- Other Info A small hermann's tortoise (testudo hermanni) between the age of 2-3. Put her out on a sunny day in her outdoor enclosure only to have no sign of her later in the day, has not turned up since despite near constant searching thus fearing she's escaped.

- hi, make sure he's not dug down into the soil - my friends tortoise went missing for a couple of weeks - it had buried itself in the soil and then one day it appeared again. also watch out for birds of prey in your area

- Alternatively, of course, could someone have stolen her? When you get her back, perhaps get her microchipped.

- I am sure the owner knows all this but look under every single large leaf and bush - into corners. Look out at garden first thing in morning and may see her marching across a patch of open ground. Poster everywhere so everyone knows where she is missing from. Also look at any drops (in tortoise terms could be 6 inches down at edges of lawn, etc) to see if she is lying on her back and can't get up. My friend was sitting in her garden once and a tortoise came over the top of the 6 ft fence so nothing is impossible (I assume there was a climbing plant the other side that aided the ascent).
