have been in touch with the dog warden in Cornwall and have concluded this dog is not Ashar.
Positive outcome tho' in that he is going to keep a look out for us

There is a dog very much like this living in Southmoor (Oxfordshire) who is walked sometimes in a field near where I live. The current owners got it from 'some gypsy friends'.... The female owner's name is Cherish, but I don't have any other details.

We have heard through contacts with the travelling community that Ashar might (repeat might) have been abandoned in Shropshire or North Wales.
However I don't know how much credibility can be given to such reports!

DOG FOUND - Cheltenham

Near a40/charlton king’s way. found the dog in the road looking very tired and nervous, seems to have been lost for some time as has lost some weight.

He has taken it to a vets in charlton kings, but as it isn’t chipped, the dog wardens will need to take the dog to their centre in Worcester. Does anyone recognise the little fella? Chips do move.On DOUGALS ARMY facebook page x

Had some information via gypsy/traveller contacts that Ashar was taken to Shrewsbury for hare coursing. He did not perform well and so they left him in the fields. I don't have an exact location, sorry. This was about 2 weeks ago. I don't know how reliable this information is. Certainly a Saluki dog was taken to Shrewsbury from the Pembroke site and then dumped.

Thanks for the alert.
We saw the article when published and thought the dog lying down was very similar to Ashar.
We contacted Grimsby police, but then had to go through our local force (Dyfed-Powys) to have them check him out for us. Police never reported back! Assume he eitherwasn't chipped, or they couldn't trace him.

He is not micro-chipped.

Very similar dog picked up 1/6/17 by dog warden SDK Environmental www.lostdogsuk.co.uk. Picture on site male microchipped but not claimed yet. Worth a look

very similar dog dumped outside my house from a white and blue van followed it into http://www.royalgreenwich.gov.uk/info/655/gypsy_and_traveller_sites/1678/traveller_sites_in_greenwich where i have seen it before i couldnt catch it my son and his friend tried so we followed it in the car back to the site where it went back trough the fence the tail looked like it was shaved tho the rest was very similar but dirty looking

Look on Facebook - Hart Environmental Health. Way out of your area but stray cream male Saluki picked up and passed to dog warden. Dog has obviously been straying for a while as quite emaciated. Worth checking out.

Are Ashar's contact details definitely up to-date as a similar dog has been found in Guildford area today, but has out of date details. Currently with Alder Vets.
