- Kelly I think the comments on here say it all!
Keep your little boy close and never out of sight my heart goes out to all the people involved in this awful scenario and with their missing babies and we will all on here keep ever watching and listening for the little lost souls
Now we too have more in common than we knew before ....ha ha....
Keep safe one and all - 2017-01-01 11:26 Baydogs
- Kellyrose, I'm so pleased to see Tobias back home after so many painful months and sleepless nights for you and your family....though I can't imagine that you slept much last night either! Dog theft is a completely heartless crime that devastates both the rightful owners and any innocent parties involved. I feel for them too.

- What a fantastic team hey....so glad to see Tobias home to his rightful owners...yes gives hope to all those still finding home and the work continues. For 2017, I hope we can prove dog theft 'prevalence' to our legal teams and forces so we can have more theft convictions in our courts ...its 'prevalence' that is key ...we know it's increasing but we have to record every single theft and where on the map it is for each force xx
welcome home Tobias...if you read Kelly's posts you get to see the trauma dog theft creates for its victims. Police are victim centric and perhaps they all should read her pain and be educated in dog theft xx - 2016-12-31 22:20 kellyrose
- Thank you all from the bottom of my heart, I don't know how I have got through these past months, I'm sorry for the late night calls, I can not quite believe he is home. I had a call from Hertfordshire Police to say that they had Tobias at 16.16 today, we left immediately for the 2 hour/ 200 plus mile round trip, looking not too great haha, when he came through the doors he knew us straight away and gave lovely kisses and cuddles, He has clearly been looked after. He is curled up in his bed with his blanket and toys now. It's been a hell of a few months. XX

- It's just wonderful News - but it just breaks my Heart to read all the previous comments from the Owner - life goes on hold doesn't it ? :(
I can only imagine how utterly distraught & helpless I would be feeling if my own Dog were to go Missing/be Stolen
Isn't this why we ALL Do this ?
whether it is to be an Admin or a Volunteer or 'simply' to Share to all the Groups we know- tweet too .
WHY, when lovely Tobias managed to escape into the garden - or whatever happened - didn't the 'Finder' knock on the Door & ask if He lived there - or take to a Vet or Dog Warden ?!?
Pet Thieves are pure EVIL - I sincerely hope that the Greedy, Evil, Heartless person who Found, didn't Report & either Kept or Sold On lovely Tobias - is VERY HARSHLY Punished
Welcome Home Tobias - I send very Happy New Year Greetings for 2017 to You & Your Family (who can now sleep well at nights )

- To take your new pet to be scanned/chipped at your local vet would be the actions of any genuine person. Why would anyone genuine travel miles for such a small procedure?
- 2016-12-24 10:20 Skywalker99
- Nina, dog was scanned in ware, so assumed his new owners are there, but they bought him in the new forest.

- 2016-12-24 09:59 Skywalker99
- Nina, the new forest is from Tobias' Facebook page, I think the woman told Tobias' owner she bought him in the new forest. Bay dogs, I read that, I believe Tobias/Billy was taken in to be chipped (again from his FB page) so why would they not take details? Tobias owner was on the radio again last night.Last edited: 2016-12-24 10:03:23 by Skywalker99

- This is what the veterinary group say on their website regarding registration-
http://www.waltonlodgevets.com/cms.php?pid=165
The welfare of your animals and pets is our utmost priority. You can register yourself and your pet at Walton Lodge, by downloading our client registration form. It will help speed the registration process greatly if you are able to print off and complete the form prior to attending the surgery. Please bring with you the following documentation to accompany your registration:
A form of identification (Driving Licence, Passport etc.)
A recent Utility bill as proof of current address
Your pet's vaccination record card if it has one
Pet Insurance Certificate if your pet is insured.
But perhaps if a dog was simply brought in to be only scanned....? - 2016-12-24 09:26 Nina
- I have re-read Doglovers message and am puzzled as to where the New Forest come into being. Has anyone thought that Tobias could be in that area and that Ware is a 'red herring'....just my thoughts!
- 2016-12-24 09:17 Skywalker99
- I find it very hard to believe that someone took a dog to a vets to be chipped and they did not take any details, do they offer a walk in service for chipping? Whoever has Tobias/Billy...you will be found, so do the right thing now and give him back.
- 2016-12-24 08:48 Skywalker99

