Thank you Kathleen, we are all glad that Schnapps was found safely and that she's well after her escapade!
Kathleen
I cannot thank Doglost and all the amazing people who have pulled together to bring about this result. I could not have done it withought you all! Schnapps was found it good condition in an empty house's garden where she had stayed dry and we think had been eating food left out for hedgehogs. It was very emotional. Thank you again each and every one of you! Xxxxx Kathleen

Excellent. I've msgd Schnapps' owner with some more advice. I've now suggested scent trail from her house to the sighting area as she may pick it up. (Only do this when the rain has stopped though!) Also as many posters up as possible.
I gather you have a sandwich board and van with posters so that's impressive!! Well done. It does seem as though Schnapps has stayed in that area (poss 'cos of the wet weather) and she's quite close to Vale Rd where she was seen before so she may be trying to retrace her route bk home. Let's hope this afternoon proves fruitful. Very best of luck.

'Schnapps was sighted in Number 5 Alfriston Road sat morning and number 15 Sun morning so she MUST be in the area. Please keep an eye out, maybe put some tasty treats out and let me know if she's seen! 07788705212'

Good to see the new sighting. As Mary says, it's important that no one chases Schnapps as she is likely to run off. Just keep an eye on her and where she goes but call her owner asap. If you are able to keep her in the area by dropping food (crouch, do not call or look straight at her) that wld help but very important not to frighten her.
I would suggest that posters are put up in Alfriston and all areas around there as Schnapps may move further on. So surrounding villages, roads/lanes etc.
You are doing everything you should be and at least you have a good idea of where Schnapps is. Let's hope she shows herself again and will be found soon.
Mary
Dogs in this situation often run away when they are called. Best to phone the owner straight away with any sightings, not make eye contact and observe until the owner arrives.
bullysu
Very positive sighting this morning, 8.45 am seen in someones back garden in Alfriston rd, reacted to her name when called, then ran away, down the alley to West Dean Rise, many people have been searching around that area but need a new sighting
Maty
Spotted in a garden in Alfriston Road at 8.45 & responded to her name. Owner on route

Thanks to all for your comments.
Well done Maty and great to hear posters are up.
Kathleen, that sounds interesting as dogs will often go to quiet places when they have run off. I'm too far away to help but will be thinking of you at first light. If it's raining please make sure you check anywhere that Schnapps could shelter like sheds, outbuildings, under bushes/undergrowth etc. Well done letting the vineyard know. You are
doing everything right and I'm really hoping that you get Schnapps home soon.
Nina, yes all the things that you have suggested were in the advice email that I sent out when Schnapps was first lost.

Owner have you been given scenting advice ie leaving a trail of old clothing with your scent on cut into small pieces. or leaving a 'pee trail' both back to your home
Kathleen
Certainly a whistle. A squeaky toy maybe not so much but at least she'd hear it!
DogLostNina
would she respond to a squeaky toy or a whistle
Kathleen
Rathfinney Vinyards have been notified
Kathleen
We were told barking had been heard in the west side of High and over. We were there until it was dark and did think we may be onto something, but the dark beat us. I have received a phone call to say a lady saw something grey behind the 'posh ' golf course' towards the Rathfinney vineyards. We will be up there first light tomorrow if anyone wished to help x

So sorry to see Schnapps is missing. I have just sent you our Doglost email advice. I'm pleased to see that there has been a sighting already.
Please make sure there is a way for Schnapps to get back into your garden when she returns.
I would also suggest that you get as many posters as possible up all around the area. This is the very best way of getting sightings of Schnapps.
Please keep us updated on this page as to how your search is going and of any new sightings.
Best of luck with your search.
