- 3 years tomorrow, still missing :( From owner on fb page:
So here we are on the eve of Patch being missing for 3 years.
Firstly I would like to thank you all for continuing to look at, like and share this post.
It’s so important to us.
Sadly I have no more to tell you than I did a year ago. Still no sightings.
To be honest I think my wife and I are beginning to believe that he must have gone to ground chasing a rabbit and got stuck in the run which would have been a terrible end for such a wonderful dog.
We don’t want to believe it but after 3 years and no sightings we reluctantly have to think that way for our own sanity.
I took close on 3 months off work searching day and night for him all to no avail.
Thanks again for reading this but if we don’t don’t hear anything soon I think this will be my last post unfortunately.
We have taken other rescue dogs into our home to help fill the void and a grand job they make of it, but it still doesn’t stop us thinking of Patch every single day and of what become of him.

- UPDATE on FB
1 year on, Patch is still missing, today is the day that Patch went missing whilst on a walk in Bere Regis BH20 7LQ , 11am on the 11th day of the 11th month, not a day go past that Alan Hewitt and Mandy doesn’t think of what happened to their little Patch, the hours turned in to days, the days turned into a weeks the weeks turned into months and now today is the 1 year anniversary to when he went missing, Alan searched tirelessly for Patch from early in the morning until the wee small hours, for months Alan was even staying out all night, wouldn’t eat, hardly slept, wouldn’t work, searching nonstop 18+ hours a day, Alan and Mandy never gave up on trying to find their little furbaby, the Bere Regis community were Amazing, pulling together helping with the searching was phenomenal, all the lost dog groups in Dorset also pulled together helping with the searching, with strangers from out of the area joining in with the searching, even a friend of Alan’s came searching and lost her dog Charlie while searching for Patch, so at one stage we had 2 dogs to search for, luckily Charlie was found the next day but sadly Patch was not, I cannot imagine the pain and heartache that Alan and Mandy have to go through every single day, of never knowing what happened to my dog if this happened to me, it is thought that patch went down a rabbit hole, but we all hope he made it out as we covered every inch of the area many times, Alan searched every single one with the help of volunteers, over and over again day in day out, come rain or shine, Alan tried every single thing in the hope of finding his little Patch, the time hard work and dedication that both Alan and Mandy went through with searching took its toll on the family, no income, hardly seeing each other, Alan constantly being out in the rain and the winter months, Mandy keeping the house running without Alan, having to look after the other dogs and searching when she could, Alan was hardly home over Christmas, New Year, birthdays, months and months of spending hours away from the family and the other dogs in the hope that today was the day that Patch would be found, then came the time that Alan had to go back to work, he then still searched before work, lunchtime and then after work until the early hours, for more months and all weekend, Alan never gives up and still walks the woods in the hope that one day he will see Patch again, if anyone has any information on the 1 year anniversary could you please contact Alan, Help FIND Patch In Bere Regis, or you can contact Janice Wiggin Doglost coordinator in confidence, if you have Patch please just let someone know he is safe! #bereregis #purbeck #dorset #1yearanniversary #helpfindpatchinbereregis #wareham

- Hi, there was a poster in Groves, Bridport for a white and tan jack russell named Patch who needed to be rshomed. It said he doesn't get on with other dogs? Does that mean anything to you? Apparently he was taken by a lady who was seen offering her dog to a friend outside Lidl as they didn't get on.!!

- A lot of work has been going on in the background and all leads whether factual or spiritual have been followed up by Patches owners who are working so hard, searching day and night.
For the second time now equipment set up to help the search has been tampered with. The most recent location was not made public, so it is a mystery as to who is doing this but the decision has been made to greatly reduce the amount of the reward offered. - 2016-12-04 20:55 Poochpal - Regional Co-ordinator - South West - Police Liaison Team
- Update from Patch's owner,
Patch update: Sorry I haven't posted much lately but as you have probably guessed there has been little to report. Those who seen the request to stay out of the area early this morning are probably a bit wondrous as to why. There have been things going on at night and day that none of us will probably have seen. More so at night. Patch appears to have a bit of a routine going on. Visiting certain areas at certain times of day. This in itself is why we have all been kept in the dark ( yes me as well ). It's imperative that the small amount of volunteers are left to do there work without any distractions. These people have my utmost respect as they are going way behind the call of duty you expect of volunteers. Think how cold the nights have been and you will know where I'm coming from. Trust me, if he is there then he will be coming home and I will never be able to reward those people enough. Sorry about the secrecy but it is very much part of the process. Thanks for continuing to be interested, Alan - 2016-11-29 11:40 Doglover
- There is now a large cash reward for the safe return of Patch....

- No news front the weekend searches I'm afraid but thank you to all who joined in I have walked the area this morning, still nothing. Patch's owners must be exhausted, just one sighting or just a bark or whimper from one of the many rabbit holes could make all the difference.

- Peter Hawkins ...many thanks for organising a search for Patch this weekend
*** Search 4 Patch ***
Saturday at 10am and Sunday at 10 am meet at The Royal Oak carpark, or 10:30am at the gate top the track next to the graveyard on Egdon Close Bere Regis. Alan Hewitt Patchs owner will be at the pubs carpark at 10am.
Contact Alan direct for any questions asked or info.
I've updated patch photo due to my mistake putting up a puppy photo or his right photo of him as a young adult as he is age six years old.
Alan and Mandy appreciate all the help and support given so far and will appreciate it more to come.
Remember if your going to help advice bring a pack lunch and plenty of water or drink. And wrap up warm for both days.
Many thanks in advance.

Could you all please keep your eyes peeled for our much loved Jack Russell, Patch. I lost him at 11.00 am today (Friday) at the gate in Egdon Wood. My fear is that he has gone down a hole and got stuck. We are just going back again now(6.15 pm). If you see him please contact me on 07966589787.
