UK -

Labradors vary in size. The Lynx I saw in a Herts woodland nature reserve in 1984 was the size of a young labrador bitch, working not show. The friend who was with me at the time was in agreement. It had been seen by the reserve warden as well, but no one believed him. It was very shy, never caused any trouble, and lived out its days catching rabbits and small rodents. Never bothered any of the dogs who were regularly in the woods, in fact it vanished the minute it saw people or dogs.

Yes colliebird their freedom is nice.
However in a country that they are born in.
Where there are no children dogs or cats.

Lynx were introduced into Switzerland some years ago. They are very shy animals. Better off in the wild than in a zoo. Enjoy your freedom Lynx!

They haven't caught him yet Pat, but the police have released the drone footage from last night-

This illustrates how useful thermal imaging would be to those in the west country searching for a missing dog. Can't resist a link to this....

This lynx has been bred in captivity and has not been caught from the wild but he will be very scared and has no idea where he is so definitely do not approach. All animals can react in fear and we do not want that to happen with this lovely animal far better we let the handlers/keepers try to catch him humanely and safely. Please report any sightings direct to 999.

Lets hope the police shoot it with a tranquiliser and not a bullet .
BigGSDPatlucky
