- Truly sorry for your loss Matt and family. Mutley's youthful appearance belied his age and was indeed a credit to you all. Twenty years is a long time and you will undoubtedly miss this much loved family member.

- I HAVEN’T LEFT AT ALL
I saw you gently weeping as you looked through photographs
You paused for just a moment at one that made you laugh.
But as you turned more pages the tears began to flow
You whispered that you missed me but I want you to know;
I softly licked those stinging tears that down your cheeks did fall
I want to help you understand I haven’t left at all.
On those days that you are overcome with sorrow, pain and grief
I rest my head upon your leg to offer some relief.
When you take our walking path I’ve seen you turn around
Because I know you surely heard my paws upon the ground.
At night while you are sleeping I snuggle at your side
You stroke my fur as you touch that place where I used to lie.
You said it’s just your heart playing tricks upon your mind
But rest assured I’m really there, my spirit’s left behind.
I know your heart is hurting; it’s like an open sore
You think my life has ended and you won’t see me anymore.
But for those of us bound tight by love, death is not the curtain call;
It’s really the eternal beginning that waits for us all - 2016-12-09 18:11 Helen - Regional Co-ordinator - Norfolk, Suffolk and Cambridge
- Such sad news, run free and be young again over Rainbow Bridge, thinking of your family xx

- Thank You everybody for your posts, shares, advice and offers of help. Please Stop Searching! Mutley has been found! Whilst not wanting to upset anyone I should tell you that he is now at peace with us and we are so happy that we have been reunited with him and to be able to know that he will never be alone, lost or frightened ever again. The family and I have said our goodbyes and Mutley has now been laid to rest in one of his favourite places and he is surrounded by his favourite things. Mutley lived a very long and very happy life. It was often said of him that he had the best quality of life possible as he lived in the countryside and was seldom on a lead so he could roam around our property. He was often mistaken for a much younger dog (even by vets) and made lots of friends both Dog and Human. All of our lives are much better for him having been in them and we know that Mutley is now safely in the care of friends and family that have gone before. Again my family and I offer our continued blessings on you, your loved ones and pets and wish you all long, eventful and enjoyable lives just like Mutley's. Matt x

- Matt, try to get lots of posters out in area, and surrounding villages/hamlets. Word of mouth is ok, but people forget after a day or so, or assume dog is home. Have another search around home, just in case injured & cannot quite make it back.
I will email some scenting advice. - 2016-12-09 13:20 GeoffA - Area Volunteer - Cornwall, Scotland & Northumberland
- Matt - apart from notifying dog warden and local vets, have you contacted the Orestocks Boarding Kennels in case Mutley picks up the scent of some his pals: http://www.orestockskennels.com/#contact

- Carbis rescue cornwall...Mark has a drone used for search and rescue....Matt will email you his mobile number ...not sure how far away he is...
- 2016-12-09 11:10 Baydogs
- Matt, do you know anyone with a drone? As Mutley is deaf the noise from one wouldn't freak him out and it would cover a large area whilst also pinpointing outbuildings and possible danger spots.
You've searched all ditches ponds and hedgerows where he went missing? Oldies tend not to go far...though you say he is physically fit...does he still chase the bunnies and go down holes?
You may wish to register with a tracker dog.
There is Jenny and Tiga
http://www.k9tracker.co.uk/
She is much in demand but will get back to you as soon as she can.
https://www.facebook.com/K9Tracker-293150650842737/
There is also K9 search dogs-
http://www.k9searchdog.org/
Though I believe they are having problems with kennel cough at the mo.
Have you been given human scenting instructions? This involves leaving a trail of your own diluted urine leading back to your home.
If not found by this evening, try a BBQ at dusk-smelly sausages and bacon is good.
Hoping you find him soon. - 2016-12-09 10:57 Matt
- Thank you everybody for your comments, shares and advice we are still out looking for Mutley with friends and neighbours and their dogs. Please if you know anyone in the area ask them to check their land/outbuildings etc. Bless you all from me and my family Matt x

- For those out dogwalking today Mutley initially went missing in Rumleigh, so may well be in the Rumleigh/Tuckermarsh/Bere Alston area.
Please keep looking and sharing. - 2016-12-09 00:21 Coco
- Shared. Hope she is found soon, its too cold for this old girl to be outdoors. Good luck Matt....is its quite rural, she could be stuck in hedge ? down hole etc
- 2016-12-08 23:06 ClaireC
- Matt you could try leaving his bedding or bed outside and possibly with an item of your own clothing. Please can you or any other members of your search party, check ditches that may surround your property. Alert local postie or any other local places ie pubs, local dog warden for your area. Local radio station if there is one, village shop etc.
- 2016-12-08 22:45 Baydogs
- Matt, if he has become disorientated he could be scared when found. If one of your search party see him, tell them to try and get his attention by throwing food rather than giving chase- remember that although he cannot hear he can still feel vibration through the ground and may wonder if a big beast is after him.
Gently gently does it. - 2016-12-08 22:27 Baydogs
- Sardines. Tripe or tripe sticks. Fish and chips. Hot pasties.....all good.
Was he on a walk or had he just gone out for a wee on your own land?
If the latter, does he normally come straight back?
If the former, get someone to remain at the point where you lost him...he might return to that spot. Leave a worn item of clothing there like smelly socks.
Is your own land quite extensive? - 2016-12-08 22:04 Sue - onestopalldogs

- Thanks for all the great help so far, Baydogs: Thanks for the tips, unfortunately Mutley's hearing is so bad he couldn't hear a toy, but I am loading up the search party with smelly food. Thanks loads Matt
- 2016-12-08 21:46 Baydogs
- Matt, I see that Mutley's hearing is impaired but can he still hear a squeaky toy? If so, maybe squeaking that as you search that will help him locate you.
Taking smelly food around with you might help as well. - 2016-12-08 21:46 Millypod (Chris) - Administrative Volunteer
