- Claire C, you were right! i can see it just fine on my laptop :)
What a day! An absolutely fantastic team to work with and the perfect owners - quite simply Nat & Ben could not have done more to get Maya home and followed every bit of advice given to them. 100% committed. Following on from Yogi and Jennys wonderful efforts yesterday, The team today were absolutely amazing-all coordinated at lightning speed via messenger and phones, getting in and out of position around Willington/Moggerhanger to observe her as the sightings came in.They managed to keep her in view more or less the whole time until she was caught. Also huge thanks to Derek who called the sighting in allowing the team to mobilize and get in the right places strategically, one of the local farmers (Gavin)- who Nat phoned, and as she was talking to him about Maya heading his way- Maya passed his window.
What an amazing group effort Nat, Ben, Jenny (& Yogi), Sue, Susan, Linda, Michelle, Jane T, Ryan,Kaye, Richard & everyone else who helped :) - 2017-02-03 18:45 Millypod (Chris) - Administrative Volunteer

- Can I say the reunited photo is of Maya contained safely just after being caught until owner arrived a few minutes later.

- Great result and well done Jenny and Yogi and all involved.
- 2017-02-03 14:29 Jenny & Tiga k9tracker
- Wow - what an amazing outcome! Just to show how far this racing whippet travelled! Yesterday I took Yogi to track and we started at the last sighting 36 hours before - for those that have had Yogi tracking will understand he goes quick. For 7 hours Yogi tracked Maya non stop at Yogi's pace. We covered well over 20 miles before finally calling it a night last night at a point where Yogi wanted to go right. This morning we had a call saying Maya was seen in a garden 200 metres from this point.

- Lots going on and progress has been made. Sorry for the lack of updates but everyone is working really hard behind the scenes and out on the ground. We have quite a few offers of help which we are really appreciative of. I will let Jenny update when she is able.

- Cockerspaniellover - you were 100% correct in that I was desperately trying to get people not to chase but I wasn't asking for any helpers to sit on the route. It was just your 15.00 post on here that wasn't from me. Your help is appreciated.
Mel - we have a local lady with 2 whippets who is walking them around.
There were a number of sightings today but as usual human nature stepped in as well as a gas bird scarer.
- 2017-01-31 22:03 Mel
- Just a thought, but are there any whippet or sight hound owners able to join the search? My daughter's whipper loves and always wants to play with her own breed. Hope she is home soon. Xxx
- 2017-01-31 21:24 cockerspaniellover
- I give in - it was being said to not chase etc as everyone still seemed to be, so to be a help as a dog lover and a concerned dog lover for Maya I put it on here. That was wrong! Then someone put a comment on the find Maya fb page about a lady called jo ex police helping as a coordinator so I welcomed her thinking it was agreed - that was wrong also. So I wish the family all the luck in the world finding Maya but I won't be commenting or helping (or not) anymore xx good luck
- 2017-01-31 21:08 Jenny & Tiga k9tracker
- Cockerspaniellover - actually that wasn't my advice.
- 2017-01-31 19:09 NatalieMAYAwhippet
- Hi, I'm the owner, Nat. Maya is still missing, but we know roughly what area she is in.
I wanted to clarify, since people are obviously seeing this poster, that YOU MUST NOT APPROACH OR CALL MAYA. She is running from anyone that comes near her, but is clearly trying to find her way home. If you see her and would like to help then let us know where, what time and which direction she is travelling. She is a racing whippet and can reach 25-30mph in just a few paces - you will not be able to catch her, and may drive her further away, or into a busy road as has already happened.
Please get in touch with the number above as soon as she is sighted, but do not try to catch her. Please do not try to feed her, if she is hungry she will try to get home, otherwise she'll carry on hiding.
Our best hope is to let her come to us, which she will in her own time. We are leaving scent trails for her by walking routes we know she has been sighted or we know she will try to get to, which lead back to where we are staying.
Thanks for all your supportLast edited: 2017-01-31 19:13:24 by NatalieMAYAwhippet - 2017-01-31 18:46 Sharon - Social Media Volunteer

- Cockerspaniellover please let the coordinator give the advice. This is what area coordinators are for. As previously stated too many different opinions get confusing. ESSJ is in touch with owner.

- ***** Any local helpers that can spare a couple of hours to just sit at points Maya has been seen and just observe and phone Natalie with sightings would be very helpful ****** ring above numbers if available to find out where needed

This girl is scared and we need to let her settle and watch from a far if possible xx Thank you all for helping, we are getting closer x She is going round in a triangle and following same route but is being scared and is running so PLEASE help is great and as many people that can help sight her is brilliant but once sighted please just phone Natalie straight away xx

- ESSJ is the coordinator for this area. Please leave the advice to the coordinator as it can get confusing with advice popping up from too many sources. Thank you. If you are local help would be appreciated. Last edited: 2017-01-31 08:46:40

- K9 Tracker would be useful in the spinney on the edge of the fields in Wood Lane. The scrub is very dense and appears to have derelict sheds where she may be sheltering.
- 2017-01-31 06:59 Unknown
- aw bless her , do hope you get a sighting today xx
- 2017-01-31 06:30 cockerspaniellover
- Owner and friend have been out looking for Maya all night on and off but so far no sightings. PLEASE- if you receive any sightings whatsoever can you immediately ring both numbers above as Natalie is beside herself and is confused where to start as previous poss sightings are quite a distance apart.
***** If you are local please, please, please spare some time today just to go down to the area lost and search either direction as we need to bring this girl home today SAFELY!! she is more respondent to women per post from rescue Natalie got her from and she is small for this type of dog (only around 9.9kg). If seen please DO NOT chase, just stand of sit still and call numbers above. Perhaps take very smelly treats to encourage her. Really hoping for good news today. I am too far away but anyone who can, please help as this owner is devastated and adores this girl xxxx Last edited: 2017-01-31 08:42:49 - 2017-01-30 22:42 Sue - onestopalldogs

- Searched the fields between A603 and Wood Lane opposite Frosts GC. Two Wood Lane residents have walked down Wood Lane towards the brook and Moggerhanger Park. Fields have spinney with impenetrable undergrowth, brambles etc. Several dilapidated sheds and scrap cars behind the garage. Sadly, no trace. Too dark to tackle Station Road and Barford Road tonight.

- Being injured & scared she will probably will be hiding somewhere out of sight.I hope she is found asap as Whippets do not have the coat or fat to be out in this weather. Fingers crossed for her .
