I think I will head more towards Tidebrook in the morning then. If anyone wants to join me I'll be walking about 8am. I may not be back on here again tonight but will be up early doors tomorrow.I agree Charlotte, there has been so much searching more locally with no luck that it's time to move a bit further away. Have you leaflet dropped the local farms by chance. There are just so many outbuildings for Daisy to shelter in it would be good if the farmers could check maybe?
Yogi, do you know many of the local farmers? If so, are you able to make contact with them to ask if they could check?
Sarah, I will send you a message on FB (probably tomorrow now) as I know from Gina that you are actively looking too.
Thanks again everyone👍
Charlotte
Great Idea to meet up Haytersharpe I can give out maps and we can work out a plan between us. What time suits?
Haytersharpe
Tonight - another 5.5 miles done....I went from where she was last seen, through first two fields and went left handed - I've followed the river bed around the fields and luckily for me ended up at Yogis farm (unsure of the name, but thank you yogi for saving me....was getting dark and I was a little bit frightened!) I then did hedgerows and stopped at every gateway from yogis farm down witherenden hill and back up swife lane - unfortunately darkness was against me 😞 will go out again tomorrow - is it worth us all meeting up - looking at a nap together and crossing off areas done....
Charlotte
Hi thank you all searchers I am so incredibly grateful for all of your time and efforts. It seems that lots of people have searched around Gilhope and Hawksden Park wood, The next logical area to search seems to be beyond that, to Combe wood and Hole wood, towards Mayfield and Tidebrook and also Wadhurst Park up towards Scrag Oak. Hopefully she won't have been able to cross the railway which cuts her off from Stonegate direction. If anyone has any other suggestions please please say as really this is all just guess work and assuming that we haven't missed her in the areas we have already searched. I have put a couple of posters up at Stonegate station this afternoon. Thank you all so much
ElaineM
Really, really hoping she is home soon but if needed maybe we could coordinate a search over the weekend? Looking forward to a map as may be able to do another couple of hours tomorrow afternoon - just need to know best area to be.
i will put a poster up at the top of our lane tomorrow as lots of dog walkers come down here from all over.
Clarkey - Area Co-ordinator, East Sussex
Wow, well done everyone for all your efforts. I hope you got back ok Haytersharpe.
Zoe, I'll leave you to discuss areas to search with Charlotte and others as I don't know the area that well.
Gina and Timi You're doing your usual brilliant job with posters. Thank you so much..as you know, it really does make a big difference.
Charlotte, you are doing brilliantly with posters too. I'm just keeping everything crossed that we get a sighting so we know where Daisy is.

I had a chat with Charlotte today and suggested about maps for people who are not sure of exact locations mentioned on here. Thanks for getting those printed. I also explained that the idea of having posters far and wide is to try and get 'ahead' of Daisy and obviously so lots of people see them. Then if anyone spots Daisy when they're out and about they should remember seeing a poster.
Zoe and I have thanked you before but I'll do it again as I'm very impressed with how you have pulled together to help find Daisy. THANK YOU!
Serena
I've been around froghole and little stonehurst farm up to witherenden again today and saw a few others out looking for her. Have any posters been put up at stonegate station yet as my mum was there this morning and couldn't see any? I can go and put one up if no one has! Will walk around the back of mayfield to tidebrook way tomorrow afternoon or anywhere else anyone thinks I should go, but I really hope she finds her way back home tonight xLast edited: 2017-02-02 18:49:42 by Serena
Gina and Timi
I have driven around all the all the roads adding posters and covered Rissenden Road and Snape forest, that i never even knew existed! with posters, Scragg Oak and Derbys Lane. Etchingham station. Will do a dog walk up round Gillhope farm tomorrow or if you want me to cover another are let me know x
ElaineM
Just back. We were a bit lost as to where Hawksden Wood was and struggled for parking in Witherenden (only just seen your kind offer Yogi) so ended up parking down by Bivelham and Forge Farm and walking to woods from there. Stayed until 4.45 - sadly no sighting at all. Saw lots of posters and lots of dog walkers. Really hope she comes home tonight.Last edited: 2017-02-02 17:05:12 by ElaineM

