A very late note to say that we now have a possible sighting (from a car, hence the 'possible') by PaulaK of JRT A just to the south of Chertsey Bridge on 6th Dec. She was being walked with a dog that may be JRT B. PaulaK has been out that way and kindly put some posters up. This fits with the earlier possible sighting in New Haw, which lies on the same road as the approach to the bridge. This is encouraging helps motivate me to keep up with the poster maintenance locally (Woodham and Camphill tommorrow). We are currently waiting on permission from JRT Bs owner to put the dogs names on the posters.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Thanks for your help Jan. Went out again yesterday with sbt replacing damaged posters and adding more. As we all know so well it only takes one person to see one poster in the right place to find a missing dog. Lets hope we get some calls very soon. Stay safe girls we are all looking for you xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I have had information, admittedly second hand, that only ONE Jack Russel is permanently resident in the area that Laura saw the two lads with TWO. According to the Nephew of the owner of the single JRT she said that the two lads were nothing to do with her. So please 'keep em peeled' in that area.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Unfortunately the found JRT, as is obvious from the photo that is up now, isn't JRT A :( I hope the new 'foundling' and her future pups get home safely and soon.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

A long shot but Karl is phoning in for details of Dog ID=11412 as apart from the 'pregnant' bit (shes spayed) it sounds very like JRT A. Its worth a check just in case the 'pregnant' is a mistake.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Have talked to Karl and it definitely doesn't sound like one of these two. There is now a specific reward for the return of these two, UKP 600 for the return of both, UKP 300 for one. Can this be changed on the posters please?Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

The Halewood sighting doesn't sound like JRT B (JRT A has a docked tail) as she didn't have any scars when she went missing. Both dogs are predominantly white. Karl sometimes can't be raised due to working as a Carpenter and not hearing the phone but he does return calls when he sees them. In cases where an urgent response is required and Karl can't be raised please use my numbers below.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

We have a possible sighting. Friday 2nd, c. 5pm. Two JRTs being walked by two lads between the White Lion Pub and Wyvale Garden Centre in New Haw. ID not positive as Laura was driving past but one looked very like one of ours. I will be going over there to check posters are still up this afternoon. Thanks LauraMC.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

sbt - I didnt mention as I didnt think it fitted description of either A or B very well - a phone call to check description is accurate would be a bad idea though.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

