- A huge thank you to the super women Clarkey and Jenny for they hard work and resolve in finding Libby, another day or so and my parents may have not been so lucky to have her with them. Huge thanks for all the DogLost family who helped my parents be reunited with Libby. A great website and service, well done to the owners for creating such a great site community, which is a great success. Once Libby is rested, she can get on from being a scared rescue dog to knowing she has a great and safe future ahead.

- Awww, thanks Genie! Good to hear she has her tracker collar on now. The reunited photos are on here now. (Please refresh page to see them) Top one is self explanatory and such a lovely photo! The bottom one is of a very muddy Libby when she was first found.
It was a long, hard week and there were times when Libby's owners had given up. With lots of support from so many people I think they realised that we were not going to give up so managed to keep going. I'm just very, very relieved it was a happy ending.
PS Think we will all have a good sleep tonight! Last edited: 2016-10-01 21:31:10 by Clarkey - Area Co-ordinator, East Sussex - 2016-10-01 20:57 Elaine Tinker and Hemps mum

- Feeling sooo tired but had to get on and thank everyone for your tireless dedication in finding Libby tel1 and I couldn't have done it without the help of all of you. Special thanks must go to Clarkey (wish I could keep up with her). Super woman Jennie and wonder dog Tiga TK, miles you must of clocked up, lbh, Georgia and the dozens of other unsung Heros Libby is already wearing a pet track gps system and has new non extendable lead. Gambit our son also played a Heros part cutting the offending lead wrapped round her throat and carrying Libby from the woods back to the car . I feel there is now a very strong bond between him and our girl and he will be making sure she has the best life this little miracle deserves. I cannot thank everyone enough What a Week oh and a special thank you to Mr Megan Clarkey you can have you wonderful wife back.

- Thanks Jayne & everyone! Was so lovely to call & ask for this page to go into the blue! I'm truly delighted Libby was found this afternoon. As you know, tel1uk & I went out again at 11.30pm last night going on a very hard search in total darkness, looking under the bushes & brambles whilst clinging to fences so we did not slip down into the stream! We had to give up after no sign or sound of Libby and only got home at 2.30am.
Then had a call fm tel1uk saying he'd heard her barking again this morning. Rushed over & had a really good look around but still couldn't find her.
Managed to get in touch with owner of the other property (thanks to Cathy!) who gave us permission to search in her woods as well, thanks so much for that! We were joined by Jenny who came down without her lad this time & we searched amidst brambles, bogs etc in the woodland. We were joined by Gambit (tel1uk's son) who had come down fm London. Had a quick break, then out to search again, this time with some lovely neighbours (who had also heard Libby barking) on the other side of the moat which was very steep, muddy and slippery fm all the rain. Tel1uk & I went to look at bottom of the garden/woods where Libby had bn heard & the others went in to the woods from a different direction. We all joined up but still no sight of Libby. The others decided to go up the bank & further on whilst I was going to search the gardens again. Wasn't long after that I got an excited phone call saying they had found her!
She was caught up in brambles by her collar & lead & it must have taken all she had to bark, bless her. Think it took quite an effort to get her out but will leave them to tell you about that. Libby was very near to where we had searched before & if she had not made that feeble bark she probably would not have been found today. All I can say is thank goodness she made it back to her home area & this did not happen in the depths of Beauport or some other woods..she's a clever girlie!
I'm literally asleep on my feet (as are her owners) after a very, very long week of searching and postering.
Libby was exhausted, thin & had tics all over her but the vet said she was ok to go home to have lots of small meals & drinks. I sure she will be getting loads & loads of tlc now she is home safely.
Can't thank everyone enough for all your continued help & support in the last 7 days. One last request is to PLEASE ask you all be kind enough to take down any & all posters you see! It's the very best job to do!! Thank you.
So many people searched & helped this week. Thanks to each & every one of you.
I'm sure tel1uk & Genie Brown will update when they have caught their breath and given Libby lots of hugs. - 2016-10-01 18:19 angi

- Just got home from a very wet challenging search for Libby. Had a gut feeling she will have made her way back towards home across the woods from where we left off tracking with Tiga. When I heard about barking in the area for two nights and this morning , I had to go back down and help Team Libby in the search. Leaving Tiga at home and donned with old gear we skipped too and from across the moat and back through the farm. A team break for coffee and back out again dragging along a couple who also had heard the barking. They confirmed the general direction which tied in with where the owner had heard it both last night and this morning and so I was determined to find her and struck lucky. After hearing a 'strangled bark' I legged it up the bank in the direction and there she was. After determining that she could not run off I called back to the owners - who in turn scrambled up to help untangle Libby with lead still attached. We fought our way through the hedge and Libby was carried in turn back to safety and off to the vet where she had a number of ticks removed.
Well done Team Libby - we have made the owners very happy! - 2016-10-01 17:17 Sharon - Social Media Volunteer