If I head out now light is against me but if I do an hour would someone collect me! I could run xc from Daisy's hone to other side of froghole / witherenden hill - my number is 07801 474347
DogLostZoe - Area Volunteer - East Sussex
Yogi - that is such a kind offer....I may take you up on that in the morning if you don't mind as its so hard to find places to park along those narrow lanes!! I have a VW Golf....you will know its me as my numberplate is a bit of a giveaway!! Gina & ElaineM, huge thank you to you too for all you are doing search and poster wise....so lucky to have such lovely people in our area. xx
DogLostZoe - Area Volunteer - East Sussex
No problem, I used to live in Tidebrook so know a lot of the paths etc round there. As you say, it would make sense for her to go down driveways or bridleways where its easy access. So I think i'll focus on that area. My sister is on the lookout in Batts Wood and down at the Dens off Churchsettle Lane which she could access quite easily from where she went missing. I have posted on as many sites as I could asking people in local villages to check outbuildings if they have them. I will send you a message on facebook with my mobile number (will probably go to your others folder) in case you need to get hold of me in the morning - I plan to go out between 8 & 10 at a guess. Do you have another dog whose scent would be familiar that she may pick up the scent of?
Yogi
I will start on the western side of Hawksden (Winters Farm) at 3pm and work east until 5pm.

I am Gillhope Farm - please feel free to park in our driveway or verge if you are searching in the area.
Charlotte
Sorry on phone, loads of places to park on the lane x
ElaineM
Don't worry about map - have found it on Google - will be there in about 15 mins. Hope ok to park in Witherenden. :)
ElaineM
Yes please email a map to elainemarianiesmt@btinternet.com Thanks - will head out shortly.
Charlotte
Hi Elaine, On the map it is called Hawksden Wood. It is behind fair oak farm on witherenden road (a right turning off scotsford road to Witherenden hill). I can email you a map if you would like one
ElaineM
I am free from about 3 until 4.30 p.m. this afternoon if you would like me to take a walk around the area she is missing from. I would need some guidance as to where to look though.
DogLostSpringerMad - Area Volunteer, East Sussex
We walked in woodland off coggins mill lane. I am not sure what they call that area but Mayfield towards Tidebrook. I will have a good look at my map and see where you mean.
Charlotte
Hi Zoe, a couple of people walked through park wood and batts wood yesterday. I am sure that she will shelter in a wooded area or buildings rather than open fields and hedgerows and having walked that way several times now from the last place she was seen, this seems like the obvious place she would run to. There are fewer gates/styles/ hedges in the way that would slow her down if she was running in a panic. My instinct tells me that is the best place to look, and could explain why we haven't had any sightings as it is particularly uninhabited in that area, towards Tidebrook. Does that make any sense? x
DogLostZoe - Area Volunteer - East Sussex
You are doing an amazing job Charlotte...I'm so sorry that there has been no sightings so far:-( I feel for you so much :-( Has anyone searched the area on the Mayfield side of Witherenden Road (ie Hawksden Park Wood and over that way?). I just wish we had a sighting to work from....hopefully with the posters going up in a wider area there is more chance that someone has seen Daisy. I'm hoping to get out for a couple of hours before work in the morning. Charlotte, if there is an area you want me to focus on then please let me know, otherwise i'll probably head over Mayfield way unless a sighting comes in before then. x
Charlotte
If anyone searching would like a map I have copies or an attachment I can send you to print off, let me know. Many many many thanks for all you are doing.
DogLostSpringerMad - Area Volunteer, East Sussex
Family in Mayfield notified and on the look out. Walked around Mayfield yesterday, and will keep eyes and ears out over the weekend too. Fingers crossed you get a sighting shortly.
Charlotte
Thank you all so much for your positive thoughts, you are keeping me going. Just been out postering Heathfield, Mayfield, Tidebrook, Stonegate, ran out of posters. Leaflets in pet shops, coffee shops, petrol station. Going to print some more and go out again. just with it would stop raining and the K9 lady would call.
Skywalker99
Also worth remembering that Ben & Amber (both pointers) did a huge loop when they went missing before xmas...and no sightings until they were found.
Gina and Timi
Charlotte is posting and leafleting in all surrounding villlages I am going out to cover area too and if anyone else can pop some up in their area it would be brilliant, the more people who know really helps
Clarkey - Area Co-ordinator, East Sussex
Thanks everyone. Charlotte has put in a request to k9tracker and I have already spoken with Jenny. Hopefully when she's available she will come and help.
It's so good to see what amazing support Charlotte has and how you are all pulling out the stops postering, searching and sharing for Daisy.
I was really hoping that the posters would start bringing in sightings but seems none yet. Perhaps it's because Daisy is hiding or in the fields rather than in more visible areas. Nicer weather this morning but I think the forecast is more rain later on. We could really do with more dry weather not only for Daisy but also for all of you out there searching. You are doing such a great job ... many thanks to each and every one of you. I'm sorry I have not been able to join in with the search.
Charlotte: I and all of us know how hard this is for you. Please stay positive as you have a lot of support from us and we do not give up. Let's hope today is the day we find your girlie.

