Hi bigbirdy, hope all is going OK for you, any leads on Socks? Did you check out the link I left about Bailey at Plantation? Willing this little one home to ASAP xxxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

bigbirdy, you are doing brilliantly in your search for Socks. There is one avenue I would take if my dog was missing. I deliver the Merseymart which is a free local paper in Liverpool, Merseyside. Each week there are lots of leaflets to be delivered with it. It may worth getting some of the small posters printed and paying to get them delivered with what ever free local paper is delivered in the areas you want to target. Or approach a company that just do leaflet deliveries. If you could not go the direct route to paper, then try and find out who actually delivers the paper etc and give them say ?5.00. Hope this helps and everyone is rooting for Socks to come home and go into the BLUE. If you need any further advice on the leaflet distribution just send me a p.m. Jan x Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi bigbirdy - reason I was asking whether Socks had a white chest was because of this link http://plantationboardingkennels.com/_wsn/page6.html Bailey the female lurcher is about the right age for Socks, not a million miles away near York, and that thin little white line down her face looks a bit familiar. Good luck, thinking of you both xxxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

As you say someone knows something and all of a sudden the penny will that the little dog they saw with 'whoever' is the one on the posters and bingo! Hopefully that will be very soon. By the way bigbirdy, does Socks have any white on her chest or just her feet, tail and that little stripe down her nose? My thoughts are with you bigbirdy xxxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi Bigbirdy Been along to the travellers site but unfortunately no sign of Socks or any other dogs. Good that you're still positive about finding her - check out Doris the Westie's page, she was reunited (23/10/07) after 14 months! Gives us all a bit of hope doesn't it. Will keep you and Socks in my thoughts xxxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Were there any travellers in your area when Socks went missing? There are some that have just moved into an area not far from me with the fun fair. I will try and have a look if they've got any dogs next time I go past. Was she wearing a collar that might be recognisable?Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I am from your area so I will keep a look out for him. I'm sorry I would put some posters up for you but I move house in two days and then I go on holiday, but if it's any help my dog went missing and I went round all the camps and basically was a pain in the arse but he just seemed to re-appear after a week. I also know of someone at Bishop who's lircher went missing only last week and the gypsies had him and wanted three hundred pound for it back cos they reckoned it had attacked one of there dogs, but don't be scared of them be polite but persistent. Get as many kids involved in lookin for him and put the posters up in schools and next to cash machines, all kids go to school and all adults use cash machines . Hope you get him back xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Sorry I am in the South so cant help with postering but our experience here says you need to make Socks Too HOT to Handle, loads of posters everywhere - especially near travellers sites and shops used by travellers. Wishing you home soon Socks...stay safe little one.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

As soon as Admin receives a photograph, the poster will be emailed out to helpers. Posters need to be displayed as soon as possible on notice boards, lamp posts, entrances to parks, dog bins and on cars. Take posters to vets, pet shops, libraries, postmen (for sorting offices), milkmen, dustmen, street cleaners, taxi drivers, schools, pubs, youth clubs, newsagents, post offices, takeaways, dog training clubs, supermarkets and car parks. Hand out reduced-down posters or cards to people - especially dog walkers - and deliver to houses and businesses. Police stations, Dog Wardens, the RSPCA and all rescue centres need checking frequently and preferably visited in person by owner or someone who knows Socks well. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