- Late night call from tel1uk saying he had heard barking from the woods off Moat Lane when he was walking Hugo. It continued for some time but unfortunately it came from woodland that's on private property and it was too dark to see anything.
I went out to meet him and we went as far as we could looking with torches and listening but we didn't hear any more possibly because she exhausted herself earlier. If this is Libby (and I think it is) then she is still in the area moving around. At least this means that she is in the right area and is able to bark although obviously she will be very tired and hungry after being lost for a week. We will do all we can to talk to householders tomorrow to gain access to search. - 2016-09-30 23:12 Clarkey - Area Co-ordinator, East Sussex
- Thanks Ali, as you know, everything helps. Well done TK, those places really needed more posters. Thanks to Georgiaa-s for searching today, good to see you again & a worthwhile walk. tel1uk & I visited couple of houses to let them know of Libby & got permission to go on some more private land.
Thanks also to Elaine who has done an overgrowth footpath in Beauport Pk (by Golf Course) & continues to help/poster.
>>>> Places to search as before please:
*** Fields & woods between Queensway/Ridge West/Battle Rd/Hollington stream/Sedlescombe Rd Nth.
*** Left of Battle Rd: Any of the woods & fields behind houses/High Beech Club & between Breadsell Lane & Battle Rd please (Coneyburrow/Birchen/4 Acres/Marline)
*** Fields off top of Harrow Lane.
*** Beauport Pk/woods/Roman iron works etc
*** Moat Lane/Westfield area: Whitelands woods & any others between M Lane & Westfield Lane and if anyone is able to get permission fm *** Woodgates Pk and *** Woodlands Pk to check under caravans & lodges there it would be appreciated. I politely ask that no-one goes on an private ground without permission. Thank you.
>>>> POSTERS: If anyone is able to put posters up in Baldslow Down it wld be very helpful & if poss along Westfield Lane please. Also anywhere else there aren't any!If anyone has any other suggestions please let me know!
Forecast is very wet tomorrow so Libby's likely to hole up. Best time to search will be as soon as rain stops as she will start moving around then.
I'll be out to see tel1uk & Genie and then postering.
Can't thank everybody enough for all the help we are getting. Shame we are still waiting for that all important sighting but we will not give up.Last edited: 2016-09-30 23:27:17 by Clarkey - Area Co-ordinator, East Sussex - 2016-09-30 21:01 TK - Area Volunteer, East Sussex

- Been following Libby's blog and can't believe there's been no sightings.....driven round the area several times but nothing to report I'm afraid. Not been able to join you on foot unfortunately and am now working 3 long days saturday, Sunday and Monday (recently changed jobs) will check dog lost when home and really hope for good news very soon.....concerned for this lovely girl x

- Thank you so much for alerting grape pockets LBH I am so grateful getting barbeque going later try and tempt her out of hiding

- lbh: That's great, very kind of you & really good to hear the pickers are aware of Libby now. Such a lovely morning for a walk so I hope you enjoyed it! Thanks.
I did not see or hear anything this morning but it does not mean she is not around there.
Had chat with Genie Brown & heard Gambit is coming over later with his dog to help search. Also explained the importance of a bbq to try & attract Libby back home & suggested a disposable one be set up in garden for as long as poss. Nice yummy smells of sausages, bacon etc.
Family are not posting a lot of what they are doing but just to let you know that they are out searching until very late at night, usually taking Hugo with them so there's a good scent trail back to their home as well as postering despite unavoidable work commitments.
I'm waiting for a delivery & will go out to Moat Lane again when I can.
Time for you to get yourself home Libby, let today be the day please. - 2016-09-30 08:59 lbh
- I walked from Wheel Lane across vineyard, through field to Hoads Farm, Moat Lane, Parsonage Lane and back into vineyard this morning. No sighting :( but I did meet a group of grape pickers who I have alerted about Libby and they will keep an eye out.

