I've just had the most adorable reunited photos of Cosmo which I have added to the page (please refresh/reload to see them!)
I know tomscriv feared the worst but he searched regardless and had his happy ending. Just shows, once again, how resilient dogs can be regardless of the breed! Cosmo has been to the vet and hopefully his swollen leg will heal soon.
Lovely to see him so warm and snuggled up with his brother!

Great news!! 😁 And never a more true statement 'never give up' no matter how low you feel. So glad he is home safe and sound. Lots of tlc and treats and I'm sure he will be fine. No more trusting cosmos on big adventures as that could have ended so differently xxxx

I'm so relieved that you have found Cosmo. Poor lad getting caught up in the fencing but thank goodness it was chicken wire and not barbed wire which may have caused a nasty injury. Cosmo is one lucky lad to have such a sensible family who did everything right from the moment he was lost. You did a great job searching for him, well done!
Welcome home Cosmo and make the most of the extra tlc that your family will be giving you!

thank you to everyone for your amazing support. I found him safe and well this morning, very shaken and caught up in some chicken wire fencing. He was spotted on the road near the wood where we lost him. I had been in the wood calling him since 6am and he was obviously making his way back. Thanks again, and the advice to never give up is never more true. i thought i would never see him again but he survived a terrible night out in the wind and rain.

My friends whippet did this a year ago and walked round in a circle about a 10 mile radius. There were no sightings for over a week, until.he was spotted outside MacDonald's. She used K9 Tracker to help find her whippet. Good luck, we've all paws and fingers crossed down here for your whippet.

still no sign of him this morning. I am going out to comb the woodland where he was last seen again now.

Thanks for all the advice so far. He is still missing and no reported sightings of him by anyone. Its incredible out of character for him not to come back to the whistle, so i am worried he is in the wood somewhere and injured. I have left a covered dog crate with one of my unwashed shirts in the wood this evening. I intend to go back at first light and try and retrace steps from where i saw him last. I will keep you updated and tomorrow we will try other avenues and poster the local area.

Thanks Julie, not sure we how many helpers we have in this area so that's really good of you. Hopefully Cosmo will be holed up in this rain and then makehis own way home when it stops.
tomscriv: let us have an update on how your search is going please.
It's always possible that someone has found Cosmo already and taken him in to safety. Some people do not know that our Dog Wardens are 7 day service and will only report finding a dog in the morning or take them to a vet to check for a microchip. However, I'm still hoping he will be home by the morning. If not, please get as many posters up in the area as possible so locals are aware that he is missing. The more posters the better as that's the way that you will get sightings coming in.

I've just spoken with tomscriv and I've also sent our Doglost advice emails out to him. Cosmo is in an area he know very well and is also not far from his home. Tom says it's unusual for Cosmo not to come back for so long so I have advised to leave bedding/unwashed items near where Cosmo was lost so that he has a familiar scent to head for. Tom will also leave some bedding at his home as I have explained that a lot of dogs will head for home if they can and it will often be in the early hours.
I have also suggested taking one of his other dogs on a lead and to try to get it excited enough to bark so that Cosmo will respond/come back to him when he hears his pal.
Well done for doing everything I've suggested Tom. I've everything crossed that Cosmo will be back home with you very soon. Very best of luck with your search.
