It totally depends on who finds the dogs - I have heard of road crews burying them at the side of the road for example. We are working with the HA to improve communications though and ensure that local authorities are always contacted when a dog is found. Although its not a very nice job examining a dog that has been killed on the road its always worth checking for a chip/collar etc so at least the owner can know what happened. We've no way of knowing if Bella was killed on the road or if she was just collapsed by it or even if it was her at all - badgers are a similar colouring for example (went out to an alleged dead GSD recently that turned out to be a badger). all we can do is keep looking...Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I wonder if our local Highways agency actually keep acurate records as I seem to remember Kai's owner never receiving replies to her enquiries about Kai. She was informed by a member of the public who was on the M4 at the time Kai was killed and to my knowledge has never received confirmation from the Highways Agency. Please all sign and support Dolly's Directive e petition http://petitions.pm.gov.uk/dollysdirective - Thanks. Dolly 6.2.05Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi ali from the council here. We have continued to keep an ear to the ground for news about Bella but sadly the possible sighting of a (possible) dead dog on the M4 the day after she went mssing was the last news we had. Spoke several times to the Highways Agency but no body was ever recovered from the motorway so could not even confirm the sighting. Any news can be passed to the dog warden on 01793 466068 if you are unable to get hold of the owner or email dogwarden@swindon.gov.ukLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Thanks Jazzi I think Bellas owner is not on line so it makes it difficult. The Dogwarden for Swindon was on this case so she may be able to give an update? Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Unfortunatly I am not able to get out and about in Swindon for a while, however as stated previously, in the area Bella went missing it was and is well postered. It is odd that she has not been sighted when she ran off but alas there was some time before she was put on this site so the trail went cold.I did enquire some time ago if there was an update but I did get any info coming back. As she has been put on this site again I am hoping the owner and our Dog Warden are still proactive (I think the owner is not able to get on line) The last info we had was she was sighted on the M4 motorway (which was near to her home) I and others did drive up and down the M4 but we did not find her. I live not too far from her home and of course did and do look out for her there is a lot of country side that she could have gone into also Motorway and Railway line and Swindon is very close there is also a Council Tip, Garden Centre near to her home they were all informed at the time but could and should be updated again. It seems as there has been no postive sightings she may have been picked up by someone (although she is a nervous dog) so Vets and Sancturay's need to be informed again, also she may have been taken out of this area so if anyone could take a poster along to any of the above that would be great. Bear with us please helpers, and hold fire with the postering until we can find out what has happened. It looks to me as if 2 separate people have registered Bella with us. We are aware and will get it sorted out asap. Thank you.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I note there are new posters about but there are many 'old' type still up as well. Would be useful to have an update as last info was a possible sighting on M4 Motorway.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