- Thanks again TK.
Genie Brown: That sounds really interesting. The owner of Irelands Farm said that a dog was heard barking from direction of Moat Lane in the early hours as well. Owner will call me (even if very late/early) if barking is heard again.
Hugo may well be trying to let you know that Libby is close.
Please try getting a bbq going as Libby will be hungry by now and may be attracted back by some scrummy smells.
Oh, I really hope Libby is nearby! It would be amazing after no sightings or news of her.
COME ON LIBBY! You can do it, you can find your way home girlie. - 2016-09-29 22:19 TK - Area Volunteer, East Sussex
- Drove over to Battle this eve and back
Oh Genie Brown, that does sound positive, everything crossed that she may be finding her way back and be close by, have you still got the clothing hanging up and can she get back into garden /house if she was to find her way back .. x - 2016-09-29 20:14 Genie Brown
- I put out some more posters today will get more made up with string so can fasten to trees. I heard dog barking about 11.30 last night for short time towards A21 . Went out tonight as far as Sedlescombe and went up cottage lane and all other lanes leading to Moat Lane Think Libby might be close because 2 times today Hugo who usually only barks at strangers sat in garden and barked for nearly 10 minutes at nothing. Played with him noisily hoping she might hear us and come home. Thank you every one for your help I am trying hard to be positive for my little girl
- 2016-09-29 18:42 Clarkey - Area Co-ordinator, East Sussex
- Thanks janine, I agree and am very worried about that.
Or, as she was shut up in a barn most of her young life, she would probably hide in or under any outbuildings/garages/sheds/caravans or in undergrowth etc. She'd be hard to spot if doing this.
It's also possible she could have been shut in somewhere and that she is not barking as so scared.
Alternatively someone may have managed to catch her and not reported finding her but sooner or later a neighbour or someone would, I hope, see her in a garden. She has a collar with a tag and owners details on so absolutely no excuse not to call them. If anyone notices someone with a newly aquired dog likely Libby then we need to know please!
Hence the need for loads and loads of posters everywhere which tel1uk, Gennie Brown and helpers are getting up. Just need them all over in prominent places.
Over 8200 views of this page now! So many thanks again to all of you for helping and supporting her worried family during this difficult time. We will not be giving up .. the search goes on. - 2016-09-29 17:21 janine
- I will head out over the weekend on dog walks, any areas that you need covered? From the experience with a list dog with no sightings she must be trapped in or caught up somewhere.
- 2016-09-29 16:37 Clarkey - Area Co-ordinator, East Sussex
- Thanks Corinne & TK. We went out to do a few posters but bit short of time today.
Went to the Esso garage Georgiaa-s and, although the young lad behind the counter was happy to put one up, the Manager flatly refused. Said it was not policy to put posters up in their windows. Told him that they were the only people in area that had refused & left! Really good PR for Esso .. not!
Made a visit to Ireland's Farm & met owner who was very kind and took poster, said they would look out/listen for Libby.
Did mentioned that a dog was heard barking in the early hours last night from the direction of Moat Lane. Might have been Libby but could also have been any other dog.
>>> tel1uk Has anyone else said anything about barking near to you?
Then went along Moat Lane & put a couple more posters up.
Went into Glebe Farm & met owner who was very concerned, had a quick look in his outbuildings & he said he'd have a good look around his property for Libby. I'm rather surprised that he did not already know about her being missing so ...
>>> tel1uk: You definitely need more large laminated ones up on the telegraph poles along Moat Lane & also Parsonage & Wheel Lane etc. It's important to knock on doors & talk to the householders further up the lane please as some are not aware of Libby yet.
Have you left posters in the local vets: Coopers, 1066, Chase, South Coast, Bedgers Oak and Claremont in Bexhill? Always best to take posters in some clients can read them whilst waiting to be seen.
Took my own dog out to Senlac vets in Battle (who have shared on Fbk) and put a poster up on the board there.
Still not had that vital sighting yet, which is worrying. Libby must either be wandering deep in the woods somewhere, shut in an outbuilding (or even just hiding in a corner of one), hidden under a caravan/shed/outbuilding or tangled up by her lead. Would appreciate if people would keep searching as someone must see her sooner or later.
If anyone has any other ideas where to search etc then please let us know.
It's unusual not to have any sightings at all over this length of time so it's possible that we are not getting sightings because there are not enough large posters up in clear view all over the area.
It's great to have them in farm shops, at the caravan site, on the estates but I think we need more please. There can never be enough posters and it will be that one important poster that someone sees that will bring news of Libby. So PLEASE, please let's get some more up.
Please keep sharing, Tweeting, looking and listening for Libby. Last edited: 2016-09-29 16:42:09 by Clarkey - Area Co-ordinator, East Sussex - 2016-09-29 14:53 TK - Area Volunteer, East Sussex
- Kept a look out on way up Battle Rd at 7.45 and again at 815 and 9.00 and just leaving to go back over to Battle.
Had a drive out with Clarkey at Lunchtime, will let her update..
Have given a poster to my dad who is working up at High Beech Chalet Park, he is going to ask to put it up at the club house..
I will try to get some posters up along Battle Rd, as although there are some posters up, I think we need to cover the whole area, anyone that can help put posters up would be fantastic x - 2016-09-29 09:23 Corinne
- Yesterday I searched with my dogs through the woods between Sedlescombe Rd North and Battle Rd,and up in the fields behind Sainsburys etc, and over to Queensway. No sign of her sadly.

