I was so pleased to hear this yesterday and that Heidi seems none the worse after her adventure. Many thanks to the dedicated team who were out all hours in all weather working hard to get this very nervous rescue dog safely back home with her mum. Not forgetting all those that kept it together in other ways!

As far as I am aware the last sighting was Sunday. There are teams of professionals on standby ready to go to work but without a sighting they are helpless. So we need sightings - She has gone in to "survival mode" and will be frightened of everything and everybody, in this stressed state she will not even recognise her owner. It is likely she has found a food source by now or even several. It is likely she is moving around some distance at night or early mornings. Do you live in the area or know someone who lives in the area ? Do you leave food out for foxes ? Is she hiding down the end of your garden? Can you help with putting posters up anywhere in the Godalming to Shere area - if so go to the FIND HEIDI Facebook page or just put them up ! UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES SHOULD ANYONE APPROACH HER as she will run off and be lost again. Come on home HEIDI you little monkey ! XXXX
Natalia
We need more area help to distribute dog lost posters...leave on car windows, farms, schools, cycling clubs..they all need to know as we need more sightings please.

Message from Mel.....
I just want to say that it's not just me who is going home exhausted and worn out and worriedo. The team helping me, who have been working tirelessly on the ground walking, talking and putting posters up and guiding me through this horrendous ordeal. I just wanted to make that clear and to thank them all from the bottom to the top of my heart. Xx
Denise
A message from Mel...
Thank you so very much all you wonderful people who took the time to help today in the search for Heidi. Also, you have all been incredible in spreading the word and getting her known out there. I can't tell you how much I value your help and although I'm not commenting here so much... it's because all my man hours are taken up with being on the ground, walking, talking, postering, from morning til night before i drive home exhausted to have a restless night thinking of heidi and what's involved for the next day. So I don't want you to think your efforts are in vain or you're being ignored. I've got some fabulous ppl who are answering messages on my behalf but you can imagine the volume they have to deal with. But they're doing an amazing job.
DogLostRavenette - Area Co-ordinator - West Sussex
Heidi's owner also had a sighting today, but she ran away and hasn't been seen since ... but at least Mel now knows she is still out there and seemingly okay. A big thank you to all that have been out searching ... helping and supporting. Fingers crossed that Mel and Heidi are reunited very soon x

SATURDAY UPDATE!! THERE HAS BEEN A CONFIRMED SIGHTING ON THURSDAY WHICH IS GREAT NEWS AS FIRST CONFIRMED SIGHTING SO FAR. I don't know any more at the moment as they want to keep the area as quiet as possible to preserve her scent. The owners are out at the moment doing a line of scent, with their other dog retracing the area she was lost.

WHAT CAN YOU DO TO HELP - Please keep promoting this page, the more people that know the more help we can get. If you have any time today we need help with leaflets in Albury, Albury Heath, Shere, Brook, Farley Green and the centre parks of Blackheath Common. ALSO PLEASE JOIN OUR WALK TOMORROW AT 10AM - MEETING POINT TO BE CONFIRMED BUT WILL BE UPDATED ON THE EVENTS PAGE.

Lets use the poo army to get this little girl home - it's too cold for her to be out - she needs to be snuggled up doing the poo pose!!! Please confirm on the walk if you are able to attend - all help will really really be appreciated.

We will keep you up dated as and when we can.

PLEASE ALSO ENSURE MEL IS ONLY CALLED FOR CONFIRMED SIGHTINGS AND USE THIS PAGE FOR ANY QUERIES OR QUESTIONS. THANK YOU

Hi All, Just updating on behalf of Mel, Heidi's mum. There have been 2 possible sightings of Heidi at Blackheath Common. The latest this morning near Sample Lane. Thank you all for keeping an eye out for her. If you use Facebook she has her own page now. Find Heidi. But we will keep you updated her. Thanks again. Denise
Denise
Hi Adele... just to let u know that my phone is ringing in now.
Denise
Hello this is Mel the owner of Heidi. I have joined the three cockapoo fb pages recommended. I have posted Heidi's poster there so that it can be shared even more. There has been no sightings yet but still forever hopeful.
Thank you all for you support and if the people who live in the areas around where she went missing can keep spreading the word, that would be an amazing help. Thanks. X

HEllo... I am the owner, Mel. I'm not too up on networking and I'm sorry that you've commented here and I haven't answered. I think most questions have been answered now on doglost fb page.
Nina... she doesn't really respond to squeaky toys or whistles.

