Dear friends, thank you for your kind comments.
Yes I do agree that this is just the beginning of a beautiful relationship.
Lillie is only just beginning to trust and rely on me to keep her safe. I am sure when she trusts this human being , she will be able to relax and enjoy her life,
Last night went well, she settled down really well and we both slept... occasionally she got out of her bed and did a little doggie-shake which woke me up and, to be on the safe side, I took her out into the garden and on the 3rd or 4th occasion we had success at 5.30am!!
I can't decide whether Lillie enjoyed her freedom, running around the countryside, reverting to type as a feral dog, or whether it was a frightening , traumatic experience which just exacerbated all the other traumatic experiences that she has had to endure.
I am beginning to think the later is true, and it breaks my heart to think of her spending four scary nights alone in the cold.
She has been SO good today, and seems to just want to curl up in her bed and sleep, always keeping one eye open to make sure that I do not leave her.
I think this is her way of recovering from all the stress of the last 5 days, so it will be interesting to see her true character when she gets over her trauma and feels more secure. (and , of course we don't know how much stress she has had to contend with during the 18 months of her young life)
But I must look to the future and make sure that she has the opportunity to be a happy, carefree little doggie.
Just going out now for a final walk around the garden before we go to bed. xx

Hi friends, we are just off to bed. Lillie is becoming more confident by the hour. She really is such a sweetie!
The only problem is that is that I have not seen her go to the toilet at all this afternoon and we have made lots of little visits into the garden.
I borrowed a crate for her and put a comfy bed in there with her food and drink but she really does not want to go in there..so it looks like her bed will have to come upstairs with me!
I just hope I don't step into something nasty if I get up in the night!
I'll let you know tomorrow!! night night.

Hi dear dog-lovers, Lillie is back home ..safe and sound!!!
Hurrah!!
I had made a little nest for her in the wood, near where I had been leaving her food, with a soft bed and even an umbrella hidden in the bushes over the bed, in case it rained!!
I crept up there this morning at 6am and she was in her bed, she was very wary of me but did not run away. I spent an hour laying on the ground trying to coax her with food and although she cautiously came and picked up the food that I threw for her, she would not come too near.
After an hour she just trotted off into the woods and I returned home to wash her food bowl(which....wait for it...a fox had poo-ed in!!!!... marking it's territory )so I had to sterilize the bowl in boiling water!!
I then went back to her nest with a refilled bowl and as there was no sign of her I started to walk home when I suddenly realized was following me a few yards behind, Every time I turned round she ran away!!
After a while of this game , I decided to go home , if she followed me home ..great..if not... I now knew where to find her.
The Rescue Centre then suggested that I borrow Lillie's sister and try to coax her in that way.
So..off to the Rescue Centre , pick up Aurora, take her over the woods. Lillie was pleased to see her sister.. but I think she was just as pleased to see me!
After a few minutes she came and licked my hand .. I slipped a lead on her( the harness had gone missing).. and I gave her a cuddle and she wanted to be carried home!!
She's asleep in her be now.. it's been quite an ordeal for her and she is even more jumpy now and just wants to rest. Bless!
I'll add a note soon to let you know how she settles down
Many thanks for caring . xxJaney

Hi, many thanks for all who have been looking out for Lillie....I have some quite good news but now realize that this may be a case of being very patient before I actually get her home.
She has now been sighted much nearer to where she first went missing.(PLEASE READ ALL of this message before rushing out to continue the search!!!)
While I was busy looking around the Deadmans Lane area and even further afield, putting up posters and talking to as many walkers as possible, a very kind helper had spent most of Sunday and Monday walking his dog all around... and on Monday, at last there was good news!
He spotted her in one of the orchards but when he called her she ran away. I was delighted when he phoned me as I had begun to wonder if she had got her lead snagged somewhere and could not get free.
Mark showed me where he had seen her and we put some food in a nearby hedge that early evening.
The next morning I went there and saw her briefly before she ran away..(6.45am)...she was very near to where we left the food.
I left her another meal and by 2.30 it had gone. I saw a man who had seen her play briefly with his spaniel in the same area.
I have now left her an evening meal and will return in the morning.
Lillie had only come into a local rescue kennel 2/3 weeks ago from Spain where she was feral..this is why she is so difficult to approach.
Now that we have a location for her nearer to where she went missing, it is important that we take a softly softly approach.I have been advised by the rescue people that we need to leave her to settle down now, feeding her regularly and trying to build a relationship with her. We think that her willingness to interact with other dogs will be the way that we can coax her to come to me...any sudden movements will undo all the good ,so SHE must be the one to come to me when she feels confident to do this.
I do thank you SO MUCH for all the trouble you taken to look for Lizzie but ask you , please NOT to try to search for her any more. There are about 15 people who have been contacting me by text and many many more who have been following on Facebook. and if only a fraction of these people decided to go to where she is located , she would run a mile and never return to that place and we would have to start the whole search again from scratch.
Thank you all once again, I WILL KEEP YOU POSTED OF ANY DEVELOPMENTS. best regards, Janey x

Lillie was sighted this morning (Sunday) in Deadmans Lane, but quickly ran away, She is extremely nervous of people, but is usually friendly towards other dogs.A good search was made of the surrounding fields with no more sightings. It is important not to chase her but to coax her to come to you. She is wearing a red harness with attached pink and purple lead. Please phone my mobile number with any sightings or offers of help. Many thanks to all who have offered to look for Lillie