have been out around woods back of moat lane I am going out again 11pm to do rounds in car mc Donald's west ridge and battle road thanks to you and all from myself and libby for your continued support - 2016-09-28 21:21 TK - Area Volunteer, East Sussex

Sorry I haven't been around today to help as worked 10hrs.
Did drive up Battle Rd at 8 this morning and along Ridge West & down A21 thro Sedlescombe.
This eve came back down A21 to Johns Cross, thro Battle & down Battle Rd..
Tel1uk can you please confurm what colour the extendable lead was, was it a black one like you had with you the other day? As someone has posted on fb they saw a broken Red ext. Lead at Westfield entrance to HelensWood Woods.. - 2016-09-28 21:15 Nina
- Don't forget to carry and use a squeaky toy
- 2016-09-28 21:08 Georgiaa-s
- The ESSO garage opposite pets @ home are happy to put a poster up- but when I popped in on my way back from crowhurst I was fresh out- will pop one in tomorrow unless someone drops one in before I get there.
All farmers are aware in crowhurst and keeping an eye out. I've taken my dogs out around moat lane today, & my mum has done a massive walk through the footpaths adjoining the new link road, from crowhurst up to Hastings road, into the woods that lead onto the golf course, down battle road, up onto castleham, across Queensway, through there & back down into crowhurst. She goes out multiple times a day so is taking a slip lead & has asked everyone she works with to do the same. In an ideal situation if she's in Beauport area she will hopefully make her way back to moat lane off road. Being so timid, if someone's picked her up she's not really certifiable as a working dog- so hopefully that will work in her favour, although makes it very hard for us to find her!! Such a vast area this girl is hiding in. Come on Libby!! Show yourself now before the weather turns β€οΈ

- Thanks Gambit. This afternoon I went up to Beauport Pk riding school & they have kindly agreed to put a large poster in their tack room so their riders will keep a look out for Libby when they are out in the woods/park. I also had permission to put some small posters on the table at the entrance of the hotel so guests will see them. I gave posters to some dog walkers who were on their way to Queensway fields (they didn't know about Libby) & gave some to the crew of a refuse collection truck that was in the area. I asked them to put the large poster into their depot so all are aware so hopefully they will. I did the same when I saw my local postman so hoping he will oblige.
**** It would be worth going to the main sorting office in Hastings with posters to ensure they are really aware.
**** Someone has suggested that because there hv bn no sightings of Libby that she may have been picked up by someone. Usually when there hv bn no sightings at all of a lost dog I would agree & assume that they've either been picked up or have bn shut in a garage, shed or even a house by mistake & not bn found. (The last time this happened in Hastings the missing dog had been spooked by loud noises fm Alexandra Pk, had run off & there were no sightings for 3 days. It was only when a neighbour came home from a weekend away that the dog was found in their house! She must have run in to it when they were loading their car up!)
As Libby's owners have explained how timid she is, my feeling is that it's not very likely that she would go near enough to anyone to be caught but I suppose if someone had managed to tread on the lead when it was trailing then they may have stopped her.
If someone has found Libby they are not only causing a lot of upset to her owners but they are also breaking the law. It is REQUIRED BY LAW to report finding any dog to our Dog Wardens and/or the Police. Failure to do so is considered to be 'theft by finding' However, I doubt if this has happened but if anyone has Libby (or knows of someone who has recently acquired a dog that looks like her) then please return her to her family (NO QUESTIONS ASKED) asap, take her to a local vet or contact Doglost in TOTAL confidence.
****As far as searching goes please continue to look in all the places already mentioned including Moat Lane area. I found out today that there's a way through Helmsman Rise that leads to woods behind there & Cooden Ledge. There's Birchen/Four Acres/Coneyburrow woods & Marline woods. As most of you know, this area includes High Beech Pk, Crowhurst Pk & fields going out to Breadsell Lane. I mention this because, when Tiga was tracking, he took us down to Helmsman Rise via the footpath on Battle Rd. He was tired by then (so were we!) so we did not pursue the scent. So another area to consider searching I'm afraid. Until we get a sighting it's going to be hard to find Libby but I know we will NOT be giving up. Forecast is wet tomorrow so Libby is likely to hole up whilst it's wet. If she's not caught up by her lead then the rain may be enough to encourage her to make her way home.
Please do not discount the fact that Libby may already be back in her home area. PLEASE let that be so! It would mean she was in a safer area & we would be more likely to find her!
**** Massive thanks to all helping & reading this page. I really appreciate all the help we are getting from everyone. As for you Libby, if you bark loudly enough then someone will hear you. We need to get you home girlie.Last edited: 2016-09-28 19:55:47 by Clarkey - Area Co-ordinator, East Sussex - 2016-09-28 16:53 Gambit

