There has been a lot of activity behind the scenes and we are working closely with the Met officer now in charge of this case.
A comprehensive log of events we compiled is now being looked at by this officer to re check time scales, events and those names we have given who are involved as either lost a dog or was someone who found a dog and helped to reunite them. Any new information is now given direct to this police officer.

UK - ROMFORD - FOR INFO.
A little Yorkie boy was found yesterday and my friend took him to be scanned. He is chipped and the vets said he was stolen from outside the area approx. 2 months ago. DW tried to contact the owner but had no luck yesterday, so he is in the local pound at the moment

Update Wednesday 20th of July.

Sorry, no updates at the moment other than to say how wonderful it is that complete strangers are going out putting up posters, printing posters, delivering posters, paying for posters, emailing companies, emailing the press, tweeting, sharing, caring, supporting, looking through adverts both on internet and in papers and stores.

We just need to keep the pressure up and make Nina Tilly and Mattie TOO HOT TO HANDLE xx

Yipsey, I was thinking along similar lines - that the other dogs MAY have been released on their way to Swanley, especially as there was the possible sighting of Nina in Nunhead Cemetery.
ADMIN, looking at this map-
https://www.bing.com/mapspreview?v=2&c=en-GB&ur=US&rtp=pos.51.4302291870117_-0.129960000514984_Streatham%2c+London%2c+London~pos.51.3981094360352_0.173879995942116_Swanley%2c+Kent&qpvt=streatham+to+swanley
Would it be possible for alerts to be sent out along that route please?

EDIT- The link to the map won't show the Nunhead detour, but that route would go through Brockley and Kidbrook to Hither Green.Last edited: 2016-07-18 11:25:06 by Baydogs

You could try contacting the Dartford crossing and highways authority maybe they could put out alerts on the over head gantry signs around the area leading to the crossing

Baydogs - I think it would be unlikely to have any more than three seats in the front - even a Ford Transit only has three seats. If there were four men in there then that would be a squash.
Baydogs
I'm reading the Standard News report on Twitter here-
https://twitter.com/hashtag/stolendogvan?src=hash
and it says that shortly after the man in a hoody drove the van away, it was seen by a woman in Sydenham where FOUR MEN who were inside the van dumped the male cocker spaniel before driving away.
If that is correct, where were the four female dogs? On the laps of the men? All squashed into the back?
Or had they ALREADY been dumped too?
I've never sat in this type of van. How much room is there?

If that was only shortly afterwards, where were the other three men waiting?Last edited: 2016-07-15 20:14:33 by Baydogs

Please also contact the local Postal Sorting Offices and send them posters to put up in their depots, Postmen/women are walking the streets everyday doing their rounds, my friend is a postwoman and there is nothing she doesn't know about who and what goes on, on her round. They also know where all dogs live as they have logs so would potentially spot if someone who previously didn't have a dog and has just acquired one.

Here's a thought - the driver left her phone in the van - would the police be able to track the GPS signal to help locate it? Does the phone have an anti theft setting where it will take a selfie of the person who may now be using it?

Good luck. Please keep us updated.

Is there any truth in the rumours about the call from the thief?

Jane - I don't know the dog walker but thought that her dog walking insurance may cover the cost of getting thousands of flyers printed ... as Ronmaxtye F1 says it's such a large area that needs to be covered as the poor dogs could be anywhere now.
Jane
I didn't go to Nunhead cemetery as several people were there this morning so it seemed better to go elsewhere. Sorry I didn't see notes re nature reserve until I got back home. So I went over to Norwood Grove and Streatham Common. This is the closest green areas to where the dogs were stolen. I was only able to put a very small number of posters up as my printer is not working properly. I spoke to a couple of people too who had not heard about it. The area needs more posters though. any news on the others??...I read a link that said the van was heading down the A2 in kent ..have we anymore confirmation on that? I live in Gravesend kent the A2 passes by us
Unknown
until we get some more sightings, the searching and looking for the dog is "best guesswork" so its best to keep searching in all areas until he pops up again and we get some idea
Unknown
there is no info on van yet, glad it is getting out in the press/radio the idiot who stole them might start worrying now and decide to hand them over? we think the nature reserve is a better bet but not sure how to direct you? we left the cemetery and turned sharp right at the mini roundabout went down that road and ended up at the new cemetery then started straight down the road and there is a small sign saying nature reserve and footpath to old cemetery? it is oppersite the golf club and some gardens on the right? hope that makes sense to you, as we are from essex we dont really know the area