- Although the vets do not have CCTV the vets isnin a parade of shops like an L shape and one of the shops is s newsagent and I am sure they would have CCTV. The person that has Tobias told the owner that she bought him from an Ad in Jollyes Pet stores in the New Forest.....I have phoned the New Forest store and the Harlow Store which is near to Ware.....I was informed that people put ads on their board for two weeks....once the two weeks is up the ads get thrown so unfortunately Jollyes do not keep details...such a shame.....

- Sounds good. Person who has him - PLEASE don't panic and just dump him. Take him to a vet, or a kennel, if you can't face the police. He deserves a happy ending to this story.

- Any one looking for this dog please remember they have now called him BILLY.
- 2016-12-23 15:16 CJ - Police Liaison & SE Regional Coordinator
- AS Tobias was scanned in Ware we think the person maybe from this area- however they may just have used the vets as a one off. What police are now doing is getting details of the withheld number made to owners when they stated to her in a phone call they had Tobias. Once police have the number the net will be closing in so if i were that person i would think twice about keeping him any longer.
- 2016-12-23 15:12 CJ - Police Liaison & SE Regional Coordinator
- The vets kept no record of who bought the dog in to be scanned. They do not have CCTV. Appeals are out by Sussex and Herts police. Who ever has bought Tobias needs to make contact as they have bought STOLEN goods. Alerts are going out to this area and someone must know who has this dog. The longer they keep him the harder it will be for theem.
Do the right thing and make contact now as many eyes are out there watching.

- Trust me things are in place ....it some times takes time....CJ is working together with the police....
- 2016-12-23 14:17 susieq666
- I get sad and frustrated reading this. The police seem to be going through the motions, but there should be enough of a 'trail' left - via the vets etc. - to find the dog. Another scan would then reveal all, and he could go home. Am I naïve? I hope this gorgeous little dog gets to his rightful owner soon.
- 2016-12-23 13:59 Mary
- CJ although Tobias is now shown as stolen his name is still shown as Tobias located. Could it be shown as Tobias sighted in Ware Herts? People local to Ware could then print and distribute. Unless of course Tobias has been located.

- Well done Kelly Rose for telling the story so well, even though it was so upsetting for you. We have supported the story with some social media. For those that don't know, presenter Roberto Perrone has a Chihuahua himself and is always sympathetic to local cases.
- 2016-12-22 17:23 Skywalker99
- Thank you Nik...KellyRose must be beside herself....and I can't help think his new owners must be waiting for a knock on the door....if they are reading this please do the decent thing and hand him back, you have been horribly duped but he is not yours!

- Tobias's owner will be on BBC Three Counties at about 5.45pm talking about this extraordinary story. I will be adding what the vets should have done and didn't !

Does this mean the vets have no idea who came into them last week? Really? - 2016-12-22 14:30 Skywalker99
- Don't get......CJ says been asked not to send out alerts but Sussex police can plaster all over their website and Facebook page? https://sussex.police.uk/news/mystery-of-tobias-the-chi-chihuahua/?utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=SocialSignIn&utm_source=Facebook