- Have just looked on Animal Wardens website and noted that they have a collie listed as being found Rye has anyone checked to rule this out as being Libby? Their reference is 387783 I only query as they have Libby listed as crossbreed and the found dog is listed as a collie

I am praying Libby comes home safely.
Well done to all of you searching x - 2016-09-28 09:57 Clarkey - Area Co-ordinator, East Sussex
- Lots of people asking where to search so will add another suggestion of places to look for Libby as well as the Queenway/Hollington stream woods/Ridge West areas. I have been looking at the map again of the woods behind Beauport Caravan Pk as it's possible Libby may have got into those (by going through the caravan park, Bannatynes or the track the lorries use) which again cover a huge area. It's basically Beauport Park which has Beauport wood, Red River wood, Monument wood, Baldslow wood & numerous others. There are public footpaths that go into this big area, one starts fm the entrance opp Moat Lane & goes all the way over to Hastings Rd. Looks like the entrance fm Hastings Rd (going towards Battle) is just past Breadsell Lane on the right hand side (opp the mast in Crowhurst Park & before Wilmoths) The track passes the Roman Bath House/Ironworks.
If you look at the 'Find rights of way in East Sussex' map
https://www.eastsussex.gov.uk/leisureandtourism/countryside/rightsofway/map/map.aspx
it clearly shows a lot of tracks that are probably lovely to walk with dogs. If anyone is looking for somewhere different to search then perhaps try these tracks (please take some posters with you to hand to people you see whilst walking) They are all new to me despite having lived here for years!
I will try to go up to the Beauport Riding stables & other places in that area to give posters out to them although I think most are already aware of Libby.
Also should mention that if Libby is caught up by her lead she may or may not bark. I hope that she would, so if anyone hears someone saying they can hear a dog barking then please let us know.
Thanks again to all of you. We have a great team here so let's hope we can find this girlie and soon.

- Good morning. Thanks TK, Ebruf & ClaireC. Thanks also to all others still searching & supporting Libby's owners.
I've just got home from an early hours search despite knowing Libby does not like bright lights but thought I might have caught a glimpse of her on verges or somewhere before she hid. Did roughly the same places as TK did yesterday but came back along Queensway & through Castleham Ind Estate.
I gave out posters to lots of early morning dog walkers, some runners & also put couple of posters on signs outside R West Ind Pk. Unfortunately no sign of Libby yet although I still think she is most likely to be moving around at dusk or dawn when it is quiet.
POSTERS: Best places to put them are in places where lots of people will see them like farm shops, pet stores, outside schools, supermarkets, bus stops, sports grounds, taxi offices, post offices, entrances to footpaths, car parks, libraries, doctors surgeries & mobile food wagons etc.
You can also reduce poster size to A5 (saves ink/paper) so they can be given to people you meet whilst searching who will hopefully put them in their pockets & will call if they should see Libby at any time.
Genie Brown & tel1uk: It would also be a good idea to put an advert in FridayAd if poss as that's free & a lot of people will see it. Also they deliver piles of them to garages who often are not willing/allowed to put up posters on their forecourts.
I'm really hoping today is the day we get a sighting of Libby. Fingers crossed for some news of her. - 2016-09-27 22:17 ClaireC

