Welcome home Fudge. Please stay close now Fudge.:-)xxx And no ore roaming. BELATED BIRTHDAY GREETINGS TO YOUR OWNER X I am pleased you are grounding Fugdge. I was advised to keep my cat indoors for one month as she has been straying for some time

Fudge Jenkins arrived home last night about midnight, after being picked up by volunteers from Last Chance Hotel ( local rescue centre in Cornwall). Some of their volunteers were over that way on a rescue run & offered to collect him on their way back to Cornwall. I did go over to visit his owner, who was celebrating her birthday nearby, & hoped to meet him, but sadly they were delayed getting back & I missed him.
Here is his photo from this morning. (top one). His owner is keeping him confined to barracks for a while & he will be fitted with a gps tracker collar.

I would keep him in for a few weeks...although I doubt he will make his way back from Newport to St Albans! Does he wear a collar that a gps tracker could be fitted to?
Captain
Yes, Max, and very near to where he was lost. Just need to get him back home safely now x

So pleased Fudge Jenkins has been found. Wishing Fudge all he best for a full recovery. Presume dehydrated> I think you are correct NickyB I would definitely keep Fudge in for a least two weeks; maybe three or he may try to find his way back where he was found. Stay very close now Fudge Jenkins, and no more roaming okay? So happy for owner. GET WELL SOON FUDGE:-) (HUG)X
NickyB
brilliant news - but due to relocation and his age perhaps he should be confined to barracks for at least two weeks so he realises where he is now is home

It is just such fabulous news. I suspected someone would find him, as he is such a friendly cat. The best Birthday present ever for his owner.
Now to get him back safely :)

Just had the best birthday present ever!
Fudge Jenkins is FOUND! He’s been residing in a shed in the Sandridge Road area.
A kind gentleman that Fudge approached recognised him as the missing cat and the Cats Protection have attended, scanned and confirmed it’s him this afternoon.
BEST BIRTHDAY PRESENT EVER!
Thank you so much to all who have helped in the search to find him ... "

janiejewel1649, thank you, the owners are getting a lot of media coverage on local radio & local newspaper & they have people who are hopefully going to get posters up in the area. He is such an affectionate cat & loves people/food/snuggles etc. Hopefully he will be home soon.
Unknown
When a cat escapes in an unknown area, they will usually seek refuge in a nearby garden. Will be a good idea to poster around the area where he escaped. And maybe a LOST CAT ad in a newspaper. I would ask families (If you can) as children can be very observant. Paws xd.

Owner has been on 3 Counties Radio to spread the word of Fudge's plight & has been approached by other media in area to do a story. Bumping his page, hope it brings some sightings or good news soon.
DogLostMax - Area Co-ordinator - Cornwall & Area Volunteer - Durham & Ireland
Skywalker99, can't go into any more detail, I explained as much as I am able. He was scanned on 3rd Oct' by van driver & subsequently escaped.
Skywalker99
So has he been scanned subsequently to the van driver getting him scanned? or is the scanning the vet is denying the one the van driver took him to? if he has been scanned subsequently then likely looking for someone who has acquired a cat like fudge, and if only scanned with van driver then could be looking for a feral fudge.
DogLostMax - Area Co-ordinator - Cornwall & Area Volunteer - Durham & Ireland
Skywalker99...........It is a long story, but Fudge fell asleep in back of van in Cornwall. Owner/van went back to St Albans, he was discovered & was taken by van owner to be checked for chip, she then took him home to ring owner & he escaped.
Owner is now trying to get Fudge home. He is a very friendly cat & will seek human company & food :)

This is his fb page if anyone in St Albans can help....https://www.facebook.com/groups/135720533561175/

It seems Fudge is in St Albans, somewhere. He had lift in someone's van ( fell asleep) & has subsequently escaped. As can be seen from Captains updte below, there is a lot of mystery surrounding him having been scanned.
Admin, please can alerts go out in St Albans area. Will bump his page.
Georgy Porgy
Might be worth checking any animal centres in the area in case he was found. Sorry for my ignorance but how do chip company know it was a vets practise that scanned him? Perhaps a member of public took him in to be scanned usually done by a nurse
Captain
Owner has posted following updates:
1) "I’ve felt calm about Fudge Jenkins being missing but, this morning, that has all changed. I feel stressed, confused and a bit frustrated.
I phoned the microchip company this morning to report Fudge as missing.
Standard phone call you would think.
Errr......No.
Turns out on their system someone scanned his microchip at a vets in ..... wait for it.. Hertfordshire (yes Hertfordshire) on 3rd October.
Now waiting for the microchip company to speak to the vets in Hertfordshire to try and find out what is going on."