We are all best placed to take CJs advice as she certainly knows what she is doing
I realise how frustrating and extremely upsetting the whole situation is for all involved but let us pray for the right outcome here!
Tobias family have kept their search going for this lad and never given up hope in finding him - 2016-12-22 10:55 CJ - Police Liaison & SE Regional Coordinator
- Until i get notification from police i cant change to stolen. Police have asked i do not send out more alerts till he has the details needed and can sort with the other force.
I know is taking its time but better to act along side police to get this sorted with best outcome for owner. - 2016-12-22 08:33 Skywalker99
- I hope the police officer follows up today....the reasoning behind why he didn't get the info yesterday sounds like the person he spoke to at the vet needed to speak to someone more senior before releasing the information. Fingers crossed Tobias will be home soon. Agree about his status Mary.
- 2016-12-21 22:46 Mary
- Admin. Should this dog now be shown as stolen and is it possible for alerts be sent to the area the vet is in and surrounding postcodes for any sightings of this dog?
- 2016-12-21 14:00 Doglover
- I believe that Petlog recorded the actual time of the scan so the Vets will be able to marry this up with whoever had an appointment at that time, or whoever was on duty at that time...
- 2016-12-21 11:13 CJ - Police Liaison & SE Regional Coordinator
- An officer from Sussex police has been allocated spoken to owner and he then called me to update. He has phoned the vets and awaiting requested details. It seems the person at the vets who scanned the dog is not working today and they do not seem to record anything when they do scan! He will call back if not heard by tomorrow and will keep me updated.
- 2016-12-21 10:14 Skywalker99
- From Tobias' facebook page:
'Sorry no update yet.
I have barely slept since Friday, to be honest it's all catching up with me, Since August my focus has been Tobias, My children hardly had a summer holiday, they walked miles with me , handing out leaflets and putting them through doors, entertaining themselves whilst I searched the internet for hours on end, Hollie never complained, not even once. I have ploughed through these past 137 days with one focus and that's to get our boy home. On Friday, day 132, I received a call that completely knocked the wind out of me, I collapsed to my knees, crying and unable to breath, he was alive, he was OK, the relief, but then the news they didn't want to part with him. Tobias is a little dog with a huge heart who has made a massive impact on not just the lives of my family, but all of you as well.
I'm unwell, I have a terrible earache and I want to sleep for days, not yet though, not until our darling boy is home with his family, where he belongs, to be showered by love from everyone who has missed him, particularly a little girl who adores him and has never given up hope that he will be found and only asked for him home for Christmas and a little boy with special needs who found a best friend in the most unlikely of places. #bringtobiashome #chihuahua #teamtobias' - 2016-12-20 18:46 Skywalker99
- This must be so frustrating for kellyrose, on the one hand she knows her boy is safe so all those horrible thoughts about what may have happened to him stop...but she has no idea when she will see him again...hope the police process this quickly.
- 2016-12-20 10:04 CJ - Police Liaison & SE Regional Coordinator
- Now spoken with owner who has my contact details if needs further help. Sussex Police have allocated a CRN but it is still under investigation. The team dealing will speak to owner and i have asked to be updated. This should be done withing 48 hours of the report. Once they have spoken to owner they can inform her of what will be done. I have spoken to Herts police where the person at call center who took the call gave advise on correct procedure.
- 2016-12-20 09:34 CJ - Police Liaison & SE Regional Coordinator
- Spoken to a nice man at petlog who has recorded the CRN so details cannot be changed. Dog is marked now as stolen.
- 2016-12-20 09:03 CJ - Police Liaison & SE Regional Coordinator
- Making contact with police but been off sick for a few days- hence my lack of input- after a small procedure in hosptial on Thursday think i caught a bug and spent weekend in bed fighting it off.
Now getting back to my normal police mode so seeing what i can do to sort this out! - 2016-12-20 06:01 Unknown
- OMG Kellyrose everything crossed for you I have only just seen this (I have a sick dog so not on here much at the mo)
I truly pray he is home for Christmas you have my email addy if you need me

- You should get your lovely dog back. If you don't then this case could set a very dangerous president for future dogs that are stolen/lost - finders are not keepers regardless. YOU kellyrose are the rightful owner of this dog. Tuff for the person who bought this dog without any genuine paperwork or previous proof of ownership - Tobias goes 'Home'
- 2016-12-19 20:03 Skywalker99
- Jayne, couldn't agree more, but one victim was well and truly duped and has learnt a lesson the hard way. However, Tobias needs to go home. I hope the scumbag that pocketed £700 can be traced....and it should be noted that the people who do this can and do provide false paperwork (see Ginny the border terrier whose new owner was given forged chip papers). Shouldn't his status now be 'stolen, rather than lost...
- 2016-12-19 18:55 Turtle