- Thanks everyone for searching and for the updates & info of where postered. Great to see so many people are reading the page and hopefully sharing and Tweeting too.
I put a post on to Streetlife today so we may get some info from that website as well. Let's hope so.
Very, very grateful to everyone supporting us with the search for Libby. She surely has to show us where she is soon.
Genie and tel1uk: Just stay strong and do not give up. We will find Libby one way or another and the hungrier she gets the more likely it is that she will show herself.
Remember you have a lot of lovely people out there supporting you as you can see from the number of views of this page.
Please make sure that you have emailed local vets with Libby's details & photo. I really can't stress how important it is to get as many POSTERS up as possible ... anywhere and everywhere that lots of people can see them. Then we should get a sighting or 2 come in.
Got everything crossed for some good news on Libby soon. - 2016-09-27 17:50 Genie Brown
- Have put poster on entrance opposite Moat lane A21 a bit hairy but tel ran as fast as he could hitching up his trousers from the weight he lost yesterday. Also put some posters Beauharrow and Castleham industrial Estate. I will go to golf course tomorrow morning been to garden center at Sedlescombe on A21

Drove down A21 & up through Sedlescombe at 7am and back up at 1.30pm
Up Battle Rd at 3pm to Battle & back again about 4ish

- Actually Genie I correct myself - from where we stopped tracking yesterday at the Ridgeway you can go across those woods to Moat Lane as you probably know.
Have posters been put up at the golf course? - 2016-09-27 13:54 Genie Brown
- Have been out to West Ridge and Beaufort Caravan park this morning people so kind lovely response at Beaufort I then went to Blackbrooks who now do not have a notice board for customer use but took a small poster and put it at customer services. Westfield News are displaying prominently for me thank you so much. Will be out again later. Libby is out there somewhere please let us find you
- 2016-09-27 13:45 Jenny & Tiga k9tracker
- Genie - yes I agree, I think the woods by the A21 are not the place for Libby and Tiga only went in through the gate opposite Moat Lane and a short loop around the entrance and then back out before going up the A21.
- 2016-09-27 12:03 Ebruf
- Have been out to Battle Wood this morning and walked the outer paths that back onto the fields and golf course. Also the paths that back onto backs off houses on Battle Road no sign. Have left a poster at car park and spoken to a number of people.

