I've seen a report Rosie is unable to return to the home she had when she was lost. Can anyone offer her a loving home? She's the other end of the country to us sadly xxx

What brilliant news that Rose has been safely contained after all this time. Hopefully she will settle down well with her adopters if they had only had her for less than 24 hours. Sending best wishes to all involved particularly Rose and her family xxx

SAFE – CRAWLEY DOWN STRAY 🧡AKA ROSE... MISSING SINCE MARCH 2017 ‼️ Long but please do read to the end...
At the end of November we got a message from a member of the public who had spotted a little black dog running in the road near Crawley Down, West Sussex. They stopped the traffic, let the dog disappear into the woodland and knew not to follow, and just returned ASAP to leave food 👍.
Calling at the nearest property in this rural area, they learnt that locals were aware of the dog and that drivers often knocked to say she’d been in the road; she was said to stray and be fed by people 🤨 Slightly perplexed but still very concerned that a dog should be “straying”, they contacted us via Social Media anyway..
Realising it could just have been an “owned dog allowed to roam” situation, a camera was taken over and food left anyway until more information could be gathered. The little dog was on camera at 11pm and 3am that first night, 3 times the next night, and by the third day already appeared to be “waiting” for dinnertime, watching us park and walk up to the camera site.
After the weekend there was a fact-finding mission where some residents told us that yes, there was a stray dog who lived locally, but that she should be left alone by us because she was in good condition, fed and cared for, and was happy… oh and she’d been straying there for “ABOUT TEN YEARS”. YEARS?!?!?!😲
Further discussions with another household said to be responsible for her care painted a slightly different picture – they did leave food out for wildlife, but they knew that the welfare of this (suspected) senior dog was a priority and agreed to help us in any way they could. Wildlife feeding was paused.
Over the following week a feeding routine was established. On a couple of occasions she made daylight visits, where her greying eyebrows and muzzle confirmed that she was a senior dog 🥺.
The trap was brought in on Saturday 9th December. We knew our little stray was picky and we had worked out what she liked, so a huge warm roast chicken feast with a JR Pate topper was laid out, and the waiting began.
The first visit was a walk by at “the usual time”, the second an investigation and cautious nibble 45 minutes later, and the third a good snack just before 7pm… with 3 visits complete when she would normally have only been seen and eaten once, it was thought that might be it until the early hours. Foxes in the background triggered the camera a few times but skulked quietly away.
At 8:30pm the camera went again.. and it was her! Looking over her shoulder a lot, and taking it nice and slowly, she made her way inside the trap, finally treading on the footplate and triggering the door.
SAFE NOW TOUGH LITTLE TERRIER🧡
Understandably she was shocked and scared 😓 but very gentle, and was taken immediately to the warmth and safety of kennels.
With the background we’d been given we were prepared for her to have no microchip, or have an owner listed who was long out of date. What we absolutely didn’t expect was to discover that she was a long term lost dog called ROSE… a now 12 year old Patterdale Terrier who went missing just 6 miles away from Ashurst Wood, within 24hours of being adopted, back in MARCH 2017 😱.
2017 was before LDR’s time so we were not involved in her case, but piecing together s

Rose has been spotted at brambletye crossing next to the laser quest on 7th March and also Wall Hill in Ashurstwood on 7th March so she is still in the area. She is proving very difficult to catch
