- UPDATE: Emma's chip was manually located (by palpitation) after she was reunited - it was no longer working (despite having been scanned OK in November), and had migrated to under her tummy. Twenty other beagles all chipped with the same batch of microchips, by the same person, were also re-scanned: two had failed, and almost all had migrated - generally down the shoulder or leg. (Microchips originally supplied via petlog.)

- Welcome home Emma. I can only mirror what has already been said here. It does raise concerns about how many others have slipped through the net x

- Simply unbelievable, and so sad that Emma had to endure such a long time in kennels.

- Why would kennels do this? Are they blind? Too lazy to look at photos or records of dogs in care? Not looked up the breed in the I-spy book? Just don't get it....

- Thank you Svend..... sadly another tale of Dog Wardens not doing their jobs and Holding kennels not being honest .Thankfully all has ended well and the Beautiful Emma is now back where she belongs .just worries me how many other pets this has happened to.....as Svend says, trust no one you have to search kennels in person ...

- Emma is now safely back home. Thank you for everyone who helped get her home.
She had been picked up by the dog warden in Corfe Mullen about an hour after she went missing - almost certainly she had been picked up and then dumped. However, finding her was not straightforward: despite having had her microchip re-checked as recently as November, she was described by Margaret Green as "definitely not chipped". She was also described as "not a beagle, but a cross breed". Photos of Emma were sent to Margaret Green, and the staff denied having her, but said they would "keep an eye out". Thankfully a visit in person on her 7th day in kennels confirmed she was there.
The moral of this tale is clear - a kennel visit IN PERSON is ESSENTIAL if there is the remotest possibility a missing dog has been collected by the dog warden. - 2017-02-19 17:12 Nelsonbeagle