I believe that Jenny & Yogi are already tracking another dog but they are keeping an eye on Daisys thread too. Sadly they can only be in one place at a time :-(

Gina and Timi
I can get some posters out later in high streets and stone gate station etc mayfield and burwash
DogLostZoe - Area Volunteer - East Sussex
Was really hoping that Daisy would be in the blue this morning :-( I'm so sorry, but i can't help after work today as i have another commitment but i may be able to do something tomorrow. I think it might be an idea to spread the postering a bit further out now as there hasn't been one sighting? Maybe focus on surrounding villages - Mayfield, Burwash, Heathfield, Stonegate etc. I know she has already been shared on the Mayfield, heathfield & Burwash Facebook pages.

Updates and I have everything crossed for you that you will have her back home soon xx

Sorry not been able to help look for Daisy today but have been following the search all day on here. Sorry you have not got your girl home yet, however it has been a foul day so maybe now the rain has stopped (at last) she may be seen. Will go that way again to work in the morning as I know friends are also doing. We have paws and fingers crossed for you Charlotte.
Charlotte
Did a dusk walk from home to the point we last saw her. No joy and nothing had eaten the sausages yet. Saw a couple of people on the way who were looking for her or who had been out walking looking earlier in the day. The word certainly seems to have spread.
DogLostZoe - Area Volunteer - East Sussex
I drove the back lanes back from work thru Witherenden to Broad Oak. Saw some posters which is great👍 I parked outside primary school in Broad Oak and walked as much of the woods opposite as I could but only had an hour & the light is going. Again saw more posters in prominent places and on almost every footpath sign . We really need a sighting now so we know which area to focus on. Well done to everyone who has helped so far. I think there has been a lot of shares on Facebook so most local people are aware.
Clarkey - Area Co-ordinator, East Sussex
Thanks Haytersharpe and everyone else who's been out today getting wet. You are all brilliant :)
Well done Charlotte, maybe Daisy will find the sausages and your scent trail later on. If you are out after dark you may even see her when you're driving slowly around or sitting in good spot.
Is anyone able to give the taxi companies posters please? Would be good to give posters to local postmen, any delivery drivers and put up at bus stops in area too please. Also to shops, garages, entrances/car parks to footpaths/woods and anywhere a lot of people will see them. In fact, anywhere and everywhere that you can think of. That way we may get a sighting come in .. we need Daisy to show herself so we can help find her.
Charlotte
have left scent trail from last sighting to home, also had bbq and left a pile of sausages at last sighting, about to go out again and see if she comes out at dusk
Haytersharpe
I have this morning walked from the top end of swife lane (past dogs house) and down the bridleway that leads to froghole farm - I walked left handed circular route along river etc - covered 5.5 miles - no sightings ! I spine to three dog walkers and alerted them to Daisy
Clarkey - Area Co-ordinator, East Sussex
Ah, now you're asking! It was a couple of years ago but am pretty sure it was the track off Pottens Mill Lane that leads down to the castle with the moat around it. If you go to end of track so you are nearly at the entrance to road to the castle (on right) there is another small track on the left going to a couple of houses. Those are the places Jimmy ended up going to several times. Hope that makes sense! Even if Daisy does not go there it would be helpful if you would put a couple of posters up so people walking in the woods there know she is lost.
Many thanks to you and everyone else out there. I'm stuck in Hastings with no transport today or I'd be out there with you.