- Want to thank everyone for their help to try and find Libby We are off out again today up to Beaufort park area and west ridge also down the woods at side a21 although I think the Lorries cutting the swath of trees would scare timid Libby too much so a visit after 5pm may be better. Yesterday Megan , Jennie and Tigger as well as tel had an dangerous flight up A21 and across north St Leonards but no sightings com on Libby show yourself we need you home with Hugo. Thank you to anyone who is looking for our sweet little girl you are heroes I am praying she will be home soon
- 2016-09-27 10:09 Jenny & Tiga k9tracker
- Thank you Clarkey - I couldn't have put it better myself.
Libby could be hiding anywhere as we believe she is frightened of bright lights and has an ability to get into thick bramble.
I believe the sprint up the A21 was because the handle of the extending lead was chasing her and clanging behind causing her to just run. The area where we lost the scent was in a clearing where they were logging and so the scent could have been destroyed. - 2016-09-27 10:07 Clarkey - Area Co-ordinator, East Sussex
- Many thanks Riverlady.
If anyone is on Twitter please retweet our tweets so we can get the word out about Libby to as many people as poss. Thanks! (Doglost is @DoglostUK & I'm @mivvidog on Twitter)
Just to add that when Libby was reported lost last week that she actually was not lost! She had hidden herself so well in tel1uk's garden that it took a while to spot her under some undergrowth/brambles. So when searching please have a good look under bushes as she is likely to be very well hidden. Thanks.
Thanks also to the very kind Estate Manager at Claremont who is now aware of Libby being lost fm the area. He has been out on the quad and had a look around for her but no sign and will continue to keep an eye open for her.
Lost half of last post somehow?? Will add it to this as may have been too long!
10:01 post continued:
... chopping down trees to make a track into the woods)
If anyone is happy to help with the search for Libby please check out the fields/woods between Queensway & into Hollington Stream woods. This is a the area going around Sainsburys, McD, Premier Inn, backing up to the West Ridge estate/Queensway & all the way down to 7 Acre Close area. It's quite possible that she is still in there as she would have water, shelter and relative quiet there. We know she is able to hide herself very well so could be in deep undergrowth/under bushes etc. It's a large area to look for a dog but worth trying. (However, searching anywhere would be a help as she may have moved back to the woods behind Moat Lane or somewhere else!)
We desparately need a sighting of Libby. Someone must have seen her on the A21 or running around afterwards. This is where POSTERS are so helpful as this is how people will let us know if they have seen her.
If anyone would help poster it would be great. Even one in your car window or outside your house would help!
If you do poster, please leave a comment on this page so others do not go to the same area. Thank you.
Just a bit more about Libby. She is a young (approx 6-8 months) Retriever x Collie, brought over from Ireland about a month ago. She had been kept shut in a barn with 2 other dogs and was only rehomed about 2 weeks ago. Her name is new to her so she may not respond to it. She's very timid, very scared of bright lights, the tv, loud noises etc. She is very, very good at hiding & may not come out even if close by to you. She took to tel1uk's other dog very quickly so might come to another dog.
So POSTER POWER is what we need please! We know it works and if we get that one vital sighting it will really help.
Thanks so much to all who are helping and supporting Libby's family. It makes all the difference to know that so many people care about Libby.
Come on Libby, please show us where you are so we can get you home safely. Last edited: 2016-09-27 11:14:39 by Clarkey - Area Co-ordinator, East Sussex - 2016-09-27 10:01 Clarkey - Area Co-ordinator, East Sussex
- Apologies for not updating last night but as you will have gathered from tel1uk's post both he & I were shattered! A very long day out tracking for Libby with Jenny & lovely Tiga. Started off in Moat Lane where Tiga took us along to the junction with the A21, across it & up the muddy track opposite where trucks/big vehicles go up into the woods.
Then, to our horror, a sharp right hand turn on to the A21 where Tiga took a really strong hold up the A21 (right hand side) It was really scary with all the fast traffic but there was no stopping him so it must have been a strong, fresh scent. We can only think that as Libby was about to cross back to Moat Lane that the lead bounced on the tarmac caused her to panic & go up the main road. Got half way up to Hastings when Tiga (and us) crossed over to the left side & continued up A21 all the way to the junction with Westfield Lane. Tel1uk & I were, I admit, lagging behind Jenny & Tiga as it's quite steep up there! How Libby managed to avoid all the traffic we will never know, but we have to assume (& hope) that she ran up there at night or in the early hours.
From W Lane/A21 junction there was a bit of dithering around up Maplehurst Rd, top of Harrow Lane, the 2 fields at the top nr the shop. Also down a narrow track going down to Petsathome. Tiga wanted to go back under the bridge on A21 but I wasn't too happy about that!!
Went back to W Lane junction to pick up scent again & Tiga took us fm there on to A21 again, under the bridge (mostly nice drivers, thankfully) & right into Whitworth Rd & down to the track in the woods (opposite Ramblers) that took us between Queensway & behind Sainsbury's along to back off McD's. Tiga took a left off track & alongside McD's & briefly into their car park. A quick stop for chips & some 'Tiga admiration' fm Alan, the dining Manager there who let us put a couple of posters inside.
Over to Toyota/St Leonards Motors showroom area & on to steep narrow track to go down alongside & into the Hollington Stream woods. Went quite a long way down there, turned right over the bridge (nr 7 Acre Close) & back up track leading to an area where building/tree clearing was going on. Thanks to the kind digger driver there who took a poster & let us on the area. This was at edge of woods & off/behind Beauharrow Road where they are building new houses.
Unfortunately the scent was lost here so we are not entirely sure where Libby went next. We did go up Beauharrow & onto Battle Rd up to the Ridge junction but not sure if that was following Libby's scent or not. However, we felt she was likely to go back into the woods and hopefully back the way she came trying to make her way back to Moat Lane.
Soooo, we are hoping that Libby is the rest of the loop & is making her way home.
We really need lots and lots MORE POSTERS please!
If we can get posters up in West Ridge ind estate, Hollington area (particularly around the woods), around Sainsburys/McD complex area, Beauharrow/Battle Rd/the Ridge etc it would be a great help.
It's important NOT to assume that Libby is still in town as she seemed to be doing a loop & may have already made her way back to Moat Lane. Although I hope & pray she would not go on to the A21 again.
A possibilty is her getting into the large woods behind Bannatynes, Beauport caravan park which would take her back to the woods & the track opposite Moat Lane again.
There is a road/track somewhere off the Ridge West (where they have been choppiLast edited: 2016-09-27 19:37:54 by Clarkey - Area Co-ordinator, East Sussex - 2016-09-27 09:26 Riverlady

- I did the footpath that comes out at woodlands caravan park yesterday at dusk (couldn't stay out as long as I wanted as the rabbits started appearing and Bentley went into hunt mode) and will go out later on if the swelling on my knee goes down. It's very open from the back of mine (Westfield lane) to moat lane until you get to whitelands woods. Sheep everywhere. Libby you need to show yourself so we have an idea of what area to cover! Fingers crossed she's close by & laying low!!

