I am so sorry for your sad loss. You have had a very difficult time. I just wanted you to know that I still look out for Sally where ever I go locally. You never know, one day one of us may spot her. Good luck, love from Julie and Boxers Lewis and Molly xxxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Unfortunately the Dogs Trust dog wasn't Sally.

Owner has spoken to someone at the Leeds Centre, the dog they had, Dusty, was rehomed last week but they are looking at her file to see if she is in fact Sally.

This is an absolute long shot and I'm only posting because of the similarities in looks between the two dogs. There is an elderly female dog in the Dogs Trust Rehoming Centre in Leeds who is very similar to Sally, circumstances state that she was neglected and underweight and taken from 'owners' by RSPCA.
I know Leeds is way off from where Sally went missing but everything is worth checking out. Text sent to owner to take a look at link.

So very sorry to hear of your loss Sally's mum.....our thoughts go out to you. I know it is very difficult especially when no calls or sightings. But keep posters up in the area she went missing from, I know it was a while ago now but often dogs turn up not that far from where they went missing from. You could always contact the local councils again, just to confirm she is still missing and you are still searching. We all hope very much that Sally is home with you one day very soon. xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Are you still going down to Laindon and looking around near Somerfield. That sighting sounded promising, and if someone around there has maybe taken her in, it might be worth going down there again. I'm free most afternoons if you want someone to go with.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

On my way back home today, quite near to me, I saw 3 Police Officers walking along the road. Thought I should seize the opportunity so jumped out the car with poster of Sally in hand and asked them to display on the noticeboard back at the station (probably Southend) which they said they would do and they seemed genuinely concerned.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Sorry to hear there has been no news or calls. Keep the posters going up and hopefully you'll get a sighting soon. You could try combining forces with Kelly, owner of the 3xCocker Spaniels stolen from Kent, believed to be around Basildon (under postcode SS13 on here), maybe handing out posters at a couple of boot sales or the market?? xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I went back to Southchurch park yesterday morning, a bit later, about 8.30ish. More people around, so I asked everybody I saw if they'd seen Sally - no luck. It seems that all the posters jave been removed too. I could see where one had been ripped down. Put some food down in case Sally is there.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Went to Southchurch park at first light yesterday, about 6.45. I spent an hour over there, I scoured the place, but no sign of her. My dog clearly thought I had lost my mind - he couldn't understand why I was calling my own name. If Sally is in the park, there are lots of places she could take shelter should she need to. There's also a cafe, so there is food around. I didn't see any posters - is someone taking them down? I'm going over there again now.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I met Sallys owner this morning at Waitrose, as she doesn't know this area we both got into my car and off we went. We postered Southchurch Road, Woodgrange Drive and Southchurch Park, we spoke to a few people and one lady said there was a dog fitting Sallys description in Leigh on Monday. So we drove all the way along the seafront to Leigh and put a few posters up there, pet shop owner confirmed Staff caught and taken to Police Station, alas not Sally as this one was claimed. A few more posters were put up along the Broadway and we headed back to Southend. Called in at the Police Station and was told they only keep dogs for 2 hours and if the owner didn't make contact during that time the dogs were sent to Gemini (who are aware of Sally). Policeman not unsympathetic and said He would try to put poster somewhere in back offices. SO more people are aware & lots more posters up, lets just hope that this leads to Sally being returned. Anything else I can do?? Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

i didn t pay anything as it was a circle which i sat in on, however i did show recent poster of sally as above, but they also said she had been taken to a field around the back of my house which there is, but then she had been moved, i will definitely be putting posters out down there either sometime later today or in the morning, i do understand what you have said and don t take everything as gospel but as you said i really want sally back and as has been so long now need to try everything,Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I remember other people on dog lost seeking the help of psychics so I am sure no one will think you are mad. We all understand you want to do everything possible to get Sally home. Just one question out of interest, did you tell the psychic about the possible Southend sighting? Southchurch is between Southend and Thorpe Bay. Areas worth postering near/around - Southend High School for Girls, Southchurch Hall Park, the Kursaal, Seafront, Southchurch Rd, Woodgrange Drive. And obviously vets, dog warden, police in that area too.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I don't think your completely mad, it's not something that I would normally try BUT I could change my mind if one of my dogs was missing for a while. Just be careful how much you pay and don't take everything thing they tell you as fact. Good luck in finding Sally - hoping it's not longLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

