Thanks Angus, for your suggestions greatly appreciated. When I spoke to John at the beginning I did offer to do the smaller posters, John has already done some. Jan x Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi John, so sorry that you have not had any positive sightings yet but please just keep getting her picture out there, I had a good idea for getting some more coverage for your missing babies, print the poster as a 4 to a page mini poster (if you email it to yourself you can manipulate as a standard word doc or I am sure that admin can do for you) and then send out with your christmas cards and ask your friends to do the same and in turn ask the recipeint to send on with theirs (like a chain letter inside a christmas card) or print them onto stickers and put them on the back of an envelope, that way the postman might see it too on his or her rounds. could widen the audience looking for her a little further.

Will stick a poster of Nell up at my clay shooting club near Thirsk when I go tomorrow - a lot of members also shoot game in the area so may see her out and about.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Oh John, I do hope you get some news soon, from as far away as i am I will keep scouring adverts and rescues to see if she may have been handed in away from your area have you been able to get any local exposure in local press? Keelah may be able to write you a bit to try to get locals to take the editorial. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

The owners of the Choc Lab bitch which was found in RG5 on the 6th Nov have now been identified. Seemingly they acquired her only recently and since she ran away they have realised they cannot afford a dog. So she is on her way to Battersea DH. I hope that whoever has temporary ownership of my Lab or anyone who might think they know where she might be, is also reading this post because I would like to offer a ?500.00 cash reward for her safe return, with NO questons asked. Likewise if anyone could give me any information whatsoever I will be very generous and assure them complete anonymity. THANK YOU. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi, You could just put her in the pets section as lost - any extra local adverts will help as someone may be looking after her without knowing where she really lives.. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi I am sure you will have tried this but the local kennels are in Pateley and their number is 01423 711677. This is where the dog warden would take any dog she picked up. I hope it helps, I have put some posters up for you in Masham/ Bedale area and put one up in the local shoot meeting spot. Good luck hope you get her home soon Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I'm sure there are potholes and crevices which she could have got into, as much I could I combed the immediate area with my two other dogs during the days following her disappearance and since I alerted some of the local farmers and shepherds that my dog went missing and I'm pretty sure most will know by now, the pub is displaying a poster, the local shooting fraternity have also been made aware. Thanks again.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

410 The boy doesn't live as far up as Fellbeck when my son checked. I will try and get up there this week. Have you asked local farmers if there are any potholes that she may have fallen into? Not a very pleasant thought, but a possibility at this stage. I know a few people at Summerbridge and will ask them if they have any ideas. Hope Countryman's Weekly has as good an outcome for you as it did for me.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hello Brightside, Nell went missing from Fellbeck Mill House HG3 5EN, it is 1/4 mile up to the tarmac road (B6265)direct, midway between Cliffe Farm and Knoll Top Farm 1/2 mile from Half Moon Inn. It would be 9.30pm onwards, IF she went that way, I don't think for a minute she is still 'on the loose', I am absolutely convinced that if she has not suffered some accident? which was fatal or has since proved fatal, then someone must have picked her up and now keeping her but that someone could be anywhere - Kent, Cheshire, who knows! I have just postered the High School in Pateley and the big school in Ripon but now I am clutching at straws. Thanks.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I have asked my son to tell a boy from his school who comes from Fellbeck about Nell and that she is still missing. Perhaps she is still in that area. Would you post or PM some details of where she went missing please?Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I have so far emailed all the vets in Yorkshire that had email addies, which amounted to 94 I think, or there abouts, and covered HG, HU, HD, HX, WF, YO and BD postcodes. Have still got to retrace my steps and do the faxing for those that have no email, and there are more than those with email !! Didn't know Yorkshire was so large. I have sent Nell's poster along with a letter I have written, asking for them to watch for her being brought in, but to also display the poster. Will carry on with faxing over next couple of days. I hope you get some news soon 410. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

410, I'm going to try to help you out with the vets on here. You say you have done many vets in Yorkshire, so that means not all. I'll do all of Yorkshire again for you, and then see how we go from there. So will start making the list up. Any other suggestions from helpers on here please? Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Don't give up hope. Doglost does work. I have just got my dog, Megan, back after four weeks missing. She was in Countrymans Weekly yesterday and Jayne got a call about her in the afternoon. She was at Skipton and the people who phoned in said that they had had her for three weeks and had been given her. When I went for Megan, I asked them if they could pass the information on about your dog to the person they got her from and said that the knowledge of her loss was widely distributed. Hopefully if someone has kept her, they will realise that people are on the lookout for her and return her. Get her in the Lost and Found columns in the Harrogate papers as well. They are distributed in the areas where she went missing.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

First off - can't thank you all enough for getting involved in the hunt for Nell. One week on my own feelings on what has happened to Nell are : If she did'nt suffer an accident that night last week which has since proved fatal, then she has definitely been kept by her finder. The reason I have been contacting Vets (post by Majorjet 22/10) in a broader area of Yorkshire is this: Nell had been suffering from acute diarrhoea the week prior to her disappearance, our Vet had stabalised the condition with anti-biotics and Nell was currently on a special diet. Seven days have now passed since Nell went AWOL and whoever has temporary possession of her will now certainly be aware they have a problem with her bowel movements and may seek veterinary help/advice. Now I'm pretty sure there can't be many 2 year old Choccy Lab bitches being introduced to a Vet, anywhere for the first time, with this condition-period! Hence my hopes of finding Nell might now well rest with just one Vet!! I have written to many Vets in Yorkshire, but my fear is that Nell could be now be out of the county and there are so many Vets in the UK that the odds are not in my favour. I realise it is asking alot, but you guys who live in other counties could really help by just postering your own Vets with details of Nell, between us we may get lucky. I realise that micro-chipping cannot offer a 100% guarantee that a lost animal will be reunited with it's owner, but now that I am aware of how the dog warden service works, I rue not having Nell chipped and it will be one of the first things I do if/when we have her safely back. Please note another telephone number to call me on : 01423 711489 and/or please text my cellphone : 07702 012700. THANKS EVERYONE. John.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

John, thanks for posting and further to our conversation earlier I have spoken to Keelah (Doglost Press Officer), who will be in touch shortly regarding media support and The Countryman's Weekly. You are doing a great job contacting the vets in a wide area and also the surrounding farms. I will email the SCENTING INSTRUCTIONS by Sherlock to you, read them a few times. Nell may well still be in the area in the local woods. Hope you get some sightings of her soon, do look at some of the other dogs stories I mentioned to you for useful information. I am sure you will get her back shortly if she only ran off and was not taken away. Make sure you notify the Harrogate RSPCA, Dog Warden etc. The Harrogate police station will give you the phone number of the kennels where lost dogs in the area are often taken to. If she is not back soon, the Harrogate papers will let you put a notice in the LOST and FOUND column free if you get it in to them shortly. I have a notice in this week, though my dog was taken from the garden, not lost when out for a walk, so you have a very good chance of hearing about her before the need for that.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

As soon as Admin receives a photograph, the poster will be emailed out to helpers. Posters need to be displayed as soon as possible on notice boards, lamp posts, entrances to parks, dog bins and on cars. Take posters to vets, pet shops, postmen (for sorting offices), milkmen, dustmen, street cleaners, taxi drivers, schools, pubs, youth clubs, newsagents, post offices, takeaways, dog training clubs, supermarkets and car parks. Hand out reduced-down posters or cards to people - especially dog walkers - and deliver to houses and businesses. Police stations, Dog Wardens, the RSPCA and all rescue centres need checking frequently and preferably visited in person by owner or someone who knows Nell well. Stay safe Nell, until we find you x Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
