- Brilliant news Lesley. Hope his injuries are not too bad. Dogs are amazing animals, very resilient, hopefully with some TLC he will be better soon. I am sure you also need some TLC after this worrying time x

- My daughter and I spent 2 hours yesterday searching the area opposite the Wattenden pub, we think it is called Betts Mead. We did split up, however the area is so vast that it would be quite easy to miss him. There does not seem to be many people that walk on that area, we only met 2 in the time we were there.

- I think I know where you mean Monica ... so very near the wattenden pub & the pond!
- 2017-02-16 08:26 Monica - Area Volunteer, South London
- He came out of the brambles area as he was seen 7 hours later limping in front of the pub. The entrance is in Hayes lane in front of the aerodrome the back lead to the gardens of houses at the beginning of old lodge lane before pub. - Please can someone post exactly where this area of thorns is that he was chased into yesterday as posted below at 07.41 on 15th. I am not familiar with any area of thorns round here but if someone knows where this is I can go & look near the area tomorrow! I am worried that if he is injured he may be lying down somewhere in the bushes near that area if this was the last place he was spotted! Apologies if this area has already been checked!

- Just got back from area near Wattenden Pub, Old Lodge Lane. Drove all round & up to some of the roads mentioned in the Warlingham area, no sign. Although it may be unlikely he can walk far now. My daughter & I were out for a few hours this afternoon, around the same area, putting up leaflets. Also did a lot of walking on all the common areas near the pub, along Old Lodge Lane, spoke to a few people but no sightings.

- Yes me too I have only just got back from Kenley Common 9:15pm ... drove up to ponds as well where he was seen yesterday but no signs, we drove round to other side of the common as well .... was so hoping for a good news update ... but have everything crossed for him & Lesley will keep looking x

- Any news today ? I had a drive around, as did others & walkers but not heard of any sightings :(

- Please work from a safe distance if y meet Gunther. This varies from dog to dog . Come down to his level as he will feel less threatened and use food to gain his trust. If you rush he might run or bite. He came close enough to nip a person so we know he can approach. He however needs to be given time. Patience is the key so please don't rush. Gunther stayed from around 11:00 to 19:00 (last confirmed sighting) very closed to his home. It is important that we don't scare him away and help him to feel safe. By the last confirmed sighter we know he still has the lead and hopping on three legs. We need desperately help with posters as we need to alert local community not to approach him and also as we need sightings. If y are out searching it might be better to also put a few posters up in the meantime. Time spent will be more productive in this way. Finally if you are walking in pair or group and y meet him it is important that only one person works to gain his trust while everybody else back off. He will feel more scare if he has to watch more than one person movements. There is a lovely community spirit out there and if we all pull together following simple guidelines we can bring this boy back to his friend Laur.

- If anyone in the area can help with putting up posters that would be great. Crossposting from Monica from earlier this evening "We started to do posters😬 finally. I believe the dog got injured when he was chased around 11:00 am today and was forced to go into an area full of thorns knee high 😢 if he has not been hit then I would not be surprised he is limping. The good thing this has slowed him down. Limping badly on right rear leg. He is so closed to his home. Owner has been staying indoor as this is what the rescue has advised her to do as he will come back apparently. Tonight sighting came after less than a minute after the first poster was put up in a pub. I amended poster to ensure it is clear that dog should at no time be approached! If he bit the lady last night it means he can't be approached. He just needs to be given time. Owner is now aware that she should sit down rather than follow him.

Lesley can the rescue lady bring a trap ? Is she coming down ?
The rspca may lend you one if not ? - 2017-02-14 13:04 LesleyB
- Sorry, Just at the small roundabout by the aerodrome at the start of Old Lodge Lane near Golf Road. I've just been round there and seen a lady who saw him go into the undergrowth and disappear

- LesleyB, can you explain where Wattendon Pond is please. Can't locate on map
- 2017-02-14 11:51 LesleyB
- I've spoken to Sarah. Several people have phoned with sightings and Gunther made his way to a field in Golf Road where a couple of people tried to catch him and Laur I got within sight of him but he ran off again to the middle of the airfield. Since spotted by a caller at the Wattendon Pond. I think he is trying to get back here but he needs to get close enough and see Laur without me being in the way. I'm staking out my front garden and crossing my fingers. Does anyone know where I can get a trap? Thanks
- 2017-02-14 10:34 Campion3
- Sarah that is a shame. A week of antibiotics and a tetanus jab is needed now.