i hope everyone doesn t think i m completely mad but last night i went to sit in a pcychic circle and brought poster and toy of sallys with me, I was told she had been picked up in a red estate car and took to southend to a place called southchurch, i don t know southend but seemed very odd as she was sighted there other week, apparently shes in a terraced hse, and the people know they should have taken her to kennels but haven t, she is apparently missing home and whining, but is cared for and fed. please i know this is a long shot but if anyone lives in southend and knows southchurch pls put some posters out for me, i am trying to get up there to have a look around but need to check out were exactly to go to. This reminds me of our dog, she looked just like Sally & we kept getting sightings, eventally after 4+ weeks she either escaped or they just let her out & luckily someone we knew found her wandering as she was lost. Keep walking around, especially your normal walking area's. If she does get out she may well try to find her way home. Good luck & I hope she's home soon.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Great there is another possible sighting - I think Laindon needs to be postered heavily.....if the dog was Sally and the man is taking her out and about it will only be a matter of time till another sighting. I would help but its a little too far away for me and I have other commitments. I would suggest ensuring VRCC Vets Centre are aware and email to all Laindon vets again but I am sure others more experienced will advise. Good Luck.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Sally's owner I was wondering if you are in contact with anyone from where you used to live - have you been living in Basildon long? It is possible that Sally may be trying to find her way back to your previous home, therefore it would be worth contacting dog rescues/wardens, vets etc that would be en route and in the area you used to live. I have given posters out to a few dog walkers and most evenings I have a search on the internet for any found dogs. Try to keep positive She's out there somewhere. Keep safe Sally but please show us where you are. xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Sallys owner - Not everyone who is helping posts on the site so hopefully there is more going on than we are aware of. You are doing a fantastic job and I know you will keep at it. Please everyone, even if you only put a poster of Sally in your car it is a help. As Jot says, as we haven't had more sightings yet, we will have to carry on postering and contacting everywhere and everyone. Just need one lucky break so the more people aware of Sally the better. Any help with postering anywhere would be appreciated. We are all here for you Cath and if you ever need a chat or anything you know you can call us.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi Sally's owner, Haven't put any messages on here for a couple of days but am still looking on here every day to see if you have Sally back yet. I keep a couple of posters on me when taking my dogs out so I can show people that I meet and I always keep a spare lead with me. I live between Basildon and Southend so you never know. I often get strange looks from people when emptying my coat pockets when I go shopping as I also have a couple of posters, dog biscuits, a toy, pooh bags and a lead. hello everyone went to southend again this morning and put some posters up in b and q and waitrose, had phone call from lady not long ago saying she saw notice on her road eastcote grove round the back of b and q,and she said number was rayleigh police station and mobile number , i rang both numbers and police took my number and details but were really unhelpful so got mobile number which lady kindly went round corner to fetch as had only give me other number at first, so rang up and apparently lady had found dog on 10-09-07 but had gone to acres kennels and was a boy, however if dog fitting sallys description other day theres still a chance it could be her so ladys are kindly looking out for me. just hope i get some luck and get sally back,i miss her, thanks for enhancing photo.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I understand that at the moment the dog warden that covers the Shoebury area is currently on leave, dogs picked up in this area are usually taken to or collected by Acres Way Kennels. It is probably worth contacting them again and letting them know where this sighting was so they can also keep a look out for Sally if they have to go out that way.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Left a message about the sighting on Gemini's phone. Hopefully Michael will keep his eyes open when he is out on his travels. As Jot says, that bit of the Eastern Avenue is quite a long bit. Do we have anyone close to the area who could maybe take some posters to the various B&Q's, Morrisons, Waitrose or any of the other shops around there?Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

