Just to add that this story also has another happy ending, if you could call it that.

A dog loving Shrewsbury couple read about Baxter's disappearance last Tuesday and went into town to look for him. They didn't spot him, but did come across some teenagers up by St.Mary's who were "on their way" to a party at the Buttermarket. One of them - our 14 yr old daughter regrettably - was in need of medical attention following her first experience with vodka, as well as a head injury following a fall. The couple offered to call home, and managed to get hold of my wife who rushed up to town. The police also arrived and took statements.

The ambulance waiting time was at least 30 minutes, so the couple even helped get our daughter to Shrewsbury A&E, where she remained in and out of consciousness for 6 hours and had a brain scan for the large lump on her head. She was then transferred to Telford for 24hr observation, and was released the following day and was thankfully given the all clear. Believe me we have had a lot of conversations since then about making better choices! None of us want to go through that again - especially her, she has no memories whatsoever of that night and is very shaken by the whole experience.

But if it had not been for these people's loving efforts to go out of their way to find Baxter, who knows what would have happened to our daughter that night? So a massive thank you to them again - and also to Baxter, who hopefully is safe at home now being spoiled rotten, and who accidentally saved our daughter's life without knowing it.

Thank you Vets Get Scanning for the S/Star link,. Seems it appeared after I had searched through its latest stories & saw nothing about the Theft !
If anything good can come from such an evil crime, let's hope it raises awareness of danger of leaving our Dogs alone ,. Even in the safety of our gardens these days it seems 😞
WellDone Shropshire Police & all concerned ,. It was good to see that they were Tweeting this Theft,. Some Forces never do ,. Although Shropshire Cops are always very responsive to tweets,. Cheshire too

DogsTrust have a premises on St Mary's St (I presume it is still there ?)

The facebook story says that Baxter was stolen from outside a shop - I assume the Police were informed and a crime reference number obtained - please can you send this to admin at DogLost. I hope Baxter can be found soon.

Is there any CCTV in Shrewsbury Town Centre - I imagine so ?
