- lesson to be learned here for all dog owners to make sure chip is up to date PLEASE, AND A COLLAR WITH ID TAG HELPS, but collars can be removed chips normally can not

- He is gorgeous and I hope he is third time lucky. He deserves a loving owner who cares what happens to him. And if I ever left my dog with a friend and that "friend" sold my dog on, there would be murder on the news!!

- 2016-10-15 19:54 Doglover
- Wonderful I hope he is allowed to go home with his owner..xx
- 2016-10-15 19:07 Hollieberry
- Yes I agree not everyone does not do twitter & fb but most dog owners report missing dogs to local police & dog warden but we must not jump to conclusions without knowing the facts .
- 2016-10-15 19:04 LoopyLurcher
- Some people don't DO facebook & twitter (I don't) but maybe someone who does told owner?
- 2016-10-15 18:56 charlie and sooty
- Seems very strange to me!!
- 2016-10-15 18:42 Hollieberry
- Stanley has been posted all over twitter & various fb sites it would not have taken an owner long to track him down why now I wonder & why was he not reported lost ?
- 2016-10-15 18:32 Jayne - Founder Doglost.
- Stanleys owner has just seen him on doglost!

- Such a shame he hasn't been picked up to go 'home' with his family - I hope his next family LOVE him very much, he deserves so much more! I wish I could home him but I'm full :o)
- 2016-10-13 10:46 Unknown
- Spoke to VJ who used to walk Star as he was called. Obtained details of persons who rehomed him but council have decided not to pursue it so Stanley now has a rescue space and I'm sure it won't be long for this gorgeous boy.
- 2016-10-11 20:08 Viv B
- I hope he gets a wonderful home soon.
- 2016-10-11 17:02 Doglover

- Gillyp this guy has come back to me he is interested in REHOMING him, it was the way he wrote made me think that he was asking me if I would rehome him....
- 2016-10-08 21:17 Doglover
- Just had a message via Facebook asking me if I would be happy to rehome the Bull Mastiff Star...........very strange.....imhave replied asking him if he is the owner or does he know who owner is.......
- 2016-10-07 19:12 Unknown
- All vets checked
- 2016-10-07 16:15 Skywalker99
- jayelle....the people who were selling him could have dumped him, or they could be away and unaware he is missing...
- 2016-10-07 16:11 Viv B
- Gilly P do you know whether all the vets contacted have responded as to whether they know this dog? Hope he gets to go to a lovely home, old owners or new.
- 2016-10-07 16:10 BorderCol
- Someone paid a big sum to have him castrated . If he is the dog that was advertised for £300 then presumably someone has paid that too. All seems very odd.
- 2016-10-07 15:34 Doglover
- So very sad for such a loving, well mannered dog.....I hope he finds a forever and loving home xxxx
- 2016-10-07 13:32 Unknown
- Is it possible that maybe the owner has died, or has gone into a home , and he has been abandoned by someoene?
- 2016-10-07 13:28 Unknown
- He will hopefully get a good rescue space. Poor lad must be confused.
- 2016-10-07 13:04 Baydogs
- If the owners cannot be traced I would imagine people will be queuing around the block for this cracking boy.
I'm puzzled; dogs don't usually become this well mannered without a some human guidance. He is also housetrained and affectionate. Someone has put some effort in along the way. To simply discard afterwards just doesn't seem to follow. - 2016-10-07 12:52 Mallory'smum
- Will this boy be put up for re-homing please? Just want to give him a big cuddle

- Thanks Gilly great update. Hope he has a happy life ahead of him x
- 2016-10-07 12:24 Sandra Watt
- Aw, that's so lovely, I am rooting for Stanley to find new caring owners; I am sure there is somebody out there who will love him.
- 2016-10-07 12:08 Unknown
- Update from my lady....
We still have him I really don't understand why anybody would abandon him he is lovely.
I walk him everyday and he is so well mannered I love him as do all the kennel staff.
He is so nice natured and soppy he was scared of a bone today !!!!!
I DON'T UNDERSTAND PEOPLE if you don't want him don't throw him away someone would of given him a home.
He is doing well and enjoying the cuddles and lots of attention.
- 2016-10-07 10:10 Juls