Steveem7. The call may have been a hoaxer. Please read this-
http://news.doglost.co.uk/2016/06/cruel-hoaxer-demands-money-for-missing-dogs/

Dog Walker/Owner, if you have received this kind of call please let Doglost know and dial 101 and tell the police.
Steveem7
Would be good if they can provide info. My dog walker told me it was on bbc news and that dog walker had received blackmailing call! So suggests to me they have the dogs.
Clarity would be good as people out looking.
Jane
Thanks yes That would be good but probably too late for today. I haven't seen any posts by the dog walker on here. Someone earlier (you?) said the dog walker may be able to print lots out which would be great.
Safedog Crash Tested Car CratesBaggy Dog
Hi Jane, perhaps one of the dog owners or the dog walker could let you have some posters to put up/hand out? I haven't seen any updates on the van yet :(
Jane
Sounds like lots of brilliant searching and awareness raising today. I'm planning to head over to cemetery shortly. Do you think this is still worth revisiting? I know it's a big place with lots of hiding places. I don't have posters (and nor a working printer) so can't poster. Which nature reserve do you mean? Would it make sense for me to go there instead? Have the police found the van yet or no updates?
Unknown
Shelagh and myself went to south london this morning, we checked all the cemeteries with out and sightings, talked to lots of dog walkers and others and gave out doglost cards, also gave them to parks staff who were not aware of what has happened? we also looked into a nature reserve which we feel is where she will bed down if she is in that area as its overgrown providing good cover and is fairly quiet
Millys Mum
Has Foxgrove Vets received a poster? Have already recommended popping in with one rather than just making a telephone call. Also, another minor detail (although important, I feel) and that is that the telephone contact numbers on the posters and mini-flyers appear with spacing between the numbers (i.e. 07890 123 456) as a telephone number typed without spaces is often very difficult to decipher, especially if a person has spotted one of the dogs and is in a panic and needs to call the number in a hurry.
Millys Mum
Jane - thanks for your post and re-assuring g to hear that DL appears to be the most up-to-date. I have just popped out to add the 4 individual posters on trees close to the combined poster, which is already receiving attention (spoke to a nice concerned lady and, possibly, her grandson who were passing by as I was putting up the laminated posters). I work in a road which is very close to the busy Beckenham Junction and New Beckenham stations, as well as close to a Waitrose supermarket and the popular High Street.
Jane
Hi Baggy Dog. Thanks for explaining that's really helpful. Sorry yes I realise that searching is combined with leafletting and putting posters up. It would be good to get an update from the dog walker or owners soon. And fingers crossed that the dogs are found quickly. And yes it would be great if the dog walkers insurance can get leaflets produced.Last edited: 2016-07-14 12:28:04 by Jane
Safedog Crash Tested Car CratesBaggy Dog
Hi Jane, yes FB & Twitter re-circulate and are great, but as you say it's better if someone is co-ordinating. Usually it's the dog owner - and it works best when he or she posts regular updates here, so volunteers can track what's going on. In this case I'd guess the dog walker would be posting the main updates with input from the owners (though of course some may not have internet access). Search parties are obviously good, but they only really work well if searchers give out flyers to people they meet ... then when those people spot a dog they can phone the numbers on the flyer. Not sure who the phone numbers on the poster here belong to - maybe the dog walker? It helps to have hundreds of posters printed. Many volunteers do this, but I wonder if the dog walker's insurance would pay for a big batch to be printed as this particular case could spread over a larger area than usual.
Jane
In response to Millys Mum - I am on fb and twitter but the information on DogsLost seems more up to date. Fb and twitter seem just to recirculate what's on here. I haven't seen the dog walker post anything anywhere - whether on here or on twitter - but maybe she has and i have missed it. I'm helping share info as it's local to me and am hoping to search the cemetery later but it's quite difficult to actually keep up to date with any latest news. No one person seems to be leading the searches or co-ordinating but perhaps I'm wrong. Does anyone know if the dog walker and/or owners are doing this? I don't know how it usually works?
Millys Mum
Firstly, I asked the question yesterday whether all the missing dogs were wearing collars, carrying ID tags and are microchipped but I haven't noticed a reply yet. Also was the dogwalker's van signwritten? And, final question is the dogwalker posting on DL as well as all owners? I have spoken to all our 5 drivers in work (and other colleagues) who frequent the Beckenham area and all parts of SE London. I have laminated the combined 4 dogs Missing poster and it has been placed on our work gates at the BPP end of Copers Cope Road. I'm about to pop out of work and put the 4 individual posters on nearby trees for added impact. But a huge well done and thank you to all the caring DL Helpers who are working so very hard to get these poor, frightened dogs back home. Finally, I do so agree with Baggy Dog's comments about the DL Helpers missing out on the Facebook comments (I don't 'use' Facebook or Twitter). Keeping fingers crossed that today will be the day when these dogs are found.
Michelle
I can't be there this morning/lunch time, but will keep a look out for updates & details of further co-ordinated searches & will be there if I can. Keeping fingers & toes crossed in the meantime.
Unknown
Shelagh and myself will be at the cemetery main gates at 11.30/12 to meet searchers going at that time to co ordinate the search with them, all welcome