- 2016-12-19 17:09 Jayne - Founder Doglost.
- The law agrees....but the law takes time...we are working on reducing that time....by communicating.....and as always there are two victims when a dog gets stolen and sold on...the owner and the new "owner"...Both are in turmoil at the moment.
- 2016-12-19 16:46 susieq666
- It doesn't matter that the new 'owner' paid money for him. He was stolen! This used to happen with cars, until routine checking before buying took hold. Whoever had handed over money, simply lost out - their problem. I'm not suggesting for a minute that cars and dogs are the same. I hope the person who paid £700 knows who they paid it to, and that it wasn't a 'carpark' deal, but anyway, the dog is not theirs to keep. Surely the law agrees.
- 2016-12-19 16:34 ClaireC

- Oh Kellyrose what a rollercoaster! Luck should not be a factor here, Tobias belongs to you and all this nonsense about someone else not wanting to hand him over is just awful. For now he is safe and I really hope with the help of the people at Doglost he is soon back home. Keeping everything crossed he is home very quickly.

- kellyrose - sometimes Admin dont get to read all the comments are there are so many - as a back up could I suggest you send an email to admin@doglost.co.uk with Tobias name in the header and giving the information below asking for advice. Hopefully, other members will see your comments and offer advice. My suggestion is that you need legal advice.

- I received a call at 17.47 on 16th Dec, from a lady saying she went to get him chipped and he already had one with my details, I said I wanted him back, she said her daughter paid £700 for him, she doesnt want to give him back, what do I do?
- 2016-12-18 09:28 kellyrose
- Tobias' chip was scanned at Walton Lodge Vet Group on Friday 16th December. 9, The Green, Hertfordshire, SG12 0QW 01920466355. Seems the lady who called me has him, however the vets went against data protection and gave my details. I can't speak to anyone until 8.30 tomorrow morning. Any further advice would be appreciated in how/where I go from here.

- The Chichester post have spoken to me this evening and will give him a page on Friday, hoping to reach people who don't have the internet.
- 2016-08-21 14:57 Unknown
- I was really praying for some sort of news after Tobias was in the paper
Where are you little one?
- 2016-08-18 16:11 Skywalker99
- it says on his FB page that there is now a Reward for Tobias safe return
- 2016-08-18 13:05 Skywalker99
- any chance of getting him in the Chichester Herald as well as the observer? Also...any churches that do parish newsheets?.
Also...Gyms, community centres, clubs. I would also contact cleaning and care agencies as these go into peoples homes, plus local taxi firms and postmen (get a poster in the sorting office)

Stay safe darling xxxx - 2016-08-18 11:46 kellyrose
- Thank you so much for your kind support, I take on board all advice and we really are doing all we can, I am totally broken, I just don't know what to do now. We have been offered a reward for his safe return but I don't know how I can word it etc, will figure something out and get it up today. Thanks again x
- 2016-08-18 11:10 Skywalker99
- Also....I think it would be very unusual for a fox to ave taken him? I know there have been instances but they do not see dogs as prey?
- 2016-08-18 11:09 Skywalker99
- From Tobias' facebook this morning: Last night was particularly hard to get any sleep, imagining all sorts of things that could have happened to Tobias, I wake every morning and hope he is downstairs waiting for a kiss and a cuddle and for me to take him outside and find that these past 12 days have been a nightmare, they haven't though and this is very real. I do understand that some people can't understand fully my grief at not having him here and wonder why I continue to look and don't give up now, he isn't 'just' a pet, he isn't 'just' a dog, he is a huge part of our family and we all love him. I can not accept that he was only supposed to be with us for just 6.5 months, I can not believe that any higher power would give us something that filled our hearts with such joy just to take him away again. He has to come home, he just has to.