The new B and Q store near Southend (at Fossetts Fm) is near Shoebury (is that what you mean??) but there is no Morrisons nearby - Waitrose is fairly close. The old Access building is 3/4 miles away - right near Priory Park. I think the road is Eastern Avenue which runs from A127. Do you know if it was right near BandQ she was seen or just along that road somewhere (which is fairly long)?Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I think the nearest B and Q to the A127 is the Basildon one but obviously need confirmation from owner as to which one the sighting was near. There are some houses (a lot with stables) every now and again along the A127 itself so worth letting these people know as if she is that close to the A127 she needs to be caught asap. If it is instead the new b and q at Fossetts Farm, then a whole new area needs to be postered as that is a fair distance from Basildon. Hope Sally is found safe and well soon. x Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Welcome to Dog Lost Cath x Have emailed 'Still Missing' posters of Sally again to following Dog Warden's - Basildon, Benfleet, Braintree, Brentwood, Chelmsford, Clacton, Epping, Harlow, Havering, Maldon, Newham, Rochford, Southwark, Thurrock, Tower Hamlets, Uttlesford, Waltham Forest. Misc - Resting Pets, Fancy Fido. Kennels - Bareham, Chalet, Chingford, Gemini, Ladybird, London & Essex, Normandale, Novem, Wallace, Wanderers. Media - BBC Radio Essex, Time FM. Rescues - Battersea, Chance Pixies, Dogs Trust, Mayhew, Mistley, Mutts in Distress, NAWT, Springer Rescue, Terrier Rescue, Wood Green. Vets - Animal Ark, Ardmore, Companion Care at Beckton, Chelmsford, Harlow & Romford, Elmhouse, EVHG, Goddards Group, House & Jackson, Medivet Southend, PVGs, Tiptrees & Wylies. My fax has packed up so please if Cath or anyone can pm me I can email you a large list of contacts (Excel format) that can be faxed again (too big to post here). Have covered a larger area this time just in case. Cath have you contacted local radio? If not try BBC Radio Essex on 01245 616066, this is for urgent news but explain a poster has been emailed and see what they can do or email angela.lodge@bbc.co.uk or georgette.ginn@bbc.co.uk with a brief story mentioning the part about Sallys new home, any children in the family that are missing her etc. Time FM may help too on 01708 741075 (poster has been emailed). With the media you really have to 'play up' the points that will be of interest to them. Rotten I know but kids, elderly people, illness or disabilities - anything you can think of to make your story a bit different from the rest. Also, as you have paid to have ads in the local press try and get some lineage free of charge. When you call them ask for the news desk rather than classified and see what they can do. You are doing a great job and fingers crossed you hear some good news soon. xxx Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I think the local Animal Welfare Trust have kennels somewhere along the A127 they don't take in strays but they must get quite a few visitors/volunteers to help with the dogs there so it would be another good place to poster, try this no 01702 552951 not sure if the no. is up to date but they regularly advertise in the local yellow advertiser. Hi Sally's owner, my vet and Acres Way now have a poster on display. I don't drive so its difficult for me to get any posters out in your area but if i think of anywhere in my area that may help I will put posters up (and take them down when Sally is home). This is the adress for Ashingdon Heights Kennels,The Nest, Durham Road, Rocford, Essex SS4 3AE. Have you thought of getting posters to the following places in your area - Kingstown Kennels, they are a quarantine and boarding kennels along the A127 but have a large and quite popular pet food and accessories store on site. VRCC in Laindon , they are a veterinary specialist on an industrial site in Laindon. Billericay dog training club, another well visited place by dog owners in Basildon area. I have to go out soon but I will try to put together a list of places with their phone no's and adresses for you that could be worth taking or sending posters to. Hopefully I can get this put on here tonight Hope you get some good news soonLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Sally's owner. If you can get an email address for them, we can send it, or you could post one if you ring them for exact address. Have you had anything in the local paper yet? only it would be a good idea to get something with a photo of her in the evening echo, on a Thursday or Friday when most papers are sold. Just ring up the news desk and see how much it would cost. The paper does reach a lot of people, and also the Yellow Advertiser, the free paper. they may run something, as been very helpfull before. I live in Thundersley not too far from Acres Way Kennels, they are the local dog pound for Southend and surrounding area. Although this isn't the area Sally went missing from she may have headed this direction as its not too far away. Have they been contacted and do they have a poster, if they don't have a poster I can take one there for you as I know the owner. Also is there still a pdsa clinic in Pitsea would be worth contacting them. Will also take a poster to my vets (Andrew Deans - Riverside Vets - Hart Road, Thundersley). My word, hello Cath. So pleased you have finally made it on here. As you can see we have still been working on Sally and handing out her posters. You must keep postering, as someone knows something about her, that's for sure. Please also pay regular visits to the rescue kennels. Novem kennels especially. So many dogs come back that have been missing many many weeks, so please just keep going. Poster new areas all the time, and replace old posters as they come down. If you place them in plastic pockets with the opening at the bottom they will last a very long time. Good luck xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Mutts and owner had chat and match seemed possible. Owner visited Mutts but dog was not Sally (did look very much like her tho). Everyone obviously gutted. Owner has given out posters and spoken to various people today. Some kids have told owner that they thought they saw Sally with an older man & woman at the Boot Sale opposite Barleyland Farm on Saturday. She was being carried which seems strange. How reliable this sighting is we don't know but worth investigating. I will start emailing and faxing nearer to me tomorrow (Chadwell Heath/Romford) as owner wants to extend the area. Can poster please be changed as owner wants it now to show ?cash reward. Jeepsmi is right that owner is depressed and it's heart breaking. Will update tomorrow when I've sent some posters. Owner has had Sally two years, but have recently moved to this area. Has visited Novem kennels, Acres Way and Gemini. Has informed police, dog wardens etc, and has been postering local area, including supermarkets and pet shops. Have asked her to contact local paper and will go to library and hopefully run off some of our posters, and register. As Dianne has said already, this owner is feeling very very low. She is not sleeping, as she is so worried about Sally. Have spoken to her re- travellers at Crays Hill. Have explained that Sally needs to be made too hot to handle with hundreds of posters. Very friendly little dog, so may have been taken in. Any encouragement for her from local helpers would be so lovely. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I go to Basildon town centre sometimes and will keep my eyes and ears open. Posters need to be displayed as soon as possible on notice boards, lamp posts, entrances to parks, dog bins and on cars. Take posters to vets, pet shops, postmen (for sorting offices), milkmen, dustmen, street cleaners, taxi drivers, schools, pubs, youth clubs, newsagents, post offices, takeaways, dog training clubs, supermarkets and car parks. Hand out reduced-down posters or cards to people - especially dog walkers - and deliver to houses and businesses. Police stations, Dog Wardens, the RSPCA and all rescue centres need checking frequently and preferably visited in person by owner or someone who knows Sally well. Stay safe Sally until you are found x Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
