- thanks indeed to the police - who have the powers - but its thanks to doglost for having such a brilliant relationship with the police who were willing to listen to doglost which enables them to know what to look for when stolen/missing dogs are involved. brilliant teamwork with yet another happy ending

- I very much agree with the suggestions by stoppettheft and janiejewel1649. I live in France and they found the biggest animal trafficking ring near Montpellier run by travellers. A woman lost her two boxers the gendarmes didn't do anything so she very bravely went in on her own (and at the same time the local police arrived) and found them in bad condition but she found them and got them out. I think they made full recoveries. People shouldn't be allowed to get away with such things.

- She did indeed have her microchip dug out. It mus have been agony for her. She was found at a travellers site too. I hope someone will be called to account for this vile act of cruelty. As well as being charged with theft, they should be charged with animnal abuse. The punshment should fit the crime. She is gorgeous isn`t she? Very photogenic. Sending my best wishes to he owners.

- The Daily Mail were supposed to be running a bit on Isla over the weekend. I had a quick peep at a copy in the Co-op but couldn't see anything !

- It's not right to put blame because a dog is kept in a kennel.
Homes get broken into to steal these dogs too and many kennels are luxurious and more secure than most houses. It plain and simply is that not all dogs like to be indoors especially in a busy house.

- Well said CJ.....all of you email your MP's please! and ask if they will be attending...and send us those that except so we can chase them up....

- Whilst it is brilliant news and Kent Police are great acting on seizing dogs- we have to remember that finding a dog does not prove in court they took a dog. They could state a dog was bought from another person - and they had no knowledge of anyone removing a chip even though in reality it was more than likely them.
To take this to court the police need to produce evidence and proof - if not the CPS just say no!! This is what all Police have to contend with and are as frustrated as we are.
If the chipping law had been thought through properly - make a microchip PROVE ownership - and in a similar way to a car with the DVLA if you sell on or pass on then a form MUST be signed by the seller-
Dog theft is a terrible crime and we need to goverment to impose tougher sentences.
HELP THIS HAPPEN-
On 14 March DogLost and the Stolen and Missing Pets Alliance will be in Parliament meeting MPs for Dog Theft Awareness Day. We’ll be telling MPs why their support is vital in tackling the growing crime of dog theft. We need as many MPs to attend as possible, can you help us by asking your MP to join us on the day? - 2017-02-03 00:26 #stoppettheft
- Such a dramatic change in 14 days :(
******s to cause Her Such pain in removing Her 'chip & causing Her Family so much pain by Stealing
I wish ALL Police Forces would raid ALL traveller Sites & check the Dogs for 'chips /unusual activity &/or take photos of them & check against Missing Dogs Database
Sooo Glad Isla is Safe & that She soon recovers from her ordeal .(& Her Owners too )
Now we just need Coco, Poppy, Pup, Fern & soo many others to be Found - 2017-02-02 23:43 Sherlock- Area Co-ordinator & Police Liaison - Avon & South Gloucestersh

- 2017-02-02 16:44 Skywalker99
- Agreed...sounds like a very organised operation too if they are removing chips. You would only guess this might be Isla from the eyes. I bet she is happy to be home! Hopoe she will be kept inside form now on.Last edited: 2017-02-02 16:44:48 by Skywalker99

- How on earth do they cut the chip out when it's as small as a grain of rice :-( This is so worrying for the many missing dogs out there who are microchipped, how many have been found and missed being reunited due to the same reason
- 2017-02-02 16:17 JulieH
- Well done Kent Police! Welcome home Isla ,hope your lovely coat soon grows back x

- Brilliant work by Kent Police and CJ. Welcome back to your rightful home. Xx
- 2017-02-02 15:03 Kit'sMum
- Yes, this is an amazing story, but it's very worrying that the chip had been cut out, I suppose thieves think no-one will notice the incision as the hair grows back? I hope many people see this post and the importance of having new dogs thoroughly checked all over. Hats off to everyone involved with getting Isla back to her family.
- 2017-02-02 13:57 Sandra Watt
- OMG what an amazing story and thanks to Kent Police and CJ. It's just awful that these thieves removed the microchip and changed Isla's appearance. So happy that Isla is back with her family.
- 2017-02-02 13:53 Jen
- So delighted that Isla is back home and thank each and everyone of you for all your help and support. We really thought we might never see her again and as her chip had been removed this may well have been the case. Thank goodness for her funny leg!
- 2017-02-02 13:53 CJ - Police Liaison & SE Regional Coordinator
- Yes poor Isla was shaved and a small cut was seen on her neck glue back with superglue- as no chip was fond presume it was removed.Awaiting a photo taken by Kent police but 2nd photo shows the first one sent to me for ID purposes.
- 2017-02-02 13:41 Unknown
- I just read online the chip had been cut out. Shocking, what is the world coming too. Well done again CJ
- 2017-02-02 13:38 Jayne - Founder Doglost.
- well done kent police and CJ for making it now normal practise when they are out on another matter to check our stolen dog list against dogs they see...this was done this morning as police convinced it was Isla as she ran funnily as in owners description. They scanned for a chip but none found...and despite she had been shorn so much as unrecognisable they contacted us...we had to wait for owner to visit before we could switch to reunited. Sadly the chip had been cut out...so without the chip it was highly unlikely she would have returned home..thank god for kent police and Police co-ordinators!!!!

- Great news as had an early call from Kent Police - after a warrant was executed they seized a dog they felt was ISLA.
Owners contacted and came to view her and confirmed it was her. She had a close hair cut maybe to disguise her.
Needs a trip to vets as the microchip did not show up. - 2017-01-28 10:58 Molliemoo

- Hi, I saw a red/brown cocker spaniel on the tube yesterday 20th Feb. Was on the Central line to Loughton, approx 10.45 between Stratford and Loughton. The dog was with large man wearing shorts. The dog was barking and the man had difficulties quietening it. He got offf train and sat with the dog waiting for another train, I'm unsure which station it was, but prob was Snaresbrook, South Woodford or Woodford. I watched them as it made me feel uneasy, I don't know if this is any help, or if it can be checked out

- Hi Jen, if you haven't already done so, best to email the CRN to admin@doglost.co.uk so they can upgrade the status to stolen.
Until Admin get a chance to look at it, you could change the name to ISLA Stolen.Last edited: 2017-01-20 18:40:09 by Mary - 2017-01-20 18:15 Jen
- Yes we have a crime number from the Police. Also contacting the Police who found the stolen cockers in Wateringbury which is near to where she was taken. Have logged it with the dog wardens too. It has gone out on FB and subsequently on various gundog sites. Contacted local vets and will contact the local rescue homes in case she is taken there. Thank you everyone for all your shares and help. Much appreciated x