I've been in touch with BBC Radio London - Joanne Good - who has a doggy radio show this afternoon from 3 til 4pm (94.9 FM). She has told me that they are doing a whole feature about the missing dogs today.

To the owners of these dogs - i have alerted network rail, thameslink and also south eastern trains to the situation, as the spaniel was dumped near a train line and the cemetery too is not far from the train line either. Please can you get in contact with network rail, the contact number is posted here. Get in contact asap and they will keep a look out. Not sure if all 4 owners want to contact or not, but will post on each doglost link anyway
Really sorry to hear this, Shannon. Could you please ask the individual to contact us on 03457 11 41 41. Many thanks. ^DJ

Latest update on van sighting-Ronmaxtye F1 - Area Volunteer, Essex -
Have talked to the lady who sighted the van, it was not sighted not in Brentwood but still in south london, the lady was driving back to home in Brentwood and the van overtook her driving erratic which made her note the number, she does not remember where it was except it was a major road in south london, the A2 is likely, but the main thing is the van is NOT in BrentwoodLast edited: 2016-07-13 21:35:30 by Baydogs

Hi. I'm in SE18 and am able to drive over to the area of any sightings/where dogs were last seen to help search if this will assist? Kind regards. Michelle

Is it helpful for others to search or not? I could have gone over to Nunhead this morning to help look but didn't know about the sighting until this afternoon. What is the best way for us to help and stay updated - does anyone know? The good thing about the cemetery is that it's big enough for a dog to stay there a while without venturing into the roads too.Last edited: 2016-07-13 18:16:01 by Jane

Update on Nina from her owner
UPDATE
I've had a possible sighting of her at 8.30am this morning, running out of Nunhead cemetry along Limesford road then doubling back. I've been around the cemetry and put up posters. Can anyone in Nunhead, Peckham and Honor Oak keep their eyes out.
Thanks
Anna

Just thinking out loud.....
Does anyone know if the dogwalker always picked up the dogs in a certain order? Because if so, I belong to the camp that think this robbery had been planned and that probably it was the van he was after not the dogs.
I am perplexed why he should just dump one. Did that dog usually bark when travelling? Did he evacuate himself in the van? Was he travel sick? All those dogs, waiting in the van, were also waiting expectantly to get out and have a pee and poo and all of us owners know that dogs get used to a certain routine on this. If that thief took them a long way in the back of the van, plus the surprise of some sranger getting in, it wouldn't be long before these dogs would simply HAVE to empty themselves. Or they'd be kicking up a fuss because they needed to and were distressed and uncomfortable.
For those reasons I don't think this thief took them far. If we follow the theory that didn't want them in the first place ,I believe he dumped the other three as soon as he felt it was safe (for him- not wishing it to be witnessed) to do so. I'm going to be plain - I bet these dogs were whinging and farting...and I don't think he liked it.
People local to that area....... Where could I park up and dump dogs without attracting too much attention?Last edited: 2016-07-13 17:59:11 by Baydogs

I wonder if the driver was heading towards the Peckham area, if the lurcher was seen in Nunhead. He may have dumped all of them and we all know how far dogs can travel when out alone. Posters needed around this area, and target the dog walkers on the Peckham Rye which is right near the Cemetary. He may have just dumped the lurcher as she may have been freaking out in the van, this is all so worrying. Really hope they found safe soon.

