Does anybody have an update on where this dog is please. What did Ben the finder do with it or who did he unlawfully pass it on to? A total mystery and disgusting on his part when distressed families who are looking for their look alike GSD are denied access to eliminate. I have also left messages for the reporter who covered it in the walsall paper and he ignored me. Does anybody else have news?

There was a further press story by same reporter which was uploaded by Ben immediately after the last update. However he deleted it within seconds. The articles headline is "Alice settling into new home" and reports "A Walsall student who rescued an 'afraid andmalnourished abandoned dog has decided to keep her as a pet" it goes onto say "she is going to stay with me or at least within the family" Ben headed that post with "The vet said that Alice had experienced years of neglect and abuse and was covered in bruises. So im delighted she has been given a second chance to be loved and cared for by friends of mine. Im Sure ill get to see her lots as well". Due to the allegations of prolonged abuse RSPCA need to know where this dog is to act and have asked to be kept informed (there is an incident ref no) I think it is now clear this dog should be assumed as STOLEN ..Theft by finding...

I spoke to Sunnyside dog kennels yesterday and was informed no GSDs had been brought in. I have again checked the information from neiltarp and was told it was a carcausion shepherd dog that was brought in over the weekend which has been claimed by its owner. A GSD was to be brought in yesterday to be surrendered by its owner but wasnt, however this was not a found one but a surrender by current owner. The dog is also not in the possession of the RSPCA they confirmed their only involvement was a phone call to attend at the canal but when they attended the dog had been taken hence any allegation made of prolonged long term abuse is questionable. Where is this dog?

Still lots of confusion as to whether this dog is now with & under the care of the Warden at Walsall. Ambers owners phoned yesterday & were directed to contact Sunnyside Dog Kennels who said they had a young c2 year old GSD in over the weekend but it was chipped and registered to a foreign address which could indicate it may be a rescue from abroad which has escaped. Strange that Bens find wasn't chipped. Does anyone know Ben to check where his dog "Alice" is now? Or does anyone know the Dog Warden at Walsall to verify?

Region altered, thanks redmonkey

Walsall is in the West Midlands so should be under Central, not North West.

I think maybe Ben is just trying to protect the dog from anymore harm from anyone and to stop someone getting the dog back to be abused again.
He clearly looked like a very nice lad and he is probably very scared for that lovely dog
Lots of people would turn a blind eye
Ben did not he rescued this dog please do not forget this small item

As this dog was found right by the canal side with collar and lead, it is possible the owner of this dog could have fallen/slipped into the canal! or the dog slipped/fallen in and owner gone in after it but only the dog managed to get out!?

This dog was rescued from the canal Bank in Walsall and taken home by a man called Ben Brittain. The RSPCA had been called but the dog had been taken by the time they arrived. The dog was scanned by a local called Helen Bird (who used to work with K9Search)where its said no chip was found and Ben was provided with dog wardens details and explained what he should do. Information has been very unclear as initially Ben referred to this dog as Alfie but a day or two later Alice, he gave stories to the Walsall Express & Star about his rescue stating this dog had been abandoned, was abused, indcated he was now keeping her and had contacted the Dog Warden. Valid Concerns were raised by many that Ben was not adhering to legal requirements along with others stating he was a hero and should keep the dog. Many commented that this could be a missing or stolen dog who had an owner. Many Concerns were raised about his non failure to notify dog warden (who appeared to know about the dog from local press but had not spoken to Ben) Ben gave four different explanations about not contacting the Dog Warden, despite repeated requests had not registered this dog on any lost/found website, nor make efforts to find an owner. He did respond to some people enquiring it maybe their missing dog and supplied some photos but concerns continued to be raised and upset caused to many desperate owners looking for their missing dog. Information then was posted on newspapers F/b page stating another man (a chef at the Hungry House on waterfront) in fact rescued this dog hence raising more concern as to integrity (and attention). There have also been comments made on Bens profile/news stories that this dog was severely abused and RSPCA involved however the dog was not taken by the RSPCA to preserve evidence and treat. Ambers owners have desperately tried to see this dog as they believe it bears a very strong resemblence to Amber but Ben has ceased communication. Another owner of an unchipped dog missing in the area called Bonnie has also attempted to try and rule this dog out with the same problems. Ben only appears to reply to friends congratulating him on rescuing this dog... The last update and communication from Ben on his profile states "update on Alice...She is now with a trusted friend being taken care of. Should anyone think this is their dog I'd advise them to contact Walsall Council and the local dog warden. Please go through official channels to ensure clarity and not persist with social media contact.." he then states he left a message for the DW to contact him and difficulties at work. He continues "The Friend that is presently caring for Alice in the 28 day period will chase up the dog warden to make sure they have a chat through the process despite them already aware..." Its then stated by someone who indicates they know Ben, where clarity was sought but not forthcoming that this dog has seen a vet. £500 work has been done & the vet stated this dog has been abused over a long period of time, had abcesses removed & has got to have lots of work carried out, if the abuser wants to claim her to contact the dog warden & foot the bill. This person then states Ben doesnt even know where the dog is. Clearly concerns continue to be raised and there have been no clear answers. It was very clearly pointed out that a finder cannot pass the dog to a third party & the 28 days is at the agreement and consent of the DW. Legal requirements have been repeated by many along with criminal offence implications of theft. Many concerns continue and nobody knows where this dog is now or who this third party is (a trusted friend?) & whether the welfare oLast edited: 2017-01-15 23:15:50 by Abbie Girl