No, the report hasn't. Thanks for pointing it out! I have a look at exactly where this would be at the moment. I will also pop over and talk to Karl and get him to call the finder for more details. JRT A has a docked tail so it would be B (Dog ID=11057) if either of them and 'Mainly Black and Tan' doesn't fit her (or A). Does this fit Dog ID=10608 better? Ockley is as close as West Byfleet to the sighting. Recommendations for action to take from the more experienced would be appreciated.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Will do so. Also 'Trouble' the Staffy who came home yesterday after being out of sight for a month. A month seems fairly typical - is there some psychological feeling amongst the people who hold on to these dogs that people will have stopped looking after that long? Now looking at adverts in Surrey Advertiser, Woking News & Mail etc. but will need Karls Ok for that.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Are there people who could get posters to the following places please? Unfortunately I'm effectively out of contact (can't access DL for example) whilst at work and Karl has no Internet access so could you phone him on the number on the poster if you do. Basingstoke Canal Authority, Mychett // National Trust, Wey Navigation, Dapdune Wharf, Guildford // Guildford Boat House, Millbrook, Guildford // Farncombe Boat House, Catteshall Road, Farncombe, Godalming. I'm asking Karl (best it come from owner) to phone these, if he hasn't already, and Ok an email of posters but a physical stack of posters would be better. I'll be contacting the volunteers who work on the Basigstoke Canal myself.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I'll check on the local Navigation Authorities (BCA and NT), they should have been alerted but I'll double check. Whilst we have postered the banks Marinas haven't been done - I'll get on it, there only two or three relevant as not much traffic moves onto the Wey from the Thames and we have seen one boat in the last month onto the Basingstoke. Posters are also going to a local computer support firm my brother works for to alert their travelling engineers.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Karl has checked Guildford and Elmbridge Dog Wardens today as the respective boundaries are fairly close to us. We are now, I think, into 'wait and see' whilst we maintain the posters. I'll take a wander down the local likely spots every night just in case. The level of help Karl is receiving, with regard to the postering and the 'possible' at Binfield has overwhelmed him. Thank you whoever phoned (the name didn't get to me) with an offer of a lift to Binfield for Karl. He quoted the reaction from a colleague 'I wouldn't have expected this amount of help if it had been one of my kids that had gone missing'. Thank you PaulaK, downey72, BonBon, mandyandmutts, everybody else who has helped and is helping and of course Jayne for running this.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Well done everyone. Goes without saying that lockkeepers have been alerted? Also local boat hire and marinas, even back along the canal? Other boat users will take on posters and display in windows, two should be given out, one each side of the boat. PaulaK thanks for your local help and advise while I have been away. Call me if you need any back up. Sue xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Saw your posters at the fair - thanks. Went to the RSPCA - no female russells jrt's on show at all. Put posters up in the Park at New Haw (Parkside) and spoke to park warden who will keep his eyes open. Also put colour posters at the entrance to mobile home park in New Haw. Have spent this morning out with Jenny and her son (our keenest youngest new helper - thanks!). Postered Byfleet shops and down Mill Lane towards river. Also went to Ind. Estate next to fair and canal, squires on the road to Addlestone and dog training class behind Mouchel West Byfleet. Checked posters are still up at Sheerwater end of canal and put some more (colour) posters up at car park for Horsell common. Spoke to some builders in Byfleet at 2 sites and gave them posters. Jenny has roped in some more local helpers and they are going on a late walk along canal tonight. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I don't think Addlestone itself has been done yet - I only got as far north as Moated Farm Drive. There are still gaps locally so today's target for me is West Byfleet and a few more posters where kids from the local school gather - they go places adults generally don't. Hope to catch owner of JRT B today as she's down on the moorings ATM and has been lead on checking the local pounds etc and the need to visit in person etc needs emphasisingLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I've been away and have only just returned. I'm in KT13 so will poster Weybridge. I gather from earlier posts that Addlestone has been done. Please note that Weybridge, Addlestone and this whole area is in the middle of the protection zone for Foot & Mouth. DEFRA are visible on a daily basis testing cattle etc locally and as footpaths are officiallyl closed and dogs are meant to be kept on leads, I'm sure sooner or later this little lady will be picked up. I assume Bell Mead has been contacted as there are no dogwardens in this area and all stray dogs are taken there in Runnymede. Good luck.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Might be worth putting one in the large garden centre in the road that goes away from the canal bridge roundabout towards Addlestone - lots of people will visit there this weekend (the one with the pick-your-own) and a pub nearby. There's the small industrial estate next to where the fair currently is - the end place that does worktops for kitchens has a resident old dog and they would notice if there were two extras around!! Lots of little hiding out places in there too and people to play with! Also tescos, tescos garage and M&S, New Haw & Byfleet station - lots of people coming back on a Friday evening. Then you have all the other industrial units going towards tescos under the railway bridge - they must back on eventually to the canal?? I'm committed the next two days but Sunday is free if you need further help!!! Paula has my contact numbers...Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I've just got back after exhausting the stock of plastic wallets - I'll arrange for more tomorrow. Have postered bottom end of New Haw heavily and all along Woodham Lane to the shopping area in Woodham which is well and truly postered. Also reinforced posters down canal by Camphill Tip which is a popular dog walking area and the place they were previously found. Will do more tomorrow night and Saturday. Managed to get posters up outside West Byfleet park, and some in Byfleet this afternoon. Rosemount vets has colour posters as well as black and white now (thanks sandobes). No calls today to owner but urgently need more posters up around New Haw (SBT Karl said you may be able to do some tonight?) I cant get out this evening. If you put some up can you post on here where they are so I can focus on other areas. I probably wont have time tomorrow but should be able to get out Saturday..... just aware of time ticking by. Posters need to be displayed as soon as possible on notice boards, lamp posts, entrances to parks, dog bins and on cars. Take posters to vets, pet shops, postmen (for sorting offices), milkmen, dustmen, street cleaners, taxi drivers, schools, pubs, youth clubs, newsagents, post offices, takeaways, dog training clubs, supermarkets and car parks. Hand out reduced-down posters or cards to people - especially dog walkers - and deliver to houses and businesses. Police stations, Dog Wardens, the RSPCA and all rescue centres need checking frequently and preferably visited in person by owner or someone who knows the dog well well. Stay safe little girl, until you are home x Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Slight misinterpretation of a long EMail - the 'day' number is only for cases if DogLost wants to contact the owner and can't get through. Its mine, not the owners. All reports should go to the 07811 107834 number. I'm the owners neighbour, Rick. The owner Karl has no Internet access so I passed the info on for him. Another neighbour who can pass messages more quickly should be along later today. Karl is wary of publicising the dogs names, hence JRT A and JRT B. He, and his ex (JRT B's owner) have done many of the things usually advised here, postering locally, contacting the Dog Wardens, local Railway staff, the local Vet etc. I will check with regard to police and some of the other ideas. When these two have wandered previously they have turned up on the waste ground behind Camphill Industrial Estate in West Byfleet. This was checked but probably should be again. Many thanks for getting the posters out so quickly.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
