This is an amazing story - it just goes to show that if you keep on looking and talking to people that miracles can happen. Well done to those owners who never gave up, you deserve all the happiness in the world, I am so delighted for you. To the people who gave her back - you are truly good people and I hope that you will adopt another dog soon so that you can be repaid your kindness and love. Gives a ray of hope to long term lost dog owners.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

We are all very happy to be reunited with Ivy after over a year!!! We happened to miraculously bump into a couple last week at Carsington Water who knew of a couple who had said that they had found a basset hound in the same area about a year ago!!!! We managed to trace Ivy a week later. She had been given away to another couple who looked after her very well but said that she was not in the best of health when they got her from the couple who stole her. After they stole her they couldn't even be bothered to care for her!! We collected her last night after providing the couple with sufficent evidence that she was our dog. Ivy is now doing very well although she is abit on the skinny side, she has already been taken to the vets to be microchipped. We can't believe how lucky we are, we thought we'd never see her again!! A huge thank you to everyone at doglost for all your help in trying to find her. xxx  Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Not good that this bitch is still missing. Any more sightings? Surely somebody must have seen a new Basset in the area - people do look at Bassets when they are out and about.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Thanks Nik! It would have helped if I'd typed jog (not job) and of course, lay the pee trail from the place she went missing from back home? Would she remember her owner (how long had she been with this owner?).Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

All I can say is keep postering where this girl was last seen - people always look at a Basset, in my experience, and if they know one is missing, it might job their memory if they see one in the vicinity that perhaps hasn't been around before. Put posters up in all the local vets too as she might be brought in for treatment at some time. Was she stolen from a garden/car? Or did she get out. It's a long time now, but you could lay a trail back to your garden (pee - sorry, but it works - for example). If you know where she was taken from, you can go back to that spot. Sorry to put this publically, I lost your PM!Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

How can people live with themselves, just to presume that a wandering dog has no owner!!! What are they thinking of, you would have thought that they would investigate or try and find the owner(s). I hope Ivy is back with her RIGHTFUL owner soon, thinking of you at this time, go poster crazy and someone will phone to let you know where she is i am sure of it. Someone somewhere knows where she is! Stay safe girl until your back home. xxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

If there have been sightings of her locally I would get as many posters up in that area as you can. People won't take car reg.numbers unless they know a dog is missing and being searched for? And surely, knowing how noisy Bassets can be, somebody locally will have heard her! Has she been gone since August? - although 12 August or 12 September, still too long to be away from home. Owner PM me if you want to!!Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Dear the team at dog lost, I am the owner of the missing basset hound bitch, Ivy, who was stolen from the Carsington Water area in Derbyshire. I have also been trying to contact you by telephone but have had no success. To update you on the situation Ivy is still missing. In answer to a certain question posted on the website, the pub landlord did not know the four people who was leading Ivy on a rope neither did local people from the village. However they were certain this was Ivy when they were shown a picture. I do have my suspicions that these people live withina relatively close range as it was 8 o'clock at night when they were seen on CCTV ar Carsington Water with her, and all local campsites and holiday cottages were checked. Also, there was a possible sighting of Ivy in the village of Kirk Ireton which is approximately 1 mile from our house. a local resident had witnessed a car pull up in the field behind their house and get a dog out for a run. The dog was identical to the one on our poster, however the witness failed to get the car registration. Please help us find our much loved Ivy, we don't know what else to try!! Thank You...e mail from owner. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

As soon as Admin receives a photograph, the poster will be emailed out to helpers. Posters need to be displayed as soon as possible on notice boards, lamp posts, entrances to parks, dog bins and on cars. Take posters to vets, pet shops, libraries, postmen (for sorting offices), milkmen, dustmen, street cleaners, taxi drivers, schools, pubs, youth clubs, newsagents, post offices, takeaways, dog training clubs, supermarkets and car parks. Hand out reduced-down posters or cards to people - especially dog walkers - and deliver to houses and businesses. Police stations, Dog Wardens, the RSPCA and all rescue centres need checking frequently and preferably visited in person by owner or someone who knows Ivy well. Owner can be contacted on 01629 825869. Awaiting photo. The people later visited the tourist office with the dog-caught on CCTV.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