- I have passed laura your message Viv
- 2016-10-05 15:10 Viv B
- Guess the chip no. is confidential, so will admin or you Gilly P give this to these vets. Companion Care tel. 01256 845834; Brunswick Place 01256 473371 + email brunswickplacevets@gmail.com; Barn Animal Hosp. Vet tel : 01256 329522 + email reception@barn.vets.co.uk. (Haven't contacted Barn yet, prob. best to let them have chip no. at same time). There to be other vets in the area too.
- 2016-10-05 15:07 Jot cotswolds
- I would hope the first owner is not contacted to foster him as they didn't even know who they sold him to in the first place...he ended up a huge dog living in a cramped flat. Dire life this lad has had.
- 2016-10-05 15:05 Unknown
- Laura from three council is contacting Brunswick. Thanks Viv
- 2016-10-05 14:57 Unknown
- Have asked council contact for chip.no. Gumtree e mail no longer valid
- 2016-10-05 14:48 Viv B
- Brunswick Place vets have asked for his chip number, then they can check for us. Who might be able to get this?
- 2016-10-05 14:44 Nicky - Area Co-ordinator London, Home Counties & Police Liaison
- Apparently ' He is gentle ,lovely natured, clean, not destructive or loud.very obedient not bothered by other dogs' So sad - poor boy. Really hope he finds a loving forever home x

Would previous owner take him back and rehome him responsibly?Last edited: 2016-10-05 14:41:12 by Skywalker99 - 2016-10-05 14:35 Baydogs
- He is a gorgeous dog. Someone is surely missing him.
- 2016-10-05 14:33 Unknown
- Who knows. Need to flood Basingstoke with him
- 2016-10-05 14:32 Baydogs
- Could he have been stolen from Owner Number Two?
- 2016-10-05 14:30 Viv B
- Found email address for Brunswick Place, emailed and waiting for their response, have also given my phone no.
- 2016-10-05 14:29 Unknown
- Previous owner who he is chipped to didn't know who they gave him too.
- 2016-10-05 14:26 Baydogs
- Anyone else find it odd that the ad portrays a dog someone reluctantly has to rehome on an unmade bed in what appears to be a spare room? And he doesn't look "at home" to me.
But it wouldn't be odd if he was stolen from the previous owner and this is where he was kept out of public view.
Crazy thoughts on my behalf? - 2016-10-05 14:16 Unknown
- Oh yay. So ad was him. I have taken the ad number and am looking for an e mail for gumtree in case they can contact seller. Not having much luck.
- 2016-10-05 14:12 Nicky - Area Co-ordinator London, Home Counties & Police Liaison
- Gilly's contact has confirmed he definitely answers to Stanley
- 2016-10-05 14:09 Viv B
- Just spoken with Companion Vets, Basingstoke, they checked their records couldn't find any likely dog. They suggested Brunswick Place Vet or The Barn. Have to go out soon but will see if I can speak to them before.
- 2016-10-05 13:44 Unknown
- Spoken with my Council contact and she has asked the kennels girls to call him Stanley and see if he reacts. She did say he doesn't respond to Star. Someone must know him. Could anyone please call the vets, I have e mailed the ones I stated but no response yet.
- 2016-10-05 13:43 Skywalker99
- link to the ad https://www.gumtree.com/p/dogs/stanley-big-loving-dog-bull-mastiff-x-dogue-de-bordeux/1189220688

- That old gumtree ad does look like him..it was only advertised 13 days ago...says unfair to keep the dog as was living in a flat..so had him for sale at £300. is anyone in touch with the kennels to try that name (Stanley) with him and see if there's a reaction? (why is he called star here? Adding a made up kennel name ..if thats what it is..can really mislead anyone potentially looking for a lost dog...they could immediately discount it as not theirs if they feel a name is already known). if is IS the one on the ad' then this is the 2nd time he's been rehomed in 4yrs...that we know of. Poor lad.Last edited: 2016-10-05 13:40:58 by Jot cotswolds

- 2016-10-05 12:41 Unknown
- Didn't get far with that. Only found 2 with e mails. Gpvets and Basingstoke vet
- 2016-10-05 12:33 Unknown
- I'm going to quickly e mail them all.
- 2016-10-05 12:29 Unknown
- We need to get him on all Basingstoke sites as he is clearly from there. Anybody got time to ring some vets. I'm on site today so not able to.
- 2016-10-05 12:17 Skywalker99
- Nickjim - does that mean his old owners have come forward? and they have no idea where they rehomed their dog? no name, phone number, email...nothing? Poor Star, I hope he hasn't been dumped.

- 2016-10-05 00:38 Doglover
- Have. Shared in Buckinghamshire area as that is where he is chipped and Hampshire area as that is where he was found. Two possibilities are that owners have moved to Basingstoke...or...he has been stolen from Buckinghamshire. X
