Dobby's Mum
Update on Dobby: He's been back for two days now and has settled back down very well, still eating everything in sight but apart from that you'd never even guess!

Dobby's Mum
It took ages to get that photo and he's still not looking at the camera! Sorry I didn't reply sooner to the homecoming comments, only just realised that my iPad isn't recognising my gmail where the alerts come through to. Thank you for all your support and hard work to get him home again. He's still very hungry but other than that he's fine! Right now he's on his bed with his octopus toy while waiting for some scrambled egg to cool :)

Soooo pleased! Well done all especially the farmer x

If it is basket muzzle type, they can eat and drink through it but can't kill!
cockerspaniellover
That is incredible news, I have been so worried as I am with all lost dogs but because he couldn't eat if he found something because of the muzzle xx So happy for you all, please keep safe from now on Dobby and if you can a lovely reunited picture would be great xx
ClaireC
Absolutely delighted to read he is safely back home. Please give some further thought to using 2 leads or lead and a harness just in case he decides to exercise his legs again!

Dobby's Mum
FOUND HIM!!!! In the woods behind cold harbour farm. Muzzle still on, coat still on, bit skinny but only his feet are muddy. The farmer saw him on the field and called us. We think he may have slept in the barns as he's in quite good condition apart from being a bit skinny. Eaten his food, had a drink and lots of fuss. THANK YOU SO MUCH EVERYONE, we are truly amazed, and bowled over by all the communities, and touched at how everyone has helped. He's only been back 15 mins and he's laying on his bed with a chew - happy days! Please share this everywhere so everyone knows - and thank you again!!!
ClaireC
Have just spoken to Jenny (Tiga) she is out searching for another dog at the moment. When she is back she will try and make contact with you. Very probably this will be later today/evening.
ClaireC
I will try and get hold hold of Jenny and Tiga who are trackers and ask if she can give you a ring
Dobby's Mum
Thank you. I'm putting word out on social media and of course will go out myself with posters too. Bin day was Wednesday.
ClaireC
The more people are made aware the more chance of reporting sightings. Put some posters up around schools in area as kids are very good at spotting lost dogs. Poster in all busy places. Ask any pubs to keep an eye around their bin areas.when is dustbin day? Also ask if there are folk who have a greyhound that will walk with you searching.Last edited: 2017-01-20 11:39:14 by ClaireC
Dobby's Mum
Yes, we were just saying that he could be so frightened he's just waiting to be found but he should be very hungry right now so that might mean he'll be willing to approach people. Got lots of people circulating the info to farmers etc, spoken to some local companies too like Taplins.

Yes he's in an unfamiliar area, we only rescued him on Saturday :(

I think you need to check the quietest of places near there ie Dorton churchyard, ask farmers to check their barns. Greyhounds can curl up in the smallest of places.( Ive posted this on fb as well.) there are a few companies located nearby, if you can notify them by email, phone call but also email a poster to them as well they might make delivery/visitors aware.Last edited: 2017-01-20 10:16:42 by ClaireC
ClaireC
Somebody said youve not long rescued him, in that case is he unfamiliar with area?
Dobby's Mum
Brill common but was last seen on Wotton Rd in the direction of Wotton and Dorton.
ClaireC
Probably wasnt picked up. Where exactly did he run off from?
Dobby's Mum
Probably not then as this was Wednesday at 5.30/5.45pm and as he's microchipped we would have been contacted by now :(
ClaireC
Yes may have picked up but hopefully to keep safe overnight! He hopefully if he has caught will take to a vet when open.
Dobby's Mum
Just got this as a FB message. It's the person that saw Dobby after he'd run off, and the last person to have seen him.

Any advice please? Surely no-one would steal the newly escaped dog that's running madly would they? There would be far easier ways to steal a dog surely. Thank you

Hi kate, Just had a thought about something and probably not that helpful, but I wonder if he has been stolen???? I have been thinking back to when I last saw Dobbie and there was a car behind me that pulled in to where he ran up the road. It put its hazards on and stopped. I then assumed that they might be the owner, so I carried on, picked my son up from school and then came back to look for the dog with him. And then he was gone. Just a thought - it was dual and so I didn't see what the car was, but I think it was white?? Last edited: 2017-01-20 08:38:45 by Dobby's Mum

Is there anybody else in the area with a greyhound that wwould go out with owner to help search? Somebody has reminded me of this. Also put on mix96 website. Poster give to local delivery drivers ie tesco, florists, postmen etc. Fences near popular dog walks ie Brill common
Windmill etc. Make farmers aware but also tell them he is muzzled.
Dobby's Mum
Brilliant, thank you. Yes, SDK run the services in our area so phoned them, they update their website throughout the day.