PS The people at the castle were helpful too. They have footpath that goes by them into the woods above and behind them.Last edited: 2017-02-01 14:53:21 by Clarkey - Area Co-ordinator, East Sussex

Yogi, I believe Jimmy was found in an outbuilding on Pottens Mill Lane....Clarkey may have more details on whereabouts?
Charlotte, you are doing an amazing job...the posters are the most important thing at the moment as its them that lead to sightings. My sister lives in Churchsettle Lane so will ask her to keep an eye open in her area as she pretty much backs onto Batts Wood. I think i'll park up in Broad Oak and walk out towards Potten Mill Lane through the woods and fields.
Charlotte, do you live in Broad Oak? Or which direction would Daisy head if she was trying to head home? Sorry to keep bombarding you with questions!
Yogi
What farm was Jimmy found on? I live on Witherenden road and can visit them.
Clarkey - Area Co-ordinator, East Sussex
Thanks Zoe.
If you go near the farmhouse where Jimmy was found perhaps worth asking them to keep a look out for Daisy and to let their neighbours know. I've suggested to Charlotte to try to lay a scent trail fm her home to where lost as Daisy will have a good chance of picking it up.

Thanks for your update Charlotte. Important for people to know here searches have been in this miserable weather. Hopefully a sighting or 2 this afternoon when drying. Maybe the bbq will attract her out as she should be hungry by now. It's well worth trying anyway.
Fingers and everything else crossed Daisy is found soon.
PS I've shared to Mayfield buy swap page, Heathfield free site/road runners and other Fbk pages. Also sent some more Tweets out. Last edited: 2017-02-01 14:16:51 by Clarkey - Area Co-ordinator, East Sussex
Yogi
Hi Charlotte - After your visit I had walk in the fields and woods south of Witherenden Road and north of the Rother River between Scotsford Hill and Foghole Farm. Also checked farm buildings at Little Bainden and Gillhope Farm. Sorry, no luck so far. Will walk Rolf's and Winter's farms shortly.
Did you drop off a poster at Froghole Farm ? It's a logical place for her to go.
Hang in there. She will be found.
Charlotte
Zoe your plan sounds like a good one, especially if you know of places she might hide. I am stuck giving you a more specific area without any sightings. Thank you
Charlotte
Hi Everyone, thank you all for your searching and postering so far. We have postered swife lane, witherenden road, scotsford road, bottom end olives farm and piccadilly Lane, some on Newick Lane, and in Mayfield. We have searched fields and woods behind Gilhope farm and Frog hole farm also through park wood towards tide brook, from Piccadilly Lane to Newick lane and a bit further up Newick Lane. Also searching behind Taylors farm and Little Stonehurst Farm. About to have a look around Batts wood and surrounding area. Also off to Light a bbq where she was last seen. will keep going.
DogLostZoe - Area Volunteer - East Sussex
ElaineM, thank you for your kind offer re accessing the woods through your land.
Charlotte, not sure if you will pick this message up, but I will have an hour to search after work (around 3.45) but need to be back in Heathfield by 5.15. Is there a particular area you would like me to search in? If not, I will probably walk the same area that I walked when I was searching for Jimmy? I will come via Witherenden Lane and either Swife Lane or Street End Lane....looks like there are so many footpaths in that area. x PS Well done all for your postering so far. PPS Gina and Timi, thank you as always for your postering and searching efforts. x

It has been shared on my FB wall and we have walked our own fields in Heathfield, calling her name but no luck. We are Marklye Lane - there are woods behind us that may be worth searching and you are welcome to access them through our land. Also worth walking Marklye Lane down to where it meets Newick Lane as lots of ditches, hedges and open land. Good luck.

