Nice to speak to your OH Sonia! Keep positive there are still lots of places to try. Remember George is CHIPPED and may be sitting in a kennel somewhere waiting to be re-homed. Don't lose hope, take a look at the re-united page to lift your spirits, many people have been re-united with their dog after a long time............keep positive.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Thank you that is just what we need, more pairs of eyes! George hasn't just disappeared into thin air, he must be somewhere so lets hope spreading the net further afield will mean he is spotted.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I'm on a uk golden list and emailed George's details to them when he first went missing. I did it again today to say he was still not home. There are lots of Golden Retriever Club members on there. Hurry home George. xxxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Have emailed George's details to Irish Retriever Rescue - they're uk based, and rescue golden retrievers in Ireland and re-home in the uk. Have a great network of eyes up and down the country.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

That's a brilliant idea thank you! Sonia did you get my PM? Lets spread the net further afield and make some approches to some Retriever Rescues too. Is there anyone on here who has any contacts with RR? If so please make sure that George is in their hearts and minds!Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

http://www.thegoldenretrieverclub.co.uk/ I wonder whether you have contacted The Golden Retriever Club. If you try the above site there are contact nos, for members all over the country including three in Devon. It may be worth getting in touch with them, if nothing else it would make them aware that George is missingLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi again. Just to let you know that I have followed up the lead, re finding a golden retriever in the Dolton area = the dog has been repatriated with owner. This happened within 2 hours of the person finding the dog. Many thanks for the scout work on this and I am very grateful for all you are doing for me and George. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Just a quickie - I've just printed off some posters with what I think is an eye catching headline - but would like to know what you think? the headline is....What do you want for christmas? then underneath, I've put.. All we want is George. Is that a bit yukky or do you think it would grab passer by's attention? SoniaLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

My name is Sonia - George's sad owner! Firstly I wanted to say thank you everyone, so much for all your support. I have wanted to say thanks for weeks now but had huge difficulties trying to register - all sorted now though. With reference to the latest story about someone calling into the store near Winkleigh Aerodrome, I just wanted to let you know that sadly nobody has tried to contact me about being in possession of a golden retriever. Maybe it has been re-united with another owner who lost their dog. I am just off to the said store now to speak to the staff there and see if I can jog their memory about who it was that made the comment about picking up a golden retriever on the loose some weeks ago. Will let you all know the outcome. I will also be putting up more posters in and around area.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Somebody may have George! Don't want to raise false hopes here but somebody told the owner of a store on the edge of Winkleigh airport that they'd picked up a 'yellow lab/golden retriever' loose in the Dolton area. They've taken the phone number from the poster I left there. I'd love this to be George!!Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I spoke to Georges owner today, she is unable to log onto Dog Lost. George went missing on the 22nd September, from their farmland, he was with his father maybe chasing deer. His father returned but George didn't. Georges owners have had an appeal on Radio Devon which brought in several phone calls, from Cullompton, Wellington, Teignmouth and Sidmouth, all these areas have been checked out and postered, most of them have been eliminated. Would it be possible for George to be featured in farmers weekly. He has been in the Western Morning News, and Express Echo for weeks now, with no firm leads. SueLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

George's owners - sorry to see he's still missing. If you look at Bishop's page (Dog ID=10567) you will see lots of contact numbers for dog wardens and kennels in Devon, which may be useful. Alternatively, do pm me your email address and I will email it to you. Good luck.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Have e-mailed/posted out posters to vets in North Tawton,Okehampton, Torrington, South Molton and Crediton. Also Dogs Trust, Ilfracome, Blue Cross Tiverton, and Little Valley RSPCA Exeter. Don't know what kennels the differant area dog wardens use. Hope this may bring some leads. He may be further afield by now as no sightings in the area he went missing from, if he had just gone for a wander I'm sure there would be sightings. SueLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I went out and postered various places south of Beaford this morning- seems they had been covered previously, but the posters had been removed due to the time this boy has been missing. I have had more put up. Not sure if this will help as he could be anywhere by now, but it might jog somebody's memory. One place told me about a 'small hound bitch' (? Beagle type) that had been seen loose on Winkleigh airport yesterday ... very friendly, had a Crediton phone number on (although the woman didn't think to make a note of it before the dog disappeared again). I gather she looked like she might have had, or be having puppies ....... oh dear!Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

As soon as Admin receives a photograph, the poster will be emailed out to helpers. Posters need to be displayed as soon as possible on notice boards, lamp posts, entrances to parks, dog bins and on cars. Take posters to vets, pet shops, postmen (for sorting offices), milkmen, dustmen, street cleaners, taxi drivers, schools, pubs, youth clubs, newsagents, post offices, takeaways, dog training clubs, supermarkets and car parks. Hand out reduced-down posters or cards to people - especially dog walkers - and deliver to houses and businesses. Police stations, Dog Wardens, the RSPCA and all rescue centres need checking frequently and preferably visited in person by owner or someone who knows George well. Stay safe George, until you are home x Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Just a thought have there been any travellers in your area? or any workmen who may be from from any of the areas of the possible sightings. Earlier in this year colllie puppy called Sweep,(on this site) stolen from a farm near Dartmouth also very rural location, thought to have been taken by workmen from Cornwall.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Please to see George has been posted on this site. I saw his lost ad in the Express & Echo, and left a message on the owners answerphone about this site. Blaze the collie went missing quite a distance from George, although I think some possible sightings in the Chulmleigh area. Dolton is a rural area, make sure posters are displayed local vets, school, pubs, local shops, police stations, small fire stations (chulmleigh/North Tawton) see if the postman will put a poster in his van etc. Contact all Devon dog wardens as their areas very often overlap and they don't always talk to each other. Good luck in your search. Stay safe George. SueLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