Would your dog respond to a squeaky toy or a whistle

I got a text today with the following message

Hi, I will post this on Dog Lost later on, but thought I'd text you directly too.
A facebook friend just messaged me that your dog was seen in her mother's garden in Sample Oak Lane in Blackheath on Sunday looking scared. It ran away when the lady went outside to get it. It went into the woods near the Friary. I really hope that you find her soon.
Sam

Reports of sighting on Sunday, sample oak road by the priory and war memorial. Owner on the way there.
Clothing was left in car park thank you. Now soaking wet. I am at work til this evening. Some of us will will go back to that area, as we are slightly off the location with postering. Owner not likely to pick up on messages her for a bit, as reception is patchy at best.and her phone is mis behaving. We have sardines as well, on the case! No taxi etc, very rural. Not many houses. As you say we need sightings, and got one today for a sighting on Sunday. Need a sighting Monday or today to home in. Car can not be left, owner does not live in area. So local people trying to help as best they can :)

I was asked to take a look at this dog as I am a fosterer and ex Doglost Co-ordinator. One of my fosterer friends has texted the owner who seems a bit inindated with calls so I will put the advice here. But please do call the lady (fosterer who messaged you as she is also very experienced).

Re BBQ - a dog in flight, especially one of our type of dogs will not be seeking food at this stage. It will only be in flight mode so may not work. But do have food on you like sardines, cheese, hotdogs as this may help during an actual catch.

As for posters I have found it useful when Owners have ordered prints from a local shop/printers (if you cannot print them yourselves) and then ask people to put up.
Unfortunately nothing replaces the impact that posters actually have. Whilst social media is useful many calls actually come from posters and handouts. I can make smaller handouts and send to you if required (which you just give people after talking to them).
Try to delegate contacting taxis/delivery firms/post office workers/any fostery type workers/schools/village shops etc to someone who is maybe remote or at home as that can be done by phone and followed up by email.

Has clothing/bedding/scent been left anywhere where she last saw the owners? This would have been in Raventtes advice, and also in the location where the car was parked? A dog will know how to get back to the place the car was parked so ideally the car should have been moved to that location overnight. If not do leave personal unwashed items there, perhapes some bedding too, with a note on it for people not to disturb.
Often the dog will return to the place it was lost but if nothing is left will move on again. There is no specific formula on what they will do but generally she would be within - 1-3 miles of where she was lost.
Catching a nervous dog is in two stages. One to create the sightings by postering and spreading the word. The second stage is the catch which is more tricky. What tends to happend with owners trying to recatch their dog is they themselves get anxious and the dog picks up on this. So you have to make yourself or anyone else trying to catch her very calm, slow breathing, humm, natter quietly to yourself. If you see her try not to approach immediatley unless she is in danger of going near a road or danger. Then try and move yourself upwind, so the wind takes your scent to the dog and let the dog pick this up. At this stage you do not have to approach. So long as you keep an eye on where she is. It can take up to two hours to catch a dog from this point so don't rush it. Some people will then try making themselves small and near to the ground, even laying down, and you must not be front on, ensure you are side on and no confrontational. I tend to leave some of the smelly food and move back away from it the same distance as the dog is from me at that point (which it feels safe with). And then repeat. Some will sit side on and throw food. This final bit all depends on how the dog is reacting but the most important is don't try to just walk up to it.
If the owner cannot get to a sighting someone can get the owners voice on lound speaker on their phone and gently talk to them. If the dog hears a familiar voice (maybe not even someone who was on the walk) it might help it stick around. You can also record this voice on your phone and replay it.
If Heidi enjoyed the car ( ie associated it with nice walks) you can try leaving the car near a sighting with doors and boot open.
Generally it is best not to search with other dogs unless Heidi was attached to one or more particular dog
Adele
This may help if people can offer to help . Group parked T Bramley, I don't know location. Got in another car and drove to Shere. They followed the fox way from Shere, through to Albury Heath, going through horse fields at Brook, little London area into Blackheath. At the common car park ( the one nearest the closed pub) she was spooked, and won't go near owner and then started to run about around the edges of the car park, and the common area behind the pub ( sort of the memorial Area). The owner and some stayed to find Heidi, the rest had to continue their journey back to Bramley to get their car. So you see it's a huge area to cover, and we really need some help getting posters up all over to get the best chance of sightings in these early days. Please also share on any FB pages you know. Thank you SOS much xxLast edited: 2017-02-07 07:59:13 by Adele

Tried. To BBQ last night, too wet and windy. Three of us searched area until 8.20 pm. No sightings. Nothing reported either by 7.30 am. Owners phone not ringing, so please text her with messages if sighted, or leave a message. Owner going back again to area today to widen search and put up more posters. Farley green has been poster'd. Some of Shere has been done.
Adele
With Melanie the owner this morning, at Blackhealth, talking to every walker and horse rider we see. Nobody has seen her yet. Posters are up in Shere, and spoken to race horse farm at Brook. We need help printing posters and getting them up in surrounding area please. Thank you adele