Thanks for the update Charlotte and for info on the collar and lead. Yes, would seem likely that it may have come off by now, really depends how far she ran.
Good to hear the search details as others will be able to join you or check in other areas nearby.
Please remember you will be leaving a scent trail wherever you walk so Daisy should be able to pick up on that.
The rain isn't helping you but it may at least mean that Daisy will not have gone too far and is likely to stay holed up. When it stops (supposedly lunchtime) is when she will start to move around again so lets hope we get a sighting then.
I've shared to Heathfield Community and a couple of other local pages as well as Doglost East Sussex and my timeline.
If anyone is on Twitter please would you send a couple out so locals know Daisy is missing. Thanks

Charlotte
Hi, Thank you all for your help and support. Daisy's Lead is a black leather one and it was attached to her 'Halty' which fastens around the back of her head, not her collar. I think it is quite likely that she will have slipped it off by now but her collar should still be on with her ID tag. She was last seen, by a fellow dog walker, heading down pottens mill lane towards open fields (Gilhope and Froghole Farm) I have been putting posters up since first thing and have a neighbour searching from Rolfs farm direction, another searching from Newick Lane back towards where she was last seen and my husband is searching from Piccadilly Lane that comes out by red house farm. I will walk our usual walk and head back to where she was lost. Hopefully we will see some sign of her but as you say she is likely to be sheltering somewhere. She hates rain. Thank you againLast edited: 2017-02-01 08:44:02 by Charlotte

Charlotte, i live in Heathfield and work in Ticehurst so travel that way every morning. I did keep an eye open for her on my way in today. Its been very wet overnight so hopefully Daisy has found some shelter and might explain lack of sightings. As Clarkey has said, posters are the key. Had you walked to where you were walking Daisy or had you driven? And when you say she headed off towards Witherenden, was that along the road or across the fields? As someone else has said, that is the area that Jimmy went missing a while back and he was found in someones outbuilding. I hope that she turns up safely today but if not, i will spend an hour searching with my dog on my way home from work.
Clarkey - Area Co-ordinator, East Sussex
No news of Daisy yet unfortunately.
Charlotte: is the lead that Daisy has on a normal or retractable one please?

Please would anyone helping try to get posters up in the area so that Charlotte can get some sightings come in. Big ones on telegraph poles and small ones to give to anyone you meet (as usual!) please. If you are running out of posters try to keep one and ask people to take a photo on their mobile of it!
I know that several people will be going out to search this morning so am hoping Daisy will be spotted somewhere. As it's still wet out there I expect she will be sheltering somewhere so would be worth checking farm buildings, people gardens nr where she was lost. The weather is supposed to get better around lunchtime so that's probably when Daisy will start to move around again and hopefully someone will see her.
Fingers crossed she is found very soon or that we at least get a sighting of her.

I'm so sorry to see that Daisy is missing. Thanks to all who have posted and are helping. Great to see the Heathfield team spring into action!
Charlotte: I have sent you our Doglost advice emails which has lots of suggestions on how to find Daisy. As you will see we have a lovely team of helpers in your area and they will support you and help with posters and searching.
Most dogs will come back to the place where they were lost from when all has gone quiet or try to make their way home in the early hours. Please leave some bedding/clothing (unwashed socks tshirts work well) where she was lost so that she has something familiar to settle down with until you return to check it. If it is raining then it's likely that Daisy will find shelter somewhere and then start to move around when it has stopped.

Most important is to get as many posters up as possible as this is the way that you will get sightings of Daisy. When someone calls please ask what time/day they saw her and which direction she was going in (please remember to make a note of their tel number)
Very best of luck with your search.

I have printed off 18 posters will cover the area you last saw her in the morning.
Charlotte
Don't know, she's never done it before and she ran to an area we have never walked before. she's extremely pampered and doesn't like rain or cold so she never strays far from me. She just went into a blind panic when she heard the bin lorry and bolted. We have left her bed outside the door just in case she does come back.
