Not checked in for a few days and thought I'd missed something when I couldn't find Sweep in "lost" section. What brilliant news to hear he's back home - don't think I could have coped with the tension of the few days he was at the vets and checking in here for news! Best wishes Sweep and family.

Thank you for the update. He must be a strong dog to have survived that long. Keep fighting Sweep x

Update from vet tonight - he is now drinking and keen to eat - so having little and often. He is still on saline and glucose drip and enjoying human contact. He is too weak to stand and has lost 25% of his body weight. His blood tests show severe dehydration and liver damage and the vets offered to put him down initially but we wanted to give him a chance and he is certainly trying to get better. He is not distressed and has no injuries apparent. The vets are amazed that he has survived so long without food and water. It is an absolute miracle.
Thanks everyone for all your support and good wishes. Even if he does not make it at least we found him. I am hoping he will improve enough to come home soon.

It may be worth contacting Ipswich Borough Council to see if a Collie has been picked up as a stray.

Someone commented on Facebook that a dog like sweep was found in Ipswich earlier this week. Is there anyone in Ipswich that I can contact about him?
docanni
Thank you Helen and Sam and Loki. I thought Loki was amazing.
I wish we had found Sweep - dead or alive but at least I feel he is not lying nearby and that we have missed him in our searching. Maybe someone did pick him up and took him home. So strange not to come and ask if he belonged somewhere.
Maybe he is alive somewhere. I still hope we may find him. Thank you again - I really appreciate your efforts - Annette

Just back from searching for Sweep and although sadly we didn't find him, Loki picked up his scent so we do know which way he went when he went missing from the garden, we spent a few hours tracking and searching. A neighbouring farmer very kindly allowed us to search his out buildings and let Loki search, although Loki did not pick up a scent. I have advised the owner to get more posters up in the area (flyers have been posted through doors in the area) incase Sweep has been picked up whislt out on the road

I have shared again on FB and have put up a poster at my workplace. Will also put some up in my village of Ilketshall st Andrew. Hope you find this lovely boy.

Has anyone thought of emailing St Peter's brewery/hall to see if they will put up posters - they get a fair amount of visitors plus brewery delivery lorries should be out and about. I think beers@stpetersbrewery.co.uk is the email address. Not a good place to go missing as even humans have been known to get lost in "the saints"! (me included)

I have spoken to the owner and Sweep disappeared from the garden.
The Dog Warden and local vets have been notified and I have advised the owner to contact the chip company and to put plenty of posters up in the area.
