owner cannot get on site but has read all of this at his father's home. he is looking for pic but his digi cam has broken. he has been to the police to make a complaint and has spoken to an officer who has gone through the crime report and admitted he does not understand why the matter has been resolved. owner continues to pursue the police to have his crime investigated!!!Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

To add a different light on missy..i sold a puppy i had bred and cared for.for 8wks of its life.i sold him to what i believed at the time was a excellent home and one where he would be looked after..after only two days i had to go and get him back.at first his new owners where very obnoxious towards me.i contacted my local police and explained everything i even told them that if these people didnt allow me to take him back i was willing to steal him..the policeman i spoke to agreed with me and later said we hadnt had this conversation..i was advised to put my case to the rspca who in turn would act on the information and go and get my boy,but they said he would then be their property and it was very unlickley i would get him back..after another two days of being polite and offering his new owners more than i sold him for did they hand my puppy back..so as a breeder of boxers i can understand if missy,s breeder has taken her back for the dogs welfare and safety..i would take the same action again if for some reason a dog bred by me wasnt being looked after or neglected.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I agree there's something not right here. I know the police can be pretty useless when it comes to dealing with dog theft, but to say they are leaving the dog where she is so the children don't get upset doesn't ring true. I get the feeling they might think the dog is better off where it is. Why isn't this owner moving heaven and earth to get his dog back? There has been nothing about this in the local papers (I live in Lowestoft).Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I'm thinking this is why the breeder took such drastic action to get the dog back, May be they had good reason, and as you say emmabellalandy if it was yours and a lot of others on here you would have had a photo on here as soon as poss. Also not a lot of posting from owner crime number or not. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Sorry just caught up with this.ive been away for a couple of months.. Ok i take it as missy was stolen from her owners..by the breeder..if the owners have had her from being a puppy they would of got her pedigree and a change of owner certificate.which is simple fill it in and send it off to the KC..missy should be registered to them and this is a document the police can act on as it proves ownership.and im sure the kc would help out in verifying the dates of change etc.or it could be the new owners didnt get any paper work as missy could be from a BYB.. i just hope missy is home soon safe and her breeder doesnt decide to mate her with a mastiff for goodness sake what is up with this man.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

i agree with you doglady i think there miight have been a good reason why the breeder took this dog back as it said in the post that the breeder has not denied having the dog and has admitted to breaking in and taking the dog back and for the ploice to leave the dog in the care of the burgulars,, something not right here, perhaps full story is not being told here if it was a dog that i had breed and wasnt being treated properly i would take it back , this is just my opinion xxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Have only just picked up on this one. 2 things - No-one should be surprised that the Police are doing nothing, this is par for the course. The fact that you and I pay their wages doesn't matter, there are more important things to be getting on with! -If Missy was important to the owners they would move heaven and earth to get her back. Missy cannot speak for herself so step up to the plate and start shouting. On behalf of mankind Missy I apologise for the distress that this is causing. Stay safe. xxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Got to say I feel this dose sound a bit like we don't know all the story behind this, But we will see if the owner dose make a fuss and proving that the dog as been well look after and that they were not in tending to breed from her and this was not what the breeder wanted and when they first got the dog this was a part of the agreement. Also we have not had a photo of this dog as of yet. this is a case of watch this space. Just hope Missy is well and is being look after poor little girl. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

The length of ownership is not the only important factor. I would be more interested in knowing if the breeder had valid reasons for believing that the dog was being mistreated in some way. There are many ways to mistreat a dog. Putting it on Doglost doesn't automatically make the owner caring. I know of one dobe breeder who has been breeding her bitch every season since she was nine months old. As I said before, not all the facts are known here. Seems off that the breeder would take one bitch back from a litter, just to breed a cross litter......Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hey tori this dog has been with its owner (the man who has had her stolen) for two years!! The dog was stolen a month ago. The essence on this one is owner has crime reference relating to a crime report about a burglary. that report details ,missy as the stolen property. man has admitted breaking into house and taking dog and owner has identified dog as his in the presence of the police but police are taking no action, saying it is down to him to get the dog back - even though it was stolen in a burglary they are supposed to be investigating!! media are on to this one and owner continues to put pressure on the police to take action.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I assume here that the former owner did not have a good reason for taking the puppy back? If the pup was being mistreated in some way for example...cheque for the puppy bounced ect. I know of an awful case where the pup had a horrific life and was later reclaimed by the breeder. Did the purchaser have KC papers signed for the pup, a written receipt of sale/sign a contract of sale, copy of the pedigree ect? Proof the ownership of the pup was trasferred by contract of sale? Sounds a bit odd that the owner intended to cross a Mastiff with a Boxer, these pups could not be KC registered...The most important thing here is the welfare of the puppy, not that either families children were upset if/when it left. There is not really enough information here to say if the puppy should be returned. I hope whatever happens the puppy has a long and very happy lifexxxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

This is apalling, sadly not surprising. Its not lawful is it, its not down to police to decide who should have someone's property. This should be on local news. What next keeping people's children! Why is a dog considered to be so low on the priority scale. Real owner get a good brief and go to the top asap, while this is new. Get on local radio and tv they cannot keep it. If they (the ones who have the dog at present) are genuine people who would be good dog owners then they can apply for one of the MANY lovely dogs looking for a loving home.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

What as been said about taking the dog back the way it went missing may not be the way forward, But I would get in-touch with KC if they had papers, the other thing to do is to make a fuss where the Thieving B****rds live also as was said go to the paper national ones and make such a fuss aslo talk to Dog wardens and alike just in case they try to move her on. BUT IF YOU FEEL THIS WILL NOT WORK WITH THIS TYPE THEN DO AS taome SAID AND KICK THE B****rds DOOR DOWN. WHAT A BLOOD SHOWER THE OLD BILL ARE. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Have to say I started to type something along these lines last night, then thought better of it, but in the cold light of day I would say if it was me I'd go mob handed and bring my dog back, its often the only way these sort of people understand.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hopefully what goes around comes around !! Have you not heard of the saying there time will come ! They can't keep this dog in the house forever they must walk it or they must have a garden it goes into ?? They cant be in there house 24 -7 ?? So the police won't even have them done for breaking and entering ?? How unusual !!! the pc who looked at scrappys info should take a look at this one and wonder why we are so annoyed with them as they don't want to do anything !! Yet again what a help the police have been !! (NOT)Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

This is totally out of order. What the hell are the police playing at. Do they think they are God. Go higher up in the police as this is a theft you cannot sell something then take it back. What a cheek the Thieving B****rds have. If they wanted her for breeding ,why did they not keep her in the first place.Although if they are that type of people they seem to be she would be well out of it. I do hope you get her back ASAP. Stay safe sweetie. xxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Bizarre story here. Owner bought the puppy from the people who broke into his house to steal her back. Owner was given a crime number and police visited the thief-they called owner to go and verify it was his dog which he did-then the police said they were going to leave Missy where she was as the mans kids would be upset!!!!!!! NO THOUGHT FOR HOW UPSET THE OWNERS KIDS ARE! The thief then said he only wanted to breed from her with his Mastiff! Okay peeps have your say.........Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