Could be Hornchurch Hill he running up ? - 2017-02-14 09:32 LesleyB
- Sarah, I am so sorry that Gunther bit you. I have just come on line and found this having been up most of the night looking out in case he came back to my garden. The Safe Rescue lady has confirmed that everything is up to date. Please call me, my mobile number is on the poster. We were out looking for Gunther last night along Limpsfield Road at about 8 00/ 9 00 after about 3 people phoned me to say he had been spotted there. I am trying to put together a time line of all the sightings to establish a pattern of his movements. Was it 11 15 when you found him in Westhall Road, Sarah?. I'm going to go out with Laur soon and walk around Westhall Road. If there are any more sightings please call or text me on 07846082348. Thank you to all the lovely people who have helped. And sorry again, Sarah

- 23.15 13/02/17 seen tonight whilst out looking for my dog Lulu who is also missing
Gunther was running down Westhall Road, he went into Old Westhall Close and my husband and I stopped our car and tried to tempt him with treat, he started running towards us and we thought he was coming for the treat, and I tried to grab his lead but unfortunately as he's so scared he bit me on the arm and I let go of him.
He then ran out of Old Westhall Close turning left but he disappeared before we could see him. - 2017-02-13 23:47 Monica - Area Volunteer, South London
- He was sighted this morning in hillbury rd and westhall rd near landscapes rd. He travelled quite a distance further south and crossed the a22 early am. Maybe something spooked him. I feel it would be very hard for Gunther to travel back to Lesley home in Welcomes rd. However, I pray he travels back up north. There have been no sighting since this am. We need to increase area of search as fast as we can. Can locals please help by alerting all surrounding golf courses, nearby stables etc. Warlingham golf course should be alerted in case he goes further south. It is a very vast area to cover and any assistance we can provide to Lesley it is appreciated. Unfortunately due to work commitments I was only able to get there after 20:00 for a couple of hours.

- I have walked Welcomes Road & up the dirt track to Kenley Common again tonight (Monday) with my dog & a torch. Looked on the Kenley side of common & aerodrome in the dark in case he was hiding but no luck sorry! I see there have been more recent sitings on Hillbury road & Westhall road today which looks like he must have crossed the A22! Has anyone tried Whyteleafe recreation ground leading up to Riddlesdown? Trouble is so much greenland to hide in that area! Really hope that he turns up tonight! I will keep a look out again on my walk tomorrow but it sounds like he has moved on a bit from the Kenley area! I will keep checking for posts if there are new sitings I am willing to drive to the area to help in the search!

- Sorry he still missing. Seems like you doing all you can.
Good lady from Rescue offering help if he not back tonight x - 2017-02-13 16:27 LesleyB
- Good thought, thank you but I am already there. I had both Gunther and Laur and am in touch with Safe Rescue who have been very helpful. The dogs both escaped together but someone managed to get hold of Laur within an hour or two but took him away from Gunther. We took Laur with us all day yesterday and we saw Gunther many times (and he saw Laur) but he ran away each time. Sadly I haven't seen him today. I'm hoping he will come back tonight and be hungry enough and confident enough not to run away. Otherwise, the Safe Rescue lady will come down and try to entice him tomorrow if he turns up

- Can the previous fosterer from Safe Rescue help in any way though I think they are too far away (even with some advice? - I used to follow their website. I seem to remember that Gunther used to have a boon companion there, a dog called Laur, who appears to still be in foster - maybe, if all else fails, he can be brought as that might help. When I looked a month or two ago, they were up for adoption as a pair as they were so attached to each other. Hopefully, you will get him back soon. Fingers crossed.

- A very kind lady phoned me about half an hour ago to say she had seen him running up Hillbury Road in Warlingham, the other side of the aerodrome but couldn't catch him. Also he was barking outside our front door at 3 45 a.m. but when my son opened the door he ran off again! Thank you so much to everyone. I just need to get close enough to catch him.