- Thanks TK and all who are helping find Libby. I went out to meet Libby's owners this morning and to see where she went missing from. te1uk had been searching through most of the night but no sign of her. TK, her young daughter, the lovely Elaine and myself as well as tel1uk all searched their large garden, through the bushes/undergrowth and also the huge garden next door (thanks to them for allowing us to do this) We then split up and looked in several other places whilst giving posters to local householders and passers by. There are literally acres and acres of fields, woods, gardens etc where Libby could be lying low.
Our feeling is that she is probably close to home as no one has reported seeing her yet. It's possible that she has got caught up by her lead but she could also just be so scared that she is hiding under bushes or in someones garden /garage /sheds etc so if you live in the area please would you check these places just in case. If she is caught up in bushes then she may be able to chew through her lead, release herself and make her own way home which would be a great relief to us all.
The Dog Wardens are aware of Libby being lost and the local vets too. We have given out and put up as many posters as possible but still need more up please as there can never be enough.
I have spoken to Whitelands kennels owner and they will be walking their dogs in Whitelands woods in case they spot or hear her there (many thanks K) and Spar in Westfield have kindly put a poster up in their window. TK took a poster into Claremont school. Freshfields farm shop was closed but I left a poster on the gate and will ask them to put one up in the shop if Libby is not home tomorrow.
Not sure exactly where tel1uk has put posters but I hope that he will comment on here to let us know which roads, farms etc he has covered. Owners have been doing a great job and I have suggested postering is the way to go as well as continuing searching. Thanks again to everyone who has been looking out for Libby whilst out walking today.
We just need sightings now to let us know where Libby has gone to. Fingers crossed we get one very soon or that she makes her way home tonight or in the early hours. - 2016-09-25 18:40 Sharon - Social Media Volunteer

- Thank You Jayne,
Just looking at Google map, If Libby ran accross the road and down through the piece of land that has recently been cleared with the old bungalow on it. There is a stream at the bottom, and if she was to cross the stream, presumingly she wouldnt head towards the A21 because of the noise of the traffic, so if she headed Right, she would come out at IREELANDS Farm. I wonder if she may be hiding around there somewhere, lots of outbuildings looking at google map.. - 2016-09-25 13:15 Jayne - Founder Doglost.

Please could email alerts be sent out to TN37,TN38 & TN34 postcodes, Thank you..
I'm in TN37 not far from where Libby has gone missing from, Had a message from Clarkey this morning to say Libby was missing, so agreed to meet Clarkey at Libbys home where she went missing from yesterday afternoon at 5.30pm.
will let Clarkey write full update, but sadly after having a good look around Libby is still missing.
I dropped a laminated poster into Claremont school on way home. Will have a drive around the area a bit later this afternoon. Have everything crossed she will soon be found safe and well x - 2016-09-25 08:09 Clarkey - Area Co-ordinator, East Sussex
- I've just spoken to Libby's owners (one of whom is disabled) and she is still missing this morning. tel1uk has been out looking for her most of the night but no luck yet.
Libby has still got her extendable lead attached to her collar and she got caught up with it in bushes last time so I'm hoping she will be found quickly.
I will be on my way to help search as soon as I have had breakfast. If anyone else is able to help search it would be appreciated. Last edited: 2016-09-25 09:01:45 by Clarkey - Area Co-ordinator, East Sussex - 2016-09-25 02:01 Clarkey - Area Co-ordinator, East Sussex
- I'm sorry to see that Libby has gone missing again. I have sent out our Doglost advice email out to you and will call you in the morning to see if you have found her.
onestopalldogs & Hollieberry: I think probably just one dog and yes, unfortunately this is the 2nd time Libby has gone missing. She is a rescue dog and is obviously an escape artist. Rather worrying that she still has her lead on. I will confirm with tel1uk tomorrow but am hoping she will be found as quickly as last time. Otherwise I will go and help search for her.