- I hate to mention it but have any foxes made an earth in neighbouring gardens? They certainly are living in urban Chichester.
- 2016-08-17 14:40 Unknown
- Skywalker99 I have mailed Kellyrose on everything I can think of I am sure they have done everything possible and still are, also I mentioned in one of my earlier posts about checking sheds and Network Rail ect
But please keep your thoughts coming all are appreciated as there is always something anyone may have forgotton
Keeping everything crossed for the local paper tomorrow and good news hopefully!! - 2016-08-17 13:47 Skywalker99
- no chance he got trapped in the garden or a neighbouring garden? Have notces gone up at the hospital? They should also have an intranet system for staff...wonder if they would put something on there? I'm guessing family can't offer a reward or they would have done so...so the person who has Tobias needs to give him back. Now.
- 2016-08-17 12:21 Unknown
- Really heartbreaking I am watching sites ect for him my husband knows the owner and how desperately hard they are trying to find him he was out looking as soon as he went missing
Come on Tobias lad please be seen - 2016-08-17 11:40 Skywalker99
- Tobias facebook page is public so if you click on the link in the thread below you should be able to see it...this is one post from it:
'So, as we reach the start of the second week the pain has not eased, I woke up this morning and simply cried, Tobias is our whole world wrapped up in a tiny bundle and I'm left wondering how anyone can do this, can keep him when they must know there is a family who are missing him, How will we heal from this? I am feeling guilty for laughing because, well, how can I? how can I laugh, smile or play with the children or laugh at something from the telly when Tobias isn't here! I feel as though I am betraying him in some way by simply smiling. Today we are adding more posters around the area and surrounding areas as some have been removed. We are also worried that he won't get scanned, what if he is at a vets or kennels and they haven't scanned him, it isn't compulsory to, yet it is law to microchip but the two don't go hand in hand. What if he is there just waiting for us to pick him up, If we don't within a week he can be re homed, how is that right or fair? So many thoughts run through my brain 24 hours a day, he is forefront in my mind when I am awake and when I sleep. Somebody somewhere knows where he is and I'm not quite sure how you sleep at night and carry on with your day when you know there is a family going out of their minds. Today will be productive again and hoping against hope that my phone rings!' - 2016-08-17 07:08 Unknown
- Skywalker99 I like many people am not on facebook so I can only read the open profile page ones, I have tried to find Tobias with no luck but can only imagine what another family are actually going through shear devastation
Keeping everything crossed for you Kelly that Tobias goes in the local paper this week as it covers a really large area, if someone has picked him up not realising they should report finding him they will hopefully then get him scanned.
Not everyone realises they should report a found dog and Tobias would if found by such a person melt anyones heart.
We have his poster up at my work place in Midhurst as well for you.
Stay strong Kelly and family
Come on Tobias you need to be back home where you belong.
Stay safe little one xxxx - 2016-08-16 15:55 Skywalker99

- Have removed the house number.
- 2016-08-15 16:05 Skywalker99
- should full address be on here? However having looked at google earth would seem unlikely Tobias got out of the garden by himself....so who could see into the garden? who knew you had him?
- 2016-08-15 12:08 Skywalker99
- Tobias now has a facebook page. https://www.facebook.com/bringtobiashome/ he went missing when owner's son went into the kitchen to get a drink, so a young child is feeling very confused.

- I feel so sick and scared for my little boy. We have shared where we can, enquired where we can, looked where we can, postered, leaflet dropped, stopped to ask people in the street, door knocked. looked in bushes, on roundabouts, in bins, we are doing all we can yet feels like it isn't enough!, I don't understand how, if he is being kept by someone that no one knows, someone does know and I feel incredibly incredibly sad, I don't know how we will get over this if he doesn't come homeLast edited: 2016-08-09 18:29:29 by kellyrose

- I really hate putting this but have you made Network Rail aware, Highways, checked sheds, garages anywhere he might hide sounds silly but sometimes dogs are afraid to make a noise if they are stuck anywhere.
We as humans just assume we would hear a dog barking or crying but I know from expierience this is not always the case.
Did you manage to get him the local paper? they are always more than willing to help
