This breaks my heart all over again, how can people be so cruel to something so beautiful just beats me. I am lost for words, and deeply sad for Hooch's owners, my heart goes out to them. xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

How awful for the owners to know he suffered so badly with no happy outcome. I take it he couldn't be saved or rehabilitated? Rest easy at the bridge sweetheart and we can all only hope that those responsible get it back in spadefulls Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

This is so sad, terrible. I own this breed and they truly are gentle giants. He must have been terrified of humans to turn nasty like that, I despair and am sometimes ashamed to be part of a race that calls itself human. Rest in peace big boy, have fun now xx

I am so sorry that Hooch's owner had to tell me the whole sorry story, upsetting her in the process. I feel really bad about it. At least Hooch is at peace and there is now closure. So sad that it is not the happy ending we would have all liked for big gorgeous Hooch.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Contacted the owner of Hooch today while updating the dog's pages and found out that Hooch was found down south in Sheffield in a terrible state a few months ago. He was left outside the dog pound and rescued by Jacquie Nelson from Rain Rescue, a rescue which I support. Hooch had been left there in a cage in the open beside the pound. He was in an awful state with ulcers all over his feet and his body, which was skin and bone, was covered in mange. He was still wearing the same collar but had a big mark on his neck, from a rope or something similar from which he had been tied up.He had always been a great gentle giant, but had now turned nasty, whereas before was just a family pet loved by all. He had obviously been very badly treated for him to turn into a frightened dog, showing his teeth at his owner, who loved him very much. Someone had given him a hard time obviously. Hope the same horrendous cruelty happens to the person who took him - locked up somewhere, starved, and beaten. Poor boy, rest in peace now. God bless you. Happy days at Rainbow Bridge. You certainly deserve them after all you have been through. xxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Thanks ANWI spoken to owner for an update. Hooch is still missing. He has a white chest so the dog you seen cannot be him. They have had no sightings of Hooch and there has been adverts in the papers and they have been postering the area. Jan xxx Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Are Dogue de Bordeaux common in Scotland as one appeared at my local vet (Perth) but didnt have white chest. But he too had a dermatitis problem. If you want further info for any reason let me know.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Spoken to owner checked they are doing the right things, gave further advice. There has been no sightings of Hooch. He does have dermatitis and owner has contacted vets. Stressed the importance of visiting kennels at least once a week and not rely on telephone calls alone. Sending a picture a.s.a.p. to admin. Jan xxx Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

As soon as Admin receives a photograph, the poster will be emailed out to helpers. Posters need to be displayed as soon as possible on notice boards, lamp posts, entrances to parks, dog bins and on cars. Take posters to vets, pet shops, postmen (for sorting offices), milkmen, dustmen, street cleaners, taxi drivers, schools, pubs, youth clubs, newsagents, post offices, takeaways, dog training clubs, supermarkets and car parks. Hand out reduced-down posters or cards to people - especially dog walkers - and deliver to houses and businesses. Police stations, Dog Wardens, the RSPCA and all rescue centres need checking frequently and preferably visited in person by owner or someone who knows Hooch well. Stay safe Hooch until you are found x Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
