I'm over the moon for you, that your clever boy found his way back home, what a relief you must be feeling, and him too, i bet that tail hasn't stopped wagging and that tongue hasnt stopped licking you all😊 I agree with S, a harness and collar is your only wtg now, and you only really have to clip that 2nd collar lead on for crossing the road. Good luck at the vet, you will make his day too with the good news. You are now a family again, and i couldnt be more happy for you. All this help and support, what a wonderful bunch doglovers are💕

The best news!! Vikki, when things are a bit more settled and Monty is all cuddled out, let me have your address (via Sue if you prefer) and I'll send you a LinkiLead lead link. Amongst other things, you can use it to attach two leads to one (so one lead attached to collar, one attached to a harness for instance)which even Houdini Dood Monty would find a tad difficult to wriggle out of! ;) Just until you have recovered your confidence after this dreadful ordeal xx https://www.facebook.com/theleadlinkthing/

Brilliant to hear Monty is home, safe and in the dry again! Lovely news so early today. Well done for doing all you did to find him, a great job. So many people wanted this happy ending for you.
He was obviously holed up out of the rain somewhere and when quiet managed to cross the road safely and make it home to you, clever lad!!
Thanks to each and everyone who helped search, poster and support VikkiJ and family. It makes all the difference.
Please let our Dog Wardens know that Monty's home and anyone else you told he was missing.
Please would anyone who sees posters take them down .. that's the very best job of all!!
Do let us know how Monty is after he has seen the vet, hopefully just minor bruises and maybe scuffed pads from running so fast.
Well done Monty!! Welcome home laddie :)

Monty is home!!!! Can't thank you enough for helping with looking, suggestions comfort, support, the response has been amazing!! I checked outside at 5am didn't even get to call him, he just dashed in licking me and lots of tail wagging then straight to his food bowl. He was pretty dry and felt warm so he was holed up somewhere! We will get him checked at the vets tomorrow. Once again thank you much love x

Thanks Retriever. Monty's owners have our Doglost advice email so have already done most of this as what you have suggested is in that.
Just to confirm that our Dog Wardens were notified as soon as Monty was lost and local vets have had a message sent to them (including the out of hours vet in the area)
It's a bit early to ask dog tracker to help but will consider requesting help if need be (and if she is available)
As it's unusual not to have any sightings for 24hrs in this area we are hoping that Monty has been taken in by someone who is not aware that our Dog Wardens are 24/7 service or that he is still holed up in the Park which he knows well. If he is still out there then he may make his own way home when it's quieter.

Hi,
If Monty is on the run he will be crepuscular i.e. Active at dawn and dusk. So these are the times to look for him. He will need a source of food and water.

Things to do:
1. Mark on a map where he went missing and in what direction
2. Put some stinky clothes that you have worn in a sheltered place near where he went missing
3. If you live near there and walk to the park plot the route on a map
4. Hoover the house and make a trail from your house to the park. You can also use urine however I would suggest you put it in a container rather than mark the route directly
4. Contact the railways, the highways and the council tomorrow
5. Contact all the vets, the rescues and the shelters
6. There is a woman and her dog that does tracking should you wish to try it
7. There is water and ponds there, these need to be searched
8. There is also a water works there which along with any other industrial units should be postered and ask if you can search.

I hope this helps

Thanks to everyone who has been out today searching and postering. So many places that Monty could be hiding up if he has not been taken in by someone. Not everyone knows that our Dog Wardens are a 24/7 service so let's hope we have some good news in the morning.
Lots and lots of people aware that Monty is still missing and over 2800 vies of this page already as well as hundreds of shares. Thanks also to Hastings Dog Lovers page for spreading the news that he was missing so quickly. Last edited: 2016-11-20 21:19:21 by Clarkey - Area Co-ordinator, East Sussex

Sorry to read Monty is still missing. Email alert received earlier and have seen fb posts. Live off Old Roar & back onto the Gill so keeping eyes peeled, hope he has been hiding up and may venture home overnight when all quiet. Fingers crossed x
VikkiJ
Thanks again for all you're help in looking for Monty. We have a little shelter with his blanket in just outside our door and will try to set up a waterproofs hide under a bush near the tennis courts. Fingers X'd xx

I'm so sorry to see that Monty has not been found yet. Apologies for not commenting earlier as I have not been online today.
I have spoken to VikkiJ and I understand that shortly after he slipped his lead he ran into a car but ran off again afterwards. Hopefully that means he was not too hurt. He was seen in the next 15 mins by the tennis courts of Alexandra Park, then again over by the Swannery and the play park. However, despite searches and postering there have been no sightings of Monty since then.
I doubt if he would have been running around in the horrendous weather last night and he may have been awake for most of it so was probably hiding up during that time. Monty is very familiar with the Park as this is where he is usually walked. Posters have been put out around most entrances already so well done to his owners as this is how you will get sightings coming in.
My feeling is that, as no further sightings, either someone has found him and taken him in without reporting to the Dog Wardens (perhaps not aware ours are 24/7 service) or that he is holed up somewhere in the Park.
I'm hoping that he may make his way home (St H's Pk Rd) when it has all gone quieter.

Although not aware of this dog missing, I have just come back from the park and did not see Monty. I live near the park so will keep an eye out in my travels.

Thanks HeleneD for looking for Monty. I'm pretty convinced he may not be in the park now. It's been covered so many times all the way up to old roar Gill. I've had friends look in St. Helens wood too. I have printed a poster out and will put some around the park and surrounding area and will get one through each bets surgery I can. My husband will be heading back out soo and will go further afield possibly by car. Thanks for support & help V

Thank you, Jayne.

Hi Helena. I posted for the owners as their signal has been hit and miss (they've been out searching since Monty ran off yesterday evening). Could you perhaps text or phone them on the numbers given, as I'm sure they would greatly appreciate your help x
HelenaD
Sorry to hear about Monty and hope he is found soon. I live in st helens park road, and we walked in st helens wood this morning for an hour, but sadly, never saw your Monty. Let's hope you have him home safe soon xx we will go into the woods again lunchtime and look out for him ok. Good luck
