  • Other Info This dogs photo has just been shared on a local Facebook group. Apparently it has been living rough for some years at a quarry and visits people at Elsenham Golf Club. I am shocked to read that people seem to think it is okay for it to live wild. People are saying it has never been caught or checked for a microchip. It must surely have belonged to someone and may have been stolen sometime ago and dumped here. From the posts I have read I believe it is a female.

Such a shame that this dog spent years living outside on its own was it ever checked out by a dog warden ?
ClaireC
Requested update from dog warden but she is away until 15 Sep. Will update if I receive a response or Suek may update.

Hi everyone , are there any updates on this girl ? I have a champagne gsd that had been missing since 2010 ( Alaska - missing from RH7 )and this looks very similar . Has she been caught and checked for a chip ? My girl was microchipped . Thanks x
ClaireC
Hopefully Suek will update us all if confirmed it is the "wanderer"

I've joined the page Allison mentioned, but couldn't see the post with this pic in it, so maybe it's been taken off? I did find the post about the one suek mentioned that was found in May and his pic (although taken through a car window) does look very similar to me.

I personally dont think this is a stray as looks in good condition! The coat doesnt look matted, dirty etc. I too think a dog that likes to wander as suek has suggested!

I don't think this is the dog from the quarry, as she hasn't been seen for some time now but was first reported to me in December 2007. She was being fed by locals but despite numerous attempts to catch her, she always moved on.
However in May this year (2016) a stray white GSD was taken into the vets and later reunited with the owner from the exact same area, I am looking into this as a dog that may be straying on a regular basis and going home each evening.

RAYDEDICOAT I have been asking different people and most seem to think this dogs has been living rough at the quarry for a number of years but hasn't actually been seem for some weeks now. So worrying. Not that many miles from mine and had I have known this I too would have been down there like a shot.

hi! one and all,if further investigations could be made as regards this one living on a TIP, then i am more than willing to go to her and hopefully catch her..with all the good will in the world NO domestic animal should be subjected to this way of life, yes she may be getting food etc. but where is her loyalty, her security, her peace of mind, her love that GSD,s are so good at giving.I am no stranger to seeing animals in this situation and believe me I know which way they would choose, once they are helped...,Set up a feeding station,if one is,nt already set up and i can be there in 45mins!!!!. If ever she needs a vet, RTA,or even fox mange, the story may have a different ending. If she has an owner then i urge you to report them to the authorities,, please do something.

Here's the link to the Facebook group it was mentioned on. I agree with those on here that say the dog looks in good condition for an animal that has been living rough however I have since spoken with other people that have said they have heard about this dog living by the quarry so appears to be well known in the area. Not sure if there is waste disposal there but if so it probably forages for food waste. There was the main post for a male GSD that was found and reunited and further down the posts this dog that locals to the area say has lived there for some years.

Could be a local dog that goes walkabout every day, but goes home at night? Agree doesn't look like it's living wild
Rose
I certainly agree doesnt look in bad condition for supposedly living wild. Must have been getting food somewhere! Hope someone able to catch x

This dog does actually look very fit and well for saying it's been living wild. Anyone agree xx

Is there a link to the facebook page? I had a look, but I can't see it. Does it say if anyone has tried to catch the dog? I am not far from Elsenham and would be happy to go over if there is a chance the dog would be caught. Last edited: 2016-08-17 11:24:35 by fh
