Hi, My springer was stolen by Travellers in very similar circumstances in April near Kettering. So, firstly, chin up: he was found but it took a lot of effort. Contact local TV, radio & papers All three were brilliant in hosting interviews, telling the story and giving publicity. They ran stories free of charge and offered decent prices on adverts. Absolutely crucial in finding our dog though was the Northamptonshire Community Traveller Unit, part of the Northants Police Force ? you need to find the one in your area as they go onto all the sites regularly. And posters are so important ? every lamppost, pub (rough!! where dogs may be sold in the car park) , park / dog walking area, vet, dog training group, gypsy camp gate etc. There are so many people who want to help, it's actually quite moving. Don't wait for a ransom demand to come in, in case it's not coming. Be proactive now and also contact specific organisations dog breed organisations plus all the usual people who are out and about in the locality everyday like milkmen and postmen (postmen deliver to traveller camps and ours put up posters in the sorting office for all their colleagues to keep and eye out too) etc. And most important of all, ring all the dogs homes and the general police stations FRONT DESK (not the general number that covers all of them) EVERY day. Ditto the Council Dog Wardens for the surrounding towns. They all have a very poor logging system and it's just best to ring them every day to remind them of the crime and where they can find you as and when they turn. Don't rely on them being efficient and logical. It sounds harsh but they have lots of people vying for their attention so make sure you just keep yourselves in it. Also local NFU branches, Country Stores etc. I think that's everything. Good luck. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Seems like quite a few dogs have gone missing from BD postcode areas over last few days! Just a thought, but have you noticed if there are any travellers in the area?Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Posters need to be displayed as soon as possible on notice boards, lamp posts, entrances to parks, dog bins and on cars. Take posters to vets, pet shops, postmen (for sorting offices), milkmen, dustmen, street cleaners, taxi drivers, schools, pubs, youth clubs, newsagents, post offices, takeaways, dog training clubs, supermarkets and car parks. Hand out reduced-down posters or cards to people - especially dog walkers - and deliver to houses and businesses. Police stations, Dog Wardens, the RSPCA and all rescue centres need checking frequently and preferably visited in person by owner or someone who knows Millie well. Come home soon sweet Millie x Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
