Thought you might be interested in a petition .... to request that the police forces of the UK recognise that to steal a dog is a criminal offence and they should be helping the owners to recover their much loved pets. http://petitions. pm.gov.uk/ stolendogs/ Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Has anyone heard anything back from MP's etc? I havent had any luck with the police forces or Essex MP (what a *****r)! This is getting ridiculous now. I dont think they realise what an impact this can have on owners. My work is suffering, I rarely see my friends. I refused to celebrate my Brithday and Christmas is going to be crap without her....Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi everyone, We did think that Mei could be in Holland as that is where the suspect fled to and the police never confirmed if she has returned. I am assuming she has been back for a while now and has Mei with her. We have decided to go quiet with the posters etc for a little while and let things settle down but please everyone in the SS17 & CM areas keep your eyes out as she will return there once the dust settles.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Yes, just wanted to confirm that I also sent emails to both MPs in the week. Not had any reply yet to confirm the email has been received (although manners dictate this SHOULD be the case!!). Hi Ruth, how did holland get into the picture??? I feel the same disgust as everyone else because if the police had acted in the first place then they wouldnt have had the time to get her out of the country. Whats the law now with the pet passport as she was already chipped?Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Oh and a main part that I missed that the 'Law' thinks is that she was going to be rehomed anyway so why does it matter if they want her! Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

The police said it is their word against ours because there are three of them and only two of us saw her put Mei in the car. It would be very expensive to go to court and we probably wont win anyway. The CPS wouldnt grant them anything to bring her back from Holland (where she is supposedly meant to be but that hasn't been confirmed!) No more action will be taken. So thats all the help we're going to get from the police to get our dog back.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

This is very shocking and upsetting news, I can't believe that the police have closed this case after ALL the evidence they have. The MP for SLH is Angela Smith, I think she should be made aware of the type of police force (or should that be farce) we have in Essex. I will continue to look for Mei everyday. I will definitely contact both MPs. By the way their email addresses are : baronj@parliament.uk and secretary@gregknight.com It might be worth pointing out to John Baron that his manifesto includes "Tougher Law and Order policy........(and a) zero tolerance approach to crime" To contact them by post you need to send an yletter to the House of Commons, London SW1A 0AA Fingers crossed for Mei xxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Thats ridiculous. Write to the chief constable. Write to your MP. Write to the Home Secretary. If that fails then write to the P. Minister. And keep writing. Bombard them with letters. Ring them up. Be a pest and drive them nuts. Send them emails. They should not be allowed to treat you like this. Find out the name of the Chief Constable of whatever police force it is, and start with a personal letter to him. Surely somebody somewhere can do something.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