I have just read elsewhere that ALL the dogs were microchipped.

According to a news article in News Shopper - a Bromley newspaper online- the dog Nina was seen in Nunhead cemetery this morning? The link doesn't seem to work but here it is:

I've shared on my personal and business Facebook pages. Hopefully the dog walker and the people who've lost dogs are co-ordinating the poster efforts. It would be a good idea for mini flyers to be produced and handed out to everyone searching ... not everyone's on social media. I'll take a poster along to Creature Comforts, Eden Park, later. Hoping for good news soon.

ellejay - good to have you on the case, especially as I don't do Twitter or Facebook. Hoping that you get a good response from your tweets.
Jane
weimlover - I read on a local noticeboard that the spaniel was seen being pushed out of the van. He was jfound on a street in Sydenham - not sure whether it was by same person who saw him being pushed out of the van.Last edited: 2016-07-13 13:19:12 by Jane

I have tweeted all the major News teams, celeb vets, celeb dog lovers, local newspapers, literally bombarding everyone i can think off, to spread the word.
#stoppettheft
Was the Spaniel found abandoned or had He/She already been Sold on do we know plz ?

#stoppettheft
I am tweeting #4stolendogs & more - many kind RTs
Let's hope these poor dogs have been 'dumped' & will soon be Safely Home
If man arrived in area on foot to steal the van & dogs then He must be known locally - just a matter of time for Police to pick himm up I would hope
Owners & Dog Walker must be in bits :( (as are ALL Owners of Stolen / Missing Pets)

So upsetting what has happened to these dogs, They are circulating all over fb and twitter and hopefully will be to hot to handle. I have spread the word in the area and have many eyes looking out for them. I have been emailing the media to see if we can get this story on the news. Lets hope they are found safe very soon.

I used to live in a flat that overlooked Mayow park, which also borders Bishopsthorpe Rd. This is where I understand the Spaniel was found. Could be possible he dumped all dogs in that park. Also Crystal Palace Park is only up the road from there.
Millys Mum
Do we know if all the missing dogs are wearing collars with ID tags and that they are microchipped? Also the very caring Croydon Dog Wardens (can't recall their names but know they are very good) as West Norwood not too far away from Croydon.
Millys Mum
Thanks Majorjet for grouping the 4 photos together and I will now use this page for comments although did post a comment on Lilly's, Mattie's and Tilly's page directing them to my comments on Nina's page. I have/will be alerting our 5 drivers to the missing dogs and will place posters along our end of Copers Cope Road (place of work) which is very close to Beckenham Place Park. Just about to dig out the laminator.

Thanks Majorjet. Sorry didn't make myself clear. The poster Buddy has done appears as an extra image. However when you select view poster, the one shown has slightly different layout and wording. I was wondering whether there was any way of replacing that with Buddy's one? No worries if not.

Thanks Jane I was updating the other pages re directing everyone to use this page as you posted. Gets confusing when there are more than one dog being covered.
Jane
Sorry - I just saw a note about putting all comments on one page - could you add this to the other pages too so that people know where to put suggestions? I am just copying and pasting a comment from Nina's page which is about good places to look:
Comment from 'Milly's Mum':

So very sorry to hear all these dogs are missing and do hope they are all found today. I definately agree with Jane about postering Beckenham Place Park as huge with woods and a popular golf course. I live I Beckenham and work close to one of the entrances to BPP in Foxgrove Roads. Also please call into the golf shop and ask them to display a poster so that the golfers are aware before they set off for their game. It's also a very popular dog walking area with many good and caring dog owners (and other walkers). It's also imperative that you call into Foxgrove Road Vets as they are open 24/7 as they provide emergency cover for many local vets. But, in the interim, their telephone number is 020 8650 2003. You should find that the reception and nursing staff are happy to help. Good Luck!

Thanks csquaredb for posting. If you refresh the page you will see the updated photo.

Is there any way of making the updated poster appear when you view poster? Thanks
Jane
Really hope these dogs are found soon. If one dog was dropped off in Sydenham then it might be worth checking Beckenham Place Park which is not too far away and would be an easy place to let dogs go if the guy only wanted the van and not the dogs. Worth putting posters up there.
