I call dogs 'it' all the time.. Pretty sure it doesn't make me a bad owner.
Judylittle4paws, I would contact the council involved, ask what their rehoming policy is, who to contact etc.

Judy - if you mean by ‘it’ the little Male dog that was found - Hounslow chuck answered an FOI question Ref kennels used. Not sure if up to date but their reply
“The London Borough of Hounslow has its own dog kennelling facilities which are managed
by our Animal Control Service. These facilities are based at Bridge Road Depot, Pears
Road, Hounslow, TW3 1SQ. As they are directly owned and managed by us they are not
subject to any inspection regime.

In addition to this we occasionally use a local, licensed boarding kennel for any overflow
facilities that we may need. This is Silverdale Boarding Kennels and Cattery, Bedfont Road,
Feltham, TW14 8EE. The premises are subject to an annual inspection as part of the
licensing process (Animal Boarding Establishments Act 1963).

Stray dogs received by the London Borough of Hounslow are placed on the intake list for
admission to Battersea Dogs and Cats Home at 4 Battersea Park Road, London SW8 4AA
in order to go into rescue if unclaimed. Occasionally they will admit dogs within the statutory
7 clear day holding period. They will then keep the dogs available for re-claim for the
balance of that period on our behalf. They are not subjected to any formal inspection
regime by us. ”

As an aside - I’d never rehome a dog to anyone who referred to an animal as an “it”.
Nina - Ness - I’m not saying using the word makes anyone a bad owner - I’m saying I wouldn’t rehome to anyone who used the word. My choice. Last edited: 2018-01-22 13:17:38 by SimonH
