- Interesting - our dog trainer is dead against bells. She reckons it is unpleasant for the dog (and maintains you should be able to see the dog in any case - not always easy!)

- As a volunteer dog walker I am seeing more, and more dogs with bells on their collars. And not just working dogs. I think it`s a great idea

- GREAT IDEA on nextdoor forum from a lady called Lisa
When Guide Dogs let their dogs run free they put a bell on the collar so the blind person knows where the dog is. I've done this with my boy and it's useful to be able to hear him, if he disappears in bushes or if he's behind me. I know when he's running to catch up. I also know that if that bell suddenly stops jingling it's been removed and there's a problem, so it's a good idea and a useful tool against thefts.
You can buy bells in Hobbycraft for about £2 and also the ring to attach them to the collar. Just an idea which may help ;) - 2017-02-18 08:20 Unknown
- So glad the dog, and, owner safe. It reminded me a bit of whenb a friend was walking her German Shepherd, while the dog was having a sniff behind some hedges , and out of sight, two men were about to attack/mug her she clicked her finger, and thumb, whereupon the dog came running back, and chased them off. she said she had never seen two men run so quick. He was a lovely family dog, but because she was busy with three young children, on her own she gave him to the Brirish Army, and as promised they used to send her photographs of how he was getting on. One was of him parachuting into Germanay, so he settled down there. Th dog would have died some years, and my friend only a few years ago

- Often these are false plates. They seem to have no shame in being seen.

- This does sound horrible. But also really odd. Why make it so obvious? And traceable? Bizarre.

- Glad the owner is ok - she took very sensible precautions. Without being alarmist people with valuable dogs should make sure they have mobile phones and walk in areas where there is good signal. Anything suspicious take photos and if you fear for your safety phone the police saying you are being followed.

- X posted from info sent- this happened 15.02 Milford/Godalming area Surrey
White Landrover, partial ref plate LL59 AG. Occupants followed my friend to the local park and while one male stayed in the car the other got out and watched her walking the dog. She decided to leave the park via a different exit on the far side to avoid going near them, as she got near her home address the same vehicle drove past her, reversed and started following her just a metre behind, luckily a neighbor was in their driveway so she walked in to their garden to talk. Vehicle drove away. Police have been informed . PLEASE PLEASE KEEP YOUR DOG NEAR - 2017-02-17 07:42
