- What a great result!!!
Just shows how important it is to remain calm and patient and to limit the amount of people once it is known where a dog feels safe.
Welcome home Eva and thank you to all involved in getting her home. 😁 - 2016-09-21 19:30 Jayne - Founder Doglost.

- So please to hear Eva has been caught safe and well. There has been a great team of people working to bring her in all these weeks. This 'small' extract taken from the Find Eva facebook page. Well done everyone !!! AND WELCOME HOME EVA !
"Ok....here you are...bit long ..sorry.
The story.....
Eva has always been in the forest area. She had created her own scent trail which she followed not realising it was never going to take her anywhere. Every time she did her route she simply re laid her scent. A perpetual circle.
Map shows what we had to work with and how we kept her in a tight space, geographically.
We changed some spotters locations to enable us to keep her in one rough spot while reducing her triangle.
We knew her route. And likely days and times of visits. Wanting to set up a feeding station, then trap if needbe but restricted by forestry rules.
Hampered so many times, the marathon, two drifts, tree felling and weather. Couldn't get her to settle in this busy environment.
Part of her route involved going through private land owned by Ness Stokes
You might remember seeing a pic of her in a field ? Yesturday she went there again.
About 60 feet away. We swooped, metaphorically, Ness offered to help us and got some food down quickly. Eva wasn't scared of Ness...was happy to eat the food while Ness was laying on the ground in sight.
We hatched the plan. The only human allowed there was Ness. From lunchtime till way past dark Eva came for food, 7 times, knowing Ness was there.
Each time she ate and left we asked Ness to bring the food 2 foot closer and for her to advance a couple of feet. By nightfall we had moved her 30 feet closer. While on the phone to Ness at 11am ish she just appeared next to her.
Then it was just to dark and we had lost our advantage. It was Eva's domain now.
This morning, all set up. We waited and waited. Ness cancelled everything to repeat the day again. Same plan, only Ness there. Dare not introduce another human for fear of flight or fight mode kicking in. Talking Ness through it we realised she was perfect for the role, calm, sensible...and not scared of the dark lol
Tick tock....purgatory...no Eva. Then she appeared...Seen through the window approaching Ness's chair....took food and left. Ness went out, with her bacon, and sat on chair...making sure she didn't look in Eva's direction. Pretending to eat crisps from a rustle noisy bag.
Eva returned, back and fro'ing. Ness flicked a crisp in her direction. Eva dared to come and take it, then backed off. Ness threw out a trail and eva zig zagged towards her collecting the tit bits as she came closer.
Both pretending not to look at each other. She got her right in close. Right next to her. Could feel her breath almost. Ness stayed still and calm. Eva took food from floor by the chair. Allowed Ness to stroke her ear. Then BAM while her hand was on her ear Ness gripped her collar and held on for dear life. Madam fought a little but soon succumbed to Ness's calm ways. She was never going to be caught....she had to give herself up.. And she did And there you have it. !!
I, personally, would like to thank the team of ladies and gents who worked tirelessly every day thank you so much.....but most importantly I want to thank and praise Nicky Waddell Kate Hurcombe Gemma Cox Angela Harnett and obviously the wonderful Ness without whose help and grounded calmness, we couldn't of brought this about so swiftly.
As for Kate, in awe, she worked so hard and it was a privilege to work with her. Respect Kate x

- So pleased she has finally given herself up. Apparently she has bad wind, not surprising after what she's probably been existing on! Our New Forest is not the worst place she could have chosen to hang out, my Bess tells me every day she wants to stay out there! Welcome home Eva, it will be better at home though. xx

- Owner's daughter has messaged me to say that there has been a possible sighting at Wootton Bridge, which, if true, could mean that Eva is trying to get home to where she lives. Jayne/Adminstrator, please could you send alerts to helpers in BH25 which is the New Milton area. I am in BH25, we are right on the border with the SO postcodes.