2) "So the vets in Hertfordshire are adamantly saying they haven’t scanned Fudge Jenkins and the microchip company are adamantly saying that the vets have scanned him.
I emailed Animal Search UK this morning asking for help. Their unhelpful reply was they can’t help and they said I should take it up with the vets and the microchip company.
I have tonight emailed the British Veterinary Association asking if they can help at all.
Fingers crossed.
I’m trying my best Fudge. X "

Can anyone advise owner how she can find out where Fudge is as microchip company are saying he has been scanned in Hertfordshire, but vets who have supposedly scanned him according to the microchip company are saying they have no knowledge.

When Fudge vanished last year he was eventually found in Plymouth. He didn't get from Newquay in Cornwall by himself and certainly didn't get to Hertfordshire by himself.

Presume all outbuildings checked including empty houses, and cellars in case shut in. Empty contents of the hoover on to the garden as his scent will be there. Put his unwashed blanjet intoi a clean container, along with your scent too. Leave in the garden in a sheltered spot, or hang on the washing line if dry; used towels too. Wipe his scent on your garden fences, gates, doors too; leading up to the garden. Walk around the area holding an object with his scent on, and rattle some Dreamies. It may be that more than one household is feeding Fudge. (I knew of one cat that was being fed by four different households as well as the owner) When it is nightfall, I would take a torch when searching in case he is still around. It can happen. I would also ask friends, and neighbours to share as well as DL Consider a LOST CAT ad in a National newspaper too in case he has climbed into a vehicle. Poster around the area, and post flyers through doors too. ?When he returns I would keep Fudge indoors for at least 10 days, or he may go awol again. Hope Fudge is home very soon. Paws xd.

Fudge has gone missing again.
He is a very well known cat in Newquay & most people will take him home or let owners know so they can collect him. It is virtually a year ago since he last went missing & turned up in Plymouth.

Fudge is home :) I believe he is neutered. He may have cadged a lift, who knows! He is home safe & grounded, lol
Skywalker99
True...if he lives near the centre he may not have a garden?

It`s just that neutered cats have a smaller territory; ab out 4/7 garden spaces as to where they live normally. Last edited: 2016-12-16 21:24:48

Agree, he's a secret hitchhiker :) Applause to whoever found him and took him to be scanned. Big thanks to that person. So pleased he will be coming home and hope he soon feels better.
Skywalker99
I suspect the lift hitching theory is correct...long way for an uneutered cat to go!
Unknown
Wonderful news. so p;lease Fudge has been found. Hope he is okay
Get well soon Fudge

I Presume fudge un-neutered. It is a long way for neutered cat to go, unless he "Hitched a lift" :-)xxx

Keep us posted

This is just the best news for Fudge and his family. So happy to know he is now safe and can soon be back home where he belongs.

Fudge has been found :) Apparently he was wandering on Dartmoor! He is currently on a drip in the PDSA at Plymouth, but is expected to be allowed home tomorrow.
Get well soon Fudge, I hope your adventures will be closer to home from now on xx

Early days yet Check all sheds, garages, greenhouses etc in case ,locked in; nrighbours too. Put some tuna in his dish, and call him; night/early morning is best. Rattle some treats too. Put something with his scent on into a clean container such as his blanket/bedding/soft toy, along with something with your scent on too. Leave oin the garden in a sheltered spot or hang on the washing line if dry Wipe his scent on your garden fences, gates, doors too; anything that leads up to the house. Take a very golod walk around the area whre he goes, taking with you something with his scent on, and rattle some trfeats such as dreamies. Someone may be feeding him Warm up some chicken/fish in the microwave as the smeel may tempt him home. Poster around the area, and put "Lost" posters through doors too. Paws xd.

Fudge is a regular around Newquay (they live in the centre), he is well known. His owners are letting people know he hasn't been home for a few days. He has stayed away in the past, but hasn't done so for a while.
Come home Fudge Jenkins xx
