Bumped due to possible sightings and Echo publicity.

Poochpal spotted on the Echo on-line news page that someone saw a dog fitting Welly's description when he was walking past Boots at about 5:10pm yesterday with some homeless people hanging around there. He thought it odd that they had a spaniel as that's not a breed 'I associate with dossers'. Also mentioned that it should definitely be on CCTV.

Please get it out to the homeless community that this dog has a family who are looking for him and just want him home. No questions asked and thanks to whoever is looking after him. Just let us know where he is. Last edited: 2016-10-26 16:19:27 by Bobble - Area Co-ordinator - Somerset & East Sussex

Normally the attending paramedics are very aware of any dogs present because they can be protective of the patient.
Has anyone contacted Radio Devon to put out an alert? It could be that a kind member of the public offered to look after Welly and now does not know who to contact. It is doubtful that Bryony's friend was able to give such details at the time if she was confused.

Yes baydogs, that would be a good starting point. Also there should be CCTV outside Boots and/or neighbouring shops? If he ran off frightened he may have gone behind the shops and they should definitely have CCTV round back entrances. How far is Welly from his own home? Is he trying to make his way back there?
Baydogs
A phone call or email to the local ambulance trust to ask if Welly was at the scene when they arrived?

Bryony, as your friend was confused, is it definite WELLY was with her & outside Boots? Could he still be at her home?

Echoing nickyjm's post below- I would have thought Boots staff would be called upon for assistance in a situation like this. Phoning or calling in at the branch may provide the information that you need.

Hope you find Welly soon and that your friend makes a speedy recovery.Last edited: 2016-10-26 08:59:10 by Baydogs

I'm sure you have already thought of this but has someone checked he hasn't wandered back & is waiting outside Boots for his owner?
BryonyD-J
Thank you everyone for your help. Am going to phone around the Exeter vets this morning. Exeter City council (dog warden) was informed last night and I also called the non-emergency police so they are also aware he's missing. I have asked friends to share on FB (as has my daughter) and so far it's had over 500 shares. Keeping everything crossed we get him back soon : (

I was going to contact Exeter College to ask for posters to go up and volunteers to help, but they are on half term this week.
DogLostBobble - Area Co-ordinator - Somerset & East Sussex
I have contacted Bryony and offered help and advice.

Is there anyone in Exeter who can help with going around the shops with posters?

Also there are some friendly Big Issue sellers in that part of the city who have dogs, it would be worth asking them if they remember Welly and have seen or heard anything.

Wonder if the boots staff may know what happened to him. As Jasper has said there must be CCTV outside the store?

Bryony so sorry to hear about your friend. I hope she make a good recovery. Is someone monitoring the contact numbers that the microchip company have? Hopefully a vet or passerby has had him safe overnight and you will hear good news today I have shared to an Exeter friend. X

As this is a pedestrian area, it will have cctv covering that whole area. Someone with a dog would stand out a mile.
