- Michele, thank you. That's so kind of you and really helpful to anyone who thinks this may be their dog.

- Hello.
I have managed to find the right people to ring (The Canal and River Trust) and spoke to a lovely and very sympathetic lady. She said that she would notify the nearest team to go out and check. When located, they would secure the doggie to the bank and then get the appropriate tools to get the doggie out of the water. Unfortunately, she did say that it is not massively high on their priorities but they would get to it when they can. I explained that the doggie was in a bad condition and that nobody had the practical means to try and take the doggie from the water safely and humanely. I did say that there had been an effort to track the owner but wasn't sure if they had been found for certain. I asked what would happen with the body and she seemed reluctant to tell me and sounded a little sad herself at trying to explain. But unfortunately, this sort of thing comes under the 'waste' section, although she did stress that it was by no means 'waste' - it was just an unfortunate term. They would try to scan it and see if there were any reported dogs missing. She didn't continue further...
She did say to give out the number and if anyone believes it to be their doggie to call and report the doggie having gone missing. The main number is 0303 0404040 and you just need to ask to be put through to the department that deals with the Grand Union Canal. She also took my details and those of Dana as I told her my dog had also gone missing and that I had been contacted about this doggie.
It was a very distressing and sad moment but as I said, the poor darling was in too bad a state to be able to do anything decent and without the proper tools, it would have just made matters worse, not to mention distress our other dog Freddy and Jenny's dog Tiga... Not sure if it would have been better for nature to takes it full course... :-(
RIP little one - we love you and hope you are running free over Rainbow Bridge!

- Well done Jenny & Michele x

- I have just got home from tracking Dana and Tiga tracked onto the canal to where the last sighting was. About 200 yards from this sighting we saw the body of a dog in the water which was not Dana. We managed to scan it but could find no chip.
We also managed to speak to the lady that found the body above and she believes it is the same. Michele the owner of Dana is going to speak to the British Waterways authority to recover the body and give a burial to.
Another 200 yards further along and on the road was a travellers camp so it is highly possible the dog has come from there as apparently they let the dogs out to run along the canal.
Lisa - I do not believe it was Bonnie.
