- There was a sighting of a black labrador wandering on a footpath known as St Michaels way, yesterday, sometime before 2pm. The info has been posted to the fb page 'friends of St Michaels way'
A sighting this morning of a lab on Longrock beach is also being investigated. - 2016-08-30 23:07 Zim3
- So on a farm I'm guessing 6-30am is not that early ? Has he had his breakfast by that time? Would there be any comings and goings of vehicles that he may have jumped into or could someone have taken him?

- Hi Max. I have just seen the mining map of this land supplied by Graham Wall of CBC.
https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10153810895427724&set=p.10153810895427724&type=3&theater
Thank you Graham Wall and Mark Thomas for your help. I hope Toby has stayed within the confines of this land which is quite a sizeable parcel but has less hazards than beyond.
As the owner thought he might have ventured down to Marazion, today the section of St Michael's Walk from Marazion to the boundary of their land has been walked. (The whole trail is over twelve miles long and finishes at St Uny church Lelant)
Unfortunately no sightings but the terrain isn't open enough in most parts to see very far. The Red River runs alongside at the beginning and there is a warning notice about it's depth. Many areas are concealed altogether by the reed beds so listening was more useful than looking, and no rustling or squelching was heard in the water or red boggy mud. There are also stiles either side of the railway line, then there is a wooden slatted bridge across the bog to the A394 and the owner's land. There are shafts shown on Max's streetmap to the right and left of this section but they are not visible and I was not aware of them. Across the A394 there is another stile which continues this trail across the owner's land. If Toby has found his way to this trail, then I personally feel a young lad like him could have easily scaled these stiles so have suggested Network Rail is informed as a precaution.
The reed bed at Marazion (biggest in the county) was also watched from various RSPB points. There is a dog ban on parts of these but I doubt he read the notices :) Ditto the beach.
Various dogwalkers were accosted and made aware. The car park attendant had already been approached by a relative of the owner.
Hoping for good news soon. - 2016-08-30 14:59 Max - Area Co-ordinator - Cornwall & Area Volunteer - Durham & Ireland
- Baydogs, there are only 2 mines as far as we know ( yet to get a map), but it seems they may only be about 15-20 feet deep. Have advised owner that if she suspects he is down one, the first port of call is the fire brigade, as they are equipped also to deal with something like this & if any further help is needed then I can speak to Carbis Bay Crew.
Have suggested re-searching land, in case he is injured &/or trying to get back home. - 2016-08-29 19:25 Baydogs
- This lad went missing around 6.30 this morning from the owner's property near Varfell Roundabout but there is a trail that goes through their land down to Marazion which is why they wondered if he went down that way.
He is not walked off the farm (so has not gone on any familiar routes all on his own) and has never run off before. He does not tolerate heat well so may have holed up somewhere in the shade ....hopefully to return when it becomes cooler.
Both radio stations have been notified and word is already spreading across FB. Main Penzance to Paddington line nearby but well fenced off. Highways to be notified in morning.
@Max. Obviously mines all over this area. Any uncapped that Mark Thomas may know of?
Hoping he is back home soon :)
