Oh dear. I thought Jerry would be back or there would have been some news. 1 thing though - he must be living somewhere or surely you would have heard something by now. Would it be worth collecting together information about other missing dogs in the same area and tryibg to get the papers interested in a story, I know they don't always seem that bothered but I have adopted the keep pestering gambit with them. If more than 1 dog is involved surely they will have to give in. Well you would hope anyway.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Our dog Rosie went missing from WA2 and was found in Sanky Bridges. The only way she could have gotten there was on foot and she must have got over the dual carraigeway to get there. It didnt cross my mind that she could get that far. She was found in an old church yard. Some nice people were feeding her. Lets hope that might be Jerry in Great Sanky. Hi, just me sticking my beak in again. The area where Jerry went from is blocked in by what looks like a very busy dual carriageway, I google earthed you again. I really can't see him going across any of thembut the highways may have picked him up. these can be rin by different people to the council. There are a lot of houses at the edge of those fields and a couple of houses/farms dotted in there. I would definitely say he has to be still local or someone in those properties knows what has become of him. I know it's a big area of housing you have there but someone does know where he is. Are there any other dogs missing in the area that would mean it would be more of an item for the papers. I know Majorjet said about the Merseymart but are there other papers that my help. My postman is lovely and is proud of the fact that he knows the area and can get mail to where it belongs even if it is address incorrectly, is your postman a regular will he know the area and would he help by giving the other posties in the areas the poster? Anyone who is regularly in the areas delivery men (even for the pubs) - grab them tell them and ask them to take the poster. There also looks like there are a couple of businesses (big car parking spaces) on the edge of the fields, did they call the police or dog warden or the local kennels because a dog was messing in their bins? I found out recently that an area I thought was in the same postcode area wasn't - it was even a different county, so they may have contacted someone you had not considered if the same has happened here. COME ON IN JERRY YOUR TIME IS NOW UP. IT IS TIME TO SHOW YOURSELF AND COME HOME!!!!Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Elliedog thanks for your continued support. Yvonne three seperate dogs in the North this week have gone over to the BLUE and they had been with the finder not far from where they lived. Some people find a dog and do not realise they should report them to the local authorities. Keep up the postering and as Elliedog says target houses in the area using the smaller posters I sent to you. Jan xxx Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi Yvonne, I have sent you a PM. I am so sorry Jerry is not home yet. I really hope you will see him soon. Keep pestering people and poster - poster poster. Just another thought if there is an area that is mainly eldery would it be an idea to put the posters though the door just to make sure they know you are looking or is there anywhere else that this maybe an idea? I will keep putting posters up and keep an eye on which area specifically they disapear from maybe that will narrow my search down. I just hope whoever has him is looking after him and makin him feel loved like he was at home xxxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

If the posters are on the telephone boxes, they will be taken down when they are cleaned. If there is a telephone post near the boxes put one on there instead or a lampost. If they still go missing I would have a suspicion that some-one may be trying to hide something. I'm not saying that he is in that area but he could well be. As I have gone though this site I have seen that a lot of people say the same and as I said all the posters we put up had gone in the area Ellie was in. x Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I am so sorry to see that Jerry is not back yet, I really hope it won't be much longer. Just another thought. We found that in the area we got Ellie back from all the posters had gone missing. I have heard that this can happen if some-one has the dog and doesn't want it picked up on. I know that councils tend to clear posters but is there an area where the posters have gone and keep going? It's not only the elderly that will keep a dog if they find one and not know it is missing, if kids fall in love with a dog they will do all they can to keep it. This is how we got one of our dogs. Our kids did everything they could including saying they had been out asking if some-one had lost it. Fortunately there was no-one looking for her and we had Skippy (another Lurcher) for 15 and a half years. xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Also there is a park warden in Orford Park, you can put a poster up in their ranger station. Have you put any in the Spar shop on Concord ave, off Poplars and the chippy near st Stephans church. Also have you tried any of the church notice boards. I know the council will take down any posters placed in the bus shelters.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I have asked my husband to put a poster up at the bus depot incase any of the bus drivers have seen him. If you havent done so have you put a poster on your front door for any passersby to see. Have you postered at the library in Orford, and around the Greenwood estate. Also give a poster to any of the drivers from Golden Gate Housing that you may see about Orford, ask them to put one in their office for any of the other drivers in the area. If you havent done so, fax a copy of the poster to the dog warden Jill on 442564, also give in a poster to the police. Put up posters next to cash machines. Local pubs (in the ladies/gents loos) Poster as far as Callands. Good luck, dont give up hope.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Yvonne sorry I could not speak properly when you rang as I was in work. Keep up with the postering and checking of rescues etc. If possible maybe helpful if you teamed up with the owners of Jess (Crossbreed) WA5 and help poster etc for each other you will each be able to cover a wider area. Have sent you the smaller posters for Jerry. Jan xxx Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Elliedog thanks for your advice, I deliver the Merseymart which a free local paper and you are right a lot of people do not buy a newspaper and only get the free paper which they look forward to for local news. Jan xxxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I'm sure once the newspaper is on board and you have done the leaflets you will here something. It's amazing how mean people - especially the elderly, won't have a paper in the house but as soon as the free one comes they read it from cover to cover. Chin up. x xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi Yvonne, You may have already thought about or done this but I remember once when I was a lot younger a dog going missing and they did all the postering etc. The dog was missing for quite some time. When it was found an elderly person had taken pity on it because of it's age and it had problems like Jerry. The elderly person had not noticed the posters so didn't realise the dog was missing or where it had come from. It was just by chance that someone else saw it when they went to their house. I didn't know the area Jerry went missing from but I Google Earthed you yesterday. You have a lot of houses as well as the open feilds round you. If you haven't (you probably have) do you think leaflet ping letterboxes or contacting the free paper that comes though your door (if you have one) might be an idea? Hi Jerry. Keep your chin up. Our dog Ellie went missing while we were on holiday on the 2nd August 07, 3 days before Jerry. It was horrible having to come home. We went back up last Sunday and hit the area with posters and the newspaper got involved. Guess who is sleeping in her bed today? :-)Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Yasa
As soon as Admin receives a photograph, the poster will be emailed out to helpers. Posters need to be displayed as soon as possible on notice boards, lamp posts, entrances to parks, dog bins and on cars. Take posters to vets, pet shops, postmen (for sorting offices), milkmen, dustmen, street cleaners, taxi drivers, schools, pubs, youth clubs, newsagents, post offices, takeaways, dog training clubs, supermarkets and car parks. Hand out reduced-down posters or cards to people - especially dog walkers - and deliver to houses and businesses. Police stations, Dog Wardens, the RSPCA and all rescue centres need checking frequently and preferably visited in person by owner or someone who knows Jerry well. Stay safe Jerry, until we find you x Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
