- Sadly, Duchess is still missing.
We had been given some good information on strong possible sightings in the Spital area of Newbiggin where 3 different people claim they have seen Duchess in the last 4 days.
I went to the area last night and sat quietly trying to coax her out of hiding for several hours but had no luck. We feel that Duchess may be frightened by lots of people so tried this method of just me sitting and calling her as I am her most trusted adult.
Please remember to report sightings if there are any as we have nothing else to go on and are totally dejected and heartbroken. We have a couple of humane traps available now but still can't place them anywhere without further sightings. I think she would have come out eventually last night if she was around or if not able to get to me would have barked at me or the other Chihuahua I took along with me with whom Duchess is very close.
Where are you Duchess?

- I completely agree and am glad to read this more moderate post.
I just wish to reiterate that you are correct and would also like to remind people of the appropriate legal procedure of reporting any sightings or information
on the whereabouts of Duchess to the dog warden on 0345 6006400, failure to do so could well result in prosecution.
I echo your hopes that Duchess is safe and warm somewhere but again, it is not fair at all on people who are out there searching if she is in someone's
home and the authorities have not been informed.
Please all be assured that every effort is being made to locate Duchess, both visibly but also behind the scenes, and it would be more helpful if reported
sightings are shared through the correct channels and not kept clandestine.
Mishaps can happen to anybody and the people in charge of Duchess' care are not at blame for what has gone on, however they were less than truthful about
the security arrangements in place and also about the manner and time of her escape. This is more difficult to understand or forgive. An accident is just
that, but dishonesty is another matter. - 2016-09-15 16:22 Daphnesmam
- I wholeheartedly agree finding Duchess is paramount & I apologise to anyone who's been put off from searching for her. I would encourage anyone & everyone to please keep searching for her. I hope she safe & warm wherever she might be & I'd like to take this opportunity to remind people it's a legal requirement to report her to the relevant authorities if you do find her. The fact that Duchess ran away doesn't make the the family who fostered her unsuitable or at fault it simply makes them human, just like every other family desperately trying to find a pet that's escaped their care & using this site..
I'm also aware Duchess didn't have any puppies & that this isn't the platform to prick a conscience or reset anyone's moral compass. - 2016-09-14 22:36 letmetellya
- There have been no positive sightings reported to us or the county dog warden for days now, which is very disheartening.
I must thank the people who are still searching tirelessly for Duchess and sincerely hope it is not in vain.
It is extremely frustrating to read some comments taking the focus away from actually finding Duchess and getting her home safe. Her background is not relevant to the search and the comments on this page are very inaccurate and indeed libellous.
to call her a money making commodity is an absolute joke. her owners were lied to, simple as that and now the worst nightmare has come true and Duchess has escaped from that supposedly good and secure home. The dishonesty about the home and the circumstances and timing of her escape really adds insult to injury.
I would advise we stick to the point, finding Duchess and stop making comments that are helping nobody.

- I'd like to thank everyone who took the time to turn up yesterday & help in the search for this poor little lost dog, unfortunately we didn't find her...which is really sad. It's heartbreaking the "owner" & her fellow puppy breeding friends hadn't used the last 3 days to stockpile posters we would have been more than happy to put them out for you. It's sad to have learnt this poor little girl is a money making commodity & once she could no longer produce puppies she was given away, gifted or fostered (call it what you will) to someone who only asked her 'be my pet'. I'm not sure why the owner has took the Facebook post has been down ! surely we need all the help we can get..?

- She's been sighted in nursery park twice by two separate people yesterday. I'm going to drop some flyers through letterboxes on that estate.
