A big thank you to all of you. As we'd had no notification to the contrary, we were buoyed up by the belief that, with so many people involved in the search Dylan would be found eventually, and this kept us positive. Was not to be, sadly.

I'm so very sorry to hear that Dylan did not make it home. Fireworks have a lot to answer for. Not the way we all wanted this search to end and such a hard loss to bear but at least you know what has happened to him.
Such a shame that the family had not found out earlier but grateful that the railway company did let you know.
Rest in peace dear Dylan :( Last edited: 2016-10-31 18:21:49 by Clarkey - Area Co-ordinator, East Sussex

Sadly found deceased on railway track
Annabelle
Will poster Moulsecomb station and put some more around the golf course, on the offchance
Annabelle
I got a guy from railtrack to take a look, unfortunately he thought he was meant to look in the opposite direction, when he realised the distance from here to Moulescomb he said he could only do a little bit of the track. it's night anyway, so I don't think he'd have seen much
Clarkey - Area Co-ordinator, East Sussex
Thanks for the update Annabelle and glad you have been in touch with Network Rail. They are usually quite helpful if you tell them about sightings on the tracks. If Dylan is ok he may make it off the tracks and on to the banks alongside them.
Dylan may even have got off the tracks via a station so would be good idea to put posters in stations further along the line.
It goes without saying that no-one should go on the tracks to search please.

Annabelle
Checked with Network Rai, Vaughan says the nightshift have reported nothing, awaiting dayshift report
Annabelle
Postered Wild Park, Withdean park and Stanmer, all pretty well covered.
Annabelle
Definite sighting of Dylan immediately after the fireworks on track at London Rd st. The woman almost enticed him back, a firework went off and he ran off under the Ditchling rd bridge. She told 2 drivers and conductors, who drove slowly but no luck. Network Rail are right now walking along the track after I reported this

Annabelle, if it was him it's quite possible that he could have been released by someone who had him because of all your postering. If it was him then he will no doubt be seen again.
I've bumped the page for the sighting and have also added the new info about a reward. Last edited: 2016-10-28 15:46:41 by Clarkey - Area Co-ordinator, East Sussex

A caller said he'd seen Dylan in Preston Park yesterday around 6pm, wearing a blue collar. Well, he's not there at present but it's possible he'd been taken in, collared and then released when the adopter saw how much publicity there was about Dylan, particularly with a TV crew being involved.
allimac
oh how awful for you to have your hopes raised like that, just to have them dashed.
Come on Dylan, show yourself!
Annabelle
No luck. There was confusion , it was another dog returned to owner last week, this guy was just sharing Dylan's details
Clarkey - Area Co-ordinator, East Sussex
IT would be brilliant if it was Dylan. How strange that they have not put up a notice about the dog they found before now. Also I wonder why they did not report to the Dog Wardens as required. If it is him at least he is safe and being cared for. I'm sure we will all be waiting to hear if it is him or not! I have everything crossed for you Annabelle.
Annabelle
Dylan found, maybe!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He's probably been found by an estate agent half a mile up the road but I won't know for sure until it opens tomorrow morning.
Clarkey - Area Co-ordinator, East Sussex
Thanks Annabelle. I've changed the photo for you so it's more obvious that the posters are new ones, which hopefully will encourage people to read the new wording on it.
That's interesting information and should probably not to be dismissed. If these people still have Dylan, however well meaning they are, then they should have reported finding him to the Dog Wardens (as required by law) If this is what happened then at least he is safe but unfortunately some people are not aware they are supposed to report finding a dog so when they see posters up everywhere they may call you.
If anyone knows where Dylan is now please call his owners or Doglost in TOTAL CONFIDENCE on 0844 800 3220. Thank you.

The TV people are following some of our Doglost cases so thanks for allowing them to film you. As you probably know Doglost is a national organisation (not a charity yet) and they have been doing this all over the country. The show will not be on until after New Year so you will have a bit of a wait to see yourself on tv! Let us know how you get on with your search and let's hope Dylan is found long before that!

Clarkey- will continue to put up posters. I agree with you about the need to make Dylan too hot to handle. Thanks to everyone here for helping out.Last edited: 2016-10-25 22:01:20 by Annabelle

A tentative sighting has been reported of Dylan being seen minutes after running away with a 40-something couple. Seems unlikely it was him as he would have been hard to apprehend at the time. Funny allimac should mention funfairs as of course there was a funfair in Preston Park last Saturday. But Dylan was heading the wrong way and I doubt he'd have returned there later. We went round the park later ourselves anyway.
Annabelle
Had a visit today from a TV production company making a series about lost dogs, in collaboration with a dog charity. They followed me around as I put up posters and made phone calls. Not sure when the programme's coming out but it might provide useful publicity if Dylan doesn't turn up soon.
allimac
Can't believe there have been no sightings. :(
will print off some posters tomorrow and put up around where I take my mutt for walks, fiveways and beyond. Everything crossed for you.
But, as you say, if no sightings, flood it with posters.
If there were any traveller or funfair sites around, knock on caravan doors, ask them. I know they get a bad press, but loads of people are really helpful. My friend's dog was found that way (and, no, they had not taken her). x

So sorry to see Dylan is still missing, hoping so much there will be some good news very soon .
Clarkey - Area Co-ordinator, East Sussex
Thanks for the update Annabelle. It does seem unusual not to have had any sightings at all in that area. It's possible, as you say, that someone has taken Dylan in and has not reported it to the Dog Wardens (which is required by law) so as before, I would suggest getting literally loads and loads of posters up so that he is made too hot to handle. If anyone does have him then sooner or later a neighbour will see him and may call you with information.
Bear in mind that even if Dylan can hear you he is in 'survival' mode so he could be hiding in bushes, undergrowth or behind outbuildings etc.
The other possibility is that he has been shut in somewhere by mistake. So I have put something on the poster to ask people to check sheds, garages, gardens etc.
I know you will not give up so let's hope you get some information soon.
Best of luck with your search.
Annabelle
Many thanks to all of you for being so supportive
Annabelle
Lots of people keeping an eye out for Dylan and putting up more posters. Dog warden yesterday said it was unusual not to have had any news by now. Went round Preston Park late last night, it's definitely a better idea than doing so in the daytime as yes, it's so much easier for a dog to hear you. I could be heard almost from one side to the other yesterday, no way Dylan wouldn't have heard us if he'd been there. Perhaps he's been taken in by someone who'll get tired of him running their accommodation!

So sorry to see that Dylan is missing. I have sent you our Doglost advice email to you Annabelle which may help you with your search for Dylan.
Most important is to get as many posters out as possible please so that you can get sightings coming in. Please comment on here when you have any so that I can 'bump' the page for you.
Please try leaving scent items like your dog's bedding/your unwashed clothing (socks/tshirts work well) at the place where he was lost so that Dylan has a familiar scent to come back to and to settle down with. This is most likely to happen when all has gone quiet or in the early hours.
Please keep us updated on the page to let us know how you are getting on with your search. Hopefully Dylan will be home very soon.