This is unbelievable and disgraceful! Is it any wonder crimes go unsolved in this country and thieves just get away with it to go out and do it again. I really despair hearing things like this. How can our police force hope to stop crime with this sort of attitude. In my youth you got your collar felt for scrumping apples (not me I would point out!) We are becoming a completely lawless society where to prosper you just help yourself to anything that takes your fancy and then go back for more!Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi Sorry for not getting on last night I was very disheartened as I travelled down but it wasnt Mei sadly. It was a similar looking dog though with a terrible skin condition. I also had a drove around Stanford Le Hope and Canvey but didnt see anything. I didnt see any posters anywhere though. Please could we have some posteres up near Canvey Seafront (There is a green where there were quite a few dogwalkers) and down Southend Road please. I was in such a rush I forgot to take some but did give a pciture to the Clacton Kennels just in case although she said ti would most likely be Colchester covering SLH area. Does anyone know which kennels Colchester council use please?Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Yes she has a very distinguishing scar across the top of her head and a hernia that had been operated on but was returning before she was stolen. Sounds strange but every little helps, she has long black nails (as she doesnt really like having them cut!) A big Shar Pei muzzle, brown eyes, not that mnay wrinkles on her face since the op. We believe the suspects may have put a pink leather collar on her but it could have been changed again. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi I have been in touch with Sheffield council because the dog they hve looks simillar to Mei. They are going to get back to me but insist that all dogs are scanned upon arrival. I have not been given an update by the police for 2 weeks now ll I have been told is that they are waiting for the crown prosecution to decide what action to take next. We have just been informaed of a possible sighting yesterday in Canvey Island, Essex. Couple with child(!) wlaking a black , very short Shar Pei typ. Fitting description of Mei. The person who sighted her has also seen her picture in their local paper (which we placed) and thinks it is her. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi Hannah, thank you for posting her details. The suspects have returned early but essex police are refusing to bring them in until 15th august. I have also recieved a letter fom them enclosing a cheque for ?1000 in retunr for them to keep Mei (if she is found!) - they are saying that she ran away in York despite independent witnesses seeing them put her in the car and drive off. I have obviously showed this to the police and will not accept any money from them, whatever the amount. Hopefully she will be back with us soon. What this does show is they are feeling the pressure of the whole town knowing they stole her and wnat my blessing for them to keep her! So if you can make sure the posters are still up they may decide enough is enough. Thank you so much everyone. Also just to let you all know we made enough money in donations to pay all our bills, treat all the dogs that need anything and buy a bulk load of food. Plus enough to take in another 4 dogs in Septmber from death row. We are now using our monthly donations to run but once we have rehomed these dogs we will be closing. This event has really shaken us. I will personally make a donation to Dog lost though to show our appreciation for all your help. (Obviously when the last dogs have been rehomed all monthly donations will be stopped and donators informed).Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi again everyone, Just another up date. We are still waiting until the suspects return from Amsterdam. They have been there for a week and wont be back until 12th August. Mei is definitely still in the country so we are very worried for her safety and are not sure of her whereabouts. It has been 12 days with no ear s or eye s. Mei has very Tiny ear canals which need cleaning twice a day to prevent them getting dirty and infected. If they do get too bad she can lose her hearing which is what she was like when she arrived with us. She also needs eye s to keep her eyes moist and stop them from being sore. The RSPCA have been contacted twice but have not got back to me. The plice are unable to anything else until the 12th August but please keep looking , she is in Stanford Le Hope somewhere. If I can I will now post a still from the CCTV of the suspects and Mei. Please could someone let me know if it's possible to do that?Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I'm actually from Stanford-le-Hope (live in Scotland now). If I can be of any help, let me know. I do know the different areas. Unfortunately, only an elderly Nan lives there now, but please get in touch, if I can be of any help.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Ruth that was exactly how George was taken from Freshfields Animals Rescue a while back. It was a poster that got him back that I'd put in McDonalds, the man who'd bought him saw it and rang. Good luck xxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

We can always pass on the number but best any sightings are reported by the Guardians.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Are we allowed to include the local police station number on the poster, which is 01375 391212?Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi For Tillys info Mei was stolen from YO41 1EW on 24th July at 4pm and taken to SS17, Standord Le Hope in Essex . we believe she is still there somewhere but she has not been found as yet. Mei was not stolen from the atcual kennels as they are tok secure which I think the people knew since from our CCTV they cased the place the evening before. We have guard dogs, metal shutters, CCTV and big chains on all entrances. She was out on a wlak with them when they took her. We usually take car keys but I was only a matter of metres from the car.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Our group delivered posters to post office in SLH & Corringham plus pet shops in both areas. Hopefully all posties will be aware of Mei and the car and keep a look out. Vets have been visited, most had details already but no pictures. Details sent to all dog wardens and being handed out to walkers as we speak. Cushti, I will keep working on the shops, more coverage will hopefully make Mei become hot property. Fingers crossed they will give her to the police to be returned for the proper care she desperatley needs.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Sorry to hear about Mei being taken but good that there are some clues. I imagine that someone thought she would be a really cool fashion accessory - this really makes my blood boil. Hope there is some good news soon - she is unusual isn't she, fingers crossed for a speedy return. xxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Posters need to be displayed as soon as possible on notice boards, lamp posts, entrances to parks, dog bins and on cars. Take posters to vets, pet shops, postmen (for sorting offices), milkmen, dustmen, street cleaners, taxi drivers, schools, pubs, youth clubs, newsagents, post offices, takeaways, dog training clubs, supermarkets and car parks. Hand out reduced-down posters or cards to people - especially dog walkers - and deliver to houses and businesses. Police stations, Dog Wardens, the RSPCA and all rescue centres need checking frequently and preferably visited in person by owner or someone who knows Mei well. Come home soon Mei x Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
